paul, closest to the original ever. I learned it from sheet music 40 years ago, but it wasn't anything like so comprehensive as here, and I haven't played it for decades.
Just as it finished, I suddenly thought of "Still Crazy After All These Years" which has a strong piano accompaniment...
Paul...sorry to hear about the loss of your father. He would have been so proud to tell you how beautiful you played at the funeral if he could. Although he couldn't say the words, he heard you in heaven......

this sounds so cool. boy I wish I had some of that talent. I play the organ one finger cords. you know the deal the organ plays it for you. I feel proud when I get a song out of it. but when I hear peaces like this . it puts me in my place. thanks for shearing
Hey Paul - Come up with your version of Boz Skaggs' "We're All Alone!" That's a perfectly haunting melody, in a sense it reminds me of the ghostly "Killing Me Softly."
thats a great version. i learned from on line pianist and it's definately not the same. yours sounds alot closer to the original.why do you have the a flat wedged closed?
Wow, another one of your arrangements that I'm requesting a tutorial for. I wish I had your ear for figuring out a tune. Fantastic. Any tips on developing my ear? Never can work out the finer details that really make an arrangement. (Am grade 8 level.)
@185Clare It is difficult - the main thing is to keep going back to the original and comparing with it, otherwise you can make a mistake and the mistake become part of how you play the song.
Really nice. Not sure what the comment about too much improvising meant. Sounds to me just like the original arrangement that Larry Knechtel played on the original Simon and Garfunkel recording. I also like the Richard Tee arrangement from the Central Park concert.
I love how you do this mostly, but I think alot of the improvisation should have been left out, the song is a little more beautiful because it is so simple. But great job anyways!
@paulwwells Thank You for the reply, I thought it must be some top of the line model. Again thank You and keep up the good work, it's a pleasure listening.
A 1st class performance Paul, just brilliant stuff, thumbs up from Foxy!!.... If you get a chance check my acapella version of The Beatles / If i fell, cheers from Foxy!!....
My singing isn't great. I have a theory that the guitar, as an instrument, because playing the tune and the chords together is difficult, forces you to learn to sing to get a more complete sound. Because on the piano you can play the tune instead of singing it you never bother to learn to sing; I'm pretty sure that's what happened in my case.
Oh man, I adore this... I wish my hands were as wide as yours so I could play better :D What's this instrument, by the way? I'm a piano player myself but I can't exactly tell the difference between a keyboard and electric / digital pianos (or whatever they're called).
Ok, I noticed you answered the question in another video's comments. So it's a Roland digital piano? Would you recommend it? I only have a slightly crappy Casio keyboard..
This is the second Roland keyboard I've had. In both cases I've had problems with key switches breaking resulting in them not working (silence) or maximum loudness. So for that reason I have reservations about recommending - it could be that I'm fairly heavy handed sometimes though. The sound is great though; particularly piano which you use most of the time. Always check the piano sound in the middle octaves, all pianos sound good at the top and the bottom but it's the middle you use the most.
It's a good suggestion and has a good piano part - the only problem is that I normally play the tune as well - and I'd struggle to play anything on the 'goodness gracious great balls of fire' bit without it sounding wrong.
This is quite simply...stunning! You are indeed very gifted. I am always envious of people who can play the piano, but it is as though the piano was invented for you!
Thank you morgan. People have so many different ways of expressing themselves and finding other dimensions to their lives - piano certainly does both of those for me :)
Yes. It has been silent for a long time, but now it has started playing at maximum loudness, so I shoved an eraser behind it to hold it down and stop it from playing. I'd like to get it fixed but I don't have time.
Impresivee!!
