  • Impresivee!!

  • paul, closest to the original ever. I learned it from sheet music 40 years ago, but it wasn't anything like so comprehensive as here, and I haven't played it for decades.

Just as it finished, I suddenly thought of "Still Crazy After All These Years" which has a strong piano accompaniment...

  • @hhelpmaboab I did originally learn this from sheet too when I was a youngster. Still Crazy - good suggestion, I'll check it out. Thanks.

  • Dunno about clicking on the like button..?

There should be a OMG that's just incredable button..

    Beautiful piece, beautifully played...

  • Paul...sorry to hear about the loss of your father. He would have been so proud to tell you how beautiful you played at the funeral if he could. Although he couldn't say the words, he heard you in heaven......

  • this sounds so cool. boy I wish I had some of that talent. I play the organ one finger cords. you know the deal the organ plays it for you. I feel proud when I get a song out of it. but when I hear peaces like this . it puts me in my place. thanks for shearing

  • Hey Paul - Come up with your version of Boz Skaggs' "We're All Alone!" That's a perfectly haunting melody, in a sense it reminds me of the ghostly "Killing Me Softly."

  • @Domreiter28 Excellent suggestion. I wouldn't call it haunting though, it sounds strong, encouraging, positive and uplifting.

  • thats a great version. i learned from on line pianist and it's definately not the same. yours sounds alot closer to the original.why do you have the a flat wedged closed?

  • @johnny36120081 There was something wrong with it at the time and it played at full loudness

  • Great rendition man! Really great left hand and great harmonic balance in general. Best piano version on youtube hands down.

  • Did you just brain this up on your own? (not too too close to sheet music)

  • @Devabomb123 I did learn it from sheet music a very long time ago, I've probably changed it over time though.

  • Thanks for the reply.

  • Wow, another one of your arrangements that I'm requesting a tutorial for. I wish I had your ear for figuring out a tune. Fantastic. Any tips on developing my ear? Never can work out the finer details that really make an arrangement. (Am grade 8 level.)

  • @185Clare It is difficult - the main thing is to keep going back to the original and comparing with it, otherwise you can make a mistake and the mistake become part of how you play the song.

  • NICE job...but i'm wondering, why the clip on the G# ?? i see you hitting the key at times.

  • @iamjarrodtoo It was playing at full loudness and I couldn't stop myself from using it so I jammed it down.

  • Wow - that was fab!

  • gave me goosebumps my dude

  • Do u ever plan on doing a transcription for this arrangement?

  • @gsdsteve Not for this song because the sheet music is already available and very close to how I played it.

  • Really nice. Not sure what the comment about too much improvising meant. Sounds to me just like the original arrangement that Larry Knechtel played on the original Simon and Garfunkel recording. I also like the Richard Tee arrangement from the Central Park concert.

  • @gsdsteve No I didn't understand that comment either.

  • An inspirational version and I really mean that!

  • @richieclarkie Oh thank you very much.

  • wow absolutely amazing playing!!! can you please make a tutorial. there are no tutorials on you-tube except the intro...:(

  • Awesome..awesome..

  • I love how you do this mostly, but I think alot of the improvisation should have been left out, the song is a little more beautiful because it is so simple. But great job anyways!

  • Simply the best version, What a talent!

  • Your talent is absolutely outstanding. No fumbling! 100% instead of the usual 95% on Youtube.

  • Great! But what's that pink peg that holds your Ab?

  • @bimbettocavallo That key was broken at the time and it was the only way to shut it off

  • you got that RD700SX singing! excellent!!!

  • Bravo!!

  • Bravo!!

  • Spectacular artist. What is the brand of your keyboard (Digital Piano)

  • @OldGringo38 Roland RD700SX

  • @RoyalMaximilion Roland RD700SX

  • Class !!!

  • hey, great job man

one thing tho, whats with the peg holding down Ab? lol

    thanks bud

  • BRILLIANT!

  • YOU PLAY...WHAT KEY BORD HAVE YOU GOT

  • Awesome job!

  • man great job on this.

  • nice keyboard cover...it would have been awesome if you sang the powerful message of hope. peace man.

  • My singing isn't great. I have a theory that the guitar, as an instrument, because playing the tune and the chords together is difficult, forces you to learn to sing to get a more complete sound. Because on the piano you can play the tune instead of singing it you never bother to learn to sing; I'm pretty sure that's what happened in my case.

  • I favorited this.

  • Thanks Glassblower718

  • me too. spectacular job!

  • I favorited this.

  • Wow so incredible!! Uhh, any chance of a tutorial any time soon? .. This is one I would gladly pay for!

  • Awesome, fantastic!!!

  • Excellent rendition! :) Nice to hear

  • niceley played had a good groove to it!

  • Another great performance.

    Trouble with that A-flat key?

  • Thank you. Yes there was a problem, but that key has fixed itself now, so I am very pleased. Hopefully it will stay fixed.

  • baring in mind this is 00:23 at the time of watching this for me .... im following the lyrics.. an i start crying.

  • You're not the only one

  • Thank you. It certainly is a very emotional song; a statement of commitment in an uncertain world. :)

  • Ok, thanks a lot for the advice! :)

  • Oh man, I adore this... I wish my hands were as wide as yours so I could play better :D What's this instrument, by the way? I'm a piano player myself but I can't exactly tell the difference between a keyboard and electric / digital pianos (or whatever they're called).

  • Ok, I noticed you answered the question in another video's comments. So it's a Roland digital piano? Would you recommend it? I only have a slightly crappy Casio keyboard..

  • This is the second Roland keyboard I've had. In both cases I've had problems with key switches breaking resulting in them not working (silence) or maximum loudness. So for that reason I have reservations about recommending - it could be that I'm fairly heavy handed sometimes though. The sound is great though; particularly piano which you use most of the time. Always check the piano sound in the middle octaves, all pianos sound good at the top and the bottom but it's the middle you use the most.

  • Absolutely unbelievable. I have a request for the near future young man....Great Balls Of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis????

  • It's a good suggestion and has a good piano part - the only problem is that I normally play the tune as well - and I'd struggle to play anything on the 'goodness gracious great balls of fire' bit without it sounding wrong.

  • This is quite simply...stunning! You are indeed very gifted. I am always envious of people who can play the piano, but it is as though the piano was invented for you!

  • Thank you morgan. People have so many different ways of expressing themselves and finding other dimensions to their lives - piano certainly does both of those for me :)

  • Beautifully played Paul.

  • excellent cover.. love it..

  • Great video and performance, I noticed your Ab was out of action, was that deliberate?

  • Yes. It has been silent for a long time, but now it has started playing at maximum loudness, so I shoved an eraser behind it to hold it down and stop it from playing. I'd like to get it fixed but I don't have time.

  • I noticed that too.

Bah, who needs Ab's anyway?! XDDD

Great performance, and what a lovely song... beautifully played again :)

  • That's cool, it still sounds great anyway!

  • Another superb performance.

  • awesome
