  • 3:30 CACOPHONY!

  • u gotta play some DT stuff in a Mark V review ! i spot Pull Me Under hahaha

  • Gotta say ,You do some great video's

  • 4:15 Alien Hip Hop!! Brett Garsed!!!

  • Hey onthevirg right there!! :) great videos:)

  • The Mark IIC+ sounds awesome!!!

  • i couldnt hear a diff with pentode and triode. whats the diff?

  • @mojoefly The difference is subtle, but pentode is punchier, and triode is a bit more liquid. There is a definite "feel" difference when your playing in triode.

  • @haggertysmusic You say subtle, but when I switch the MKIIc+ into pentode, it sounds radically different. I'd say it was thin, lifeless, and anemic. Is there something wrong with my amp?

  • @karlhouseknecht Sounds a little fishy. The difference is subtle, and I've always found Pentode to be thicker, bolder, punchier and a bit louder than Triode in comparison. If your amp is doing something drastically different than that, it may not be a bad idea to have it checked out.

  • 1:48 beautiful

  • Hi bro how are you? I have a question for you. What do you prefer between mesa boogie markk v and mesa dual rectifier roadster head? Thanks!

  • what is the song @2:52

  • @Deftybenth Dream Theater - Pull Me Under. Thanks for watching!

  • grow your hair longer! yeaaaaaah \m/

  • LIke your videos but if you played a real IIC+ you would know you CAN'T have the IIC+ with the V. It doesn't anything like a real IIC+. I've owned 2 IIC+'s and 1 Mark V, the V is more compressed, less dynamic, and almost boxy sounding in comparison. It just doesn't sound or feel the same.

  • @danyeo eh, I have all 3 of em... ivb, iic+ full, V head, and the V is like a cross between the iic+ and the mark IV. it's dark like they did with the mark IVb, refining and dark liquidizing the sound, maybe through the power section, the only thing I don't like is there is no input volume and I don't feel like it's as wild and loose as the older amps.

  • @muzapstar i feel that the major problem people are having with the 2c+ and iv mode is that they are not as huge sounding as most people would like them to be

but then this is what extreme mode is for !

  • Whats that last song?

  • Awsome pull me under tone.

  • planet x solo)

    GUY u awesome )

  • @Smysloff Thank you! But unfortunately it can not compare with Bret Garsed's original... not even in the ball park!

  • if you guys want to hear that riff at 0:55 played way better, check out John Petruccis video on how he gets his tone with the mark V

  • Best. Amp. (Ever). So nice.

  • Yeah pull me under

  • Amazing set of videos on the Mark V. Have had the amp for a few months now and I keep coming back to these videos to get a fresh look at how to setup my tone.

  • Nice John Petrucci riffing there. This is KHGuitarFreak on the Boogie boards saying good on you for the demoes...

  • @KHGuitarFreak1988 Thanks brother! I appreciate you watching!

  • I was reading the letter of a Mesa/Boogie "Thank you" letter. It said "The second channel is the 'Marshall' sound. Channel three is purley Mesa/Boogie. Singing cleans and leads, and crunchy rhythms, this is Mesa/Boogie's own. NO ONE can touch this, try as they might, this is Mesa."

    FUCKIGN AWESOME!

  • Hi Don! Nice vid...My Mark V is still goign strong, but th reverb just stopped working. I'm currently troublshooting. I hope you are well, Mike Edwards

  • @brownhog72 Great to hear from you Mike! Are you still in Japan?!?! Hope all is well with you and your family! There are two tubes that could be the culprit regarding your reverb (V4 & V5). Replace those first and check all of the reverb cabling. If it's still not working, a new reverb tank would be in order, and it should still be under warranty. Talk to you soon bud!

  • @haggertysmusic Yeah, I'm still in Japan, but I am about to leave. I am headed to Qatar for a year. So, I will be taking my Pro-Tools rig over there and work on an album while I do my time in the desert. I switched the tubes and the problem is still there. so, I called Mesa/Boggie and they are sending me a new tank. Hopefully that helps. If not, I'll have to have it repaired while I am in the US on leave before going to Qatar or wait until I finish.

  • @haggertysmusic I couldn't help but notice you used the same lick that Petrucci used in his demo of the Mark V

  • @Aviii Yeah man, I don't know if there is any other tone that epitomizes "MARK" tone like pull me under!

  • @haggertysmusic Oh absolutely, it just sounds so much heavier in mark iv mode

  • @haggertysmusic Should i stop searching for an original 1984 Mark IIC+ and rest assured that i can get ALL OF IT in the mark V ?? i am among many in the contant search of Metallica's Master of Puppets / Justice tone... Well... at least their demo tone!

  • @petesilvo Not necessarily. What I've come to notice is the Mark V is very capable of capturing the essence and vibe of the original amps, but not necessarily capable of EVERY tone those original amps could produce. I feel our videos here accurately represent what the Mark V is capable of and if you've heard the tone you crave then by all means grab a Mark V or try one out at a store.

  • @petesilvo Keep searching.

  • @danyeo No need... already went for an early 90's type A Mark IV... I'm in heaven!

  • Which 4x12 cabinet are you guys using in this video? Thanks!

  • @mrgrsmitty 4x12 Rectifier Slant! Thanks for watching.

  • Don, I'm going to be picking up a mk v head tonight, but I'm unsure on which cab to get - i'm torn between a 2x12 vertical rectifier or a (used) road king 4x12. Have you had a chance to try the mk v with either of these? Thanks.

  • Hey, Don I need some advice. Mark V Combo or Head+Cab? I play a double fat Strat-style guitar and play mostly punk and alternative and plan on using the Mk IIc+ and Mk IV modes most often. Thanks!

  • @blinkdude182 I would go head and cab for that. Either a 4x12 or 2x12 rectifier. They would be much more agressive and in your face. The combo would be ok if you were relying on a microphone for your sound, and didn't need as much stage volume. Typically punk bands will have a pretty loud stage volume. :-)

  • @haggertysmusic Cool man, thanks for the quick response! Just one more question though. Would you still recommend the head & cab if I'm mostly a bedroom/studio player?

  • surfin at 5:15

  • I think you need a pickup on the bridge more powerfull!!

  • awesome demo! you guys are great at your job! keep it up!

  • Awesome review dude! Definitely clear and concise! Cheers!

  • Great sound. I wonder how it would sound with 7-string guitar, especially on low tones.

  • @FilonUK

I have posted my mk IIc+ with my universe 7 string ibanez. look it up. :-)

  • best video demo of the mark v ever i like the cover of pull me under

  • you guys have the best sounding, most in depth demo's on youtube. it really helps people like me decide what gear is best for me. thank you keep up the good work.

  • @metalmaniac426 You're very welcome. Thanks for watching!

  • nice sound!!!

  • Where is part 5?

  • @AlvisLiquid Part 5 (Mark I) is still in editing. Technical difficulties :-) I would look for it next week sometime.

  • Amazing videos Don, keep em coming! They should hand a DVD out with every Mark V with your full in depth videos on them, it really helps tweak!

  • Sounds great Don, Amazing playing

  • @Guitarman777 Thanks Rob! "Amazing" is quite a stretch... but THANK YOU!
