  • Ooooh so that's the name of this beautiful piece. I'd seen another video of Min Huifen play this and I didn't know what it was called as it was in Chinese.

She's an amazing eruhist. I really like this piece - it's sad but pretty. Very good.

  • She plays so precisely, so sharp and clear. I really think this is the best I've ever heard this piece played (not that I've heard it loads). I could listen all day :)

  • Impresionante, hermoso...u.u'

  • She's really get what the song's meaning

  • NIPPON BANZAI!!!!!!

  • @TrulyEpicLuLs

    Nippon..? ._____.

  • @TrulyEpicLuLs This is Chinese, not japanese...?

  • @GZH1234 馬鹿, same thing. 傻瓜!

  • @TrulyEpicLuLs Uh, no it is not the same thing. Dumbass.

  • @GZH1234 Bai hua qi fang, bai jia zheng ming!

  • Any inf about the date this piece was composed I assume it's a very old chinese classical song, but any info about the date?

  • @KnoVik22

exacted date not known. should be some time before 1950.

the name of the composer is Abing. u can learn more about him at wiki or the following

    en. wikipedia. org/ wiki/ Abing

  • who care she open or close her eyes , she play this music so good which make all our heart soft and feel deeply in with her ,the best I ever hear among all other people.

  • 什麽叫如泣如訴,她做到了。Please stop saying that she is lacking in emotion. On the contrary, her suppressed way of playing has so much emotion in it that it places a terrible grip on my heart. It hurts to hear her play.

  • One day, when I will find the time, I will learn to play the erhu. I have always loved music, and I always wanted to play some instrument and be good at it.

It feels like the erhu is the best fitted instrument for me. ♥

It's such a beautiful and calming instrument, whereas you look at it and you see something so simple, and yet... when you play it, it pours out some of the most elaborate pieces one could play.

Erhu is probably one of the best creations out there. :)

  • I agree. It is very calming. Honestly I've always loved the oriental style of music but never really knew what made the sounds. These two instruments are actually my favorate instruments. I can see why westerners had adopted their version of it; the violin which i play.

  • It's been said already but this had really great depth. The Erhu is my favorite instrument.

  • So far, she is the best performing erhu artist ever seen, especially the play of "二泉映月。If you compare it with the masterpiece recorded from the master composer, 阿炳。

  • @pych02

Sure this lady is top class but it isnt possible to compare her with the late composer . Firstly, the composer was a creative genius and master instrumentalist in his own right. Also, his recorded works were done in his dying days and affected by the poor audio quality of his time. He also didnt play with good quality instrument as he couldnt afford it. Besides,as the strong emotions in this piece were his own personal reflection, only he himself can express them accurately..

  • Never get tired of Erhu

  • Seeing responses below - this lady is much more an introvert - especially more than the extrovert young players (like Yu Hingmei). She is more reserved - but don't mistake it for lack of sould or emotion!

If you exert yourself and ACTIVELY LISTEN - you'll get REWARDED. This older lady has DEPTH.

    And her sound is pure.

  • is the skill of joy mixed with sadness and if you hear well is like a story is being told dude is total peace heheh just enjoy it

  • Her long drawn out sound ... i dont know why, but no other instruments sound grabs me like the Urhu. I wonder what that is? I'm not chinese but that sound calls to me like no other.

  • Erhu traces the peaceful, babbling streams, the boisterous seas, the lost voices, the childhood playmates and the forgotten years in us. Winding, tortuous and reaching far! No other music instruments do that!

  • interesting interpretation, very powerful

  • i've listened both Zhou wei and this and it's true zhou wei is more soft and funny but this is like soul every sound root out of the erhu is magikal and you can feel in your skin

  • I have listened to Master Zhou Wei.He brings a little something different to the piece.Personally,I find that at certain parts he loses the flow. But,there is a Yin and a Yang to everything. The Erhu does not object to either one of their playing styles by producing the its sound,so why should I?It is not closed minded and it's just an instrument. The Erhu accepts all styles and has no individual master. This is the Dao,or Way, of Music. If anything sucks; it's your narrow way of thinking :-)

  • perhaps.... you have not listened to zhou wei's version? type in his name and click search...

  • aww.if you said this means you're scolding more than millions of people.and you're senseless.this is not where you stay.

  • I remember when I first came across this video.I was doing something and as soon as it started I stopped dead in my tracks until it finished. Her flow;unquestionable. Her ability to make the music alive as if you sitting right there;obvious. Her playing style hits you like a ton of bricks, but only if you have the right ear for it.She plays as if this is how the music must be played. She sets an extremely high standard, which cannot be matched;and if she was any more "fluid", she'd be water....

  • I find that Zhou Wei is much better at this piece. He's much more fluid than this woman.

  • Perhaps, you should turn the volume up and take the cotton wool out of your ears? :-)

  • I totally agree with you. But I think Song Fei is better with this piece; she makes the music come alive more. Min Huifen practically puts me asleep with her technique, there isn't enough emotion in it.

  • Her style of erquan is quite different. True, its boring. But within it, you can hear a lament going on, hers is more sad. Maybe cos she is very old, and thus have had experienced more sad things in life? XD

  • what does erquan mean?

  • in chinese : 天下第二泉

in english : the second best spring in Wuxi

  • lol A Trio!Next step...Taking over the world hahahahah I found it amazing on how well she played in her younger days. Her skills became heavenly over time.I don't know about you guys but when I hear other people play this music I can't even finish the video coz they sound so robotic and lifeless. When she plays it, its like you right there and she is telling you a story.I remember when I first saw this, it stopped me dead in my tracks until the whole video was done.Blown away! How about you guys?

  • I enjoy watching her to play this song at her different age.

  • I have listened this piece million times and still love it.

  • Good on you! Me too!

  • And me too! Now wa are a trio!

  • Thank you for the additional information, kwwkwwkww. It adds greater depth. But,have you noticed she plays all her music with no expressions?

  • she always closed her eyes when playing therefore gives one an illusion that she has no expressions. actually, she has expression including facial and emotional.

  • *Bows while holding fist*

Kwwkwwkww, I'm not really disputing that. I'm simply saying it's quite clear she limits her expressions (facial, emotional, etc)which is a wonderful technique, wouldn't you say?

    Xie Xie Ni!

  • This musical piece is good but what makes it great is the way in which she plays it. She shows no expressions in order to take noting away from the music. Towards the end the mike gives a bit of a surge but nothing distracts her from playing so perfectly. I think that even is a violent storm came her way, it would not stop her from finishing the music. She is a beautiful master.

  • in my opinion, she is try to simulate Ah-bing's situation.

Ah-bing is a blind folk muscian who is also the composer of this music piece.

  • she has her eyes closed in all of her videos.

  • Seiji Ozawa kneed and cried after he listened Ms. Min's playing. He said this piece comes from haven.

  • @babayang521

he didn't refer to this piece. it was 江河水 that he listened to. but anyways, she plays the erhu in a way no one else does.
