its important to be "into" drumming mentally, you need to have a mindset as if your going to destroy the track, but i notice with some drummers that they get over psyched and it restricts them from being relaxed when they have to pull off some ghost notes, i suppose its all about finding that happy medium, great cover man

It's way more important the coordination, precision and the understanding of rythm. Telling him that he should innecesarily twich is like saying to a guitarist that he is ruining it because he wont make his hair spin. Dude, musicians do music, dancing isn't necesarily involved. If he headbanged, the effect would be NOTHING, comparable to putting stickers to the drums. Musical appreciation its what you lack.
