Yes, there are other African leaders whose regimes have been worse than Zimbabwe's. But that does not make what is happening in Zimbabwe right, or acceptable. It is not African to oppress and murder one's own people; it is simply evil. It is not a European virtue to live freely; it is a basic human right that must be availed to ALL human beings, everywhere. So lets unite to do away with corrupt regimes, brutal regimes across Africa -Sudan, Eq. Guinea etc. Let there too, be peace in Somalia!

I think that the reason why Mugabe and Zimbabwe is so interesting for Britain is, because of the way the country took its independence with Mugabe as the leader. It still hearts them dearly. Thats why I dont believe in politics, because its obvious that they are using democracy as an excuse for hetz against Zimbabwe and Mugabe. Lots of countries in africa don't have democracy...Its not only Zimbabwe.

I'm glad to see some Brits here speaking the truth. It really touched my heart as an African for you guys to realize the double standard against Mugabe's regime. Many other African leaders have done worst than Mugabe and yet the British government is praising them. Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria just to name a few have had elections that have resulted into the deaths of there people. I wish for the British government to condemn all of them the same way with Mugabe.

I agree with you. The United Kingdom are only critiscising and singling out Mugabe because he is basically of no use to them and has no oil. The last thing Britain and America need is free elections in countries like Saudi Arabia. They rely on dictators like King Abdullah staying in power in the Middle East (they don't care if he rigs elections or kills thousands) just so they can get their oil and also make sure that their agenda in the Middle East (Iraq etc) does not become unmanageable.
