Bloody hell. thats some serious nostalgia. I can almost smell the pancakes my nan used to have ready for me as soon as i got in from school to settle down to this.......
Philip Schofield has a bit of a New Zealander twang there when he says "Afternoon". I say Ne Zealand as opposed to Australian cos I know he worked over there for a few years. So I heard.
I remembered watching one episode, where Bruno Brookes took a fancy of one girl who was taking part. I remembered he was telling her you look very good looking. I think she was in the 6th form for Beal High School and was competing against a teacher. It was so flirtatious !!!
I am ashamed to admit that I would have been 15 when this was on, and watched it regularly. Shouldn't I have been down the bus depot breaking windows and necking cheap cider like the other normal kids did?
Funny Paul Jones is the only person I don't remember every presenting this I remember Howard Stableford, Bruno Brookes and the first appearince on tv of Darren Day. Fantastic show though if anyone has a full episode please upload.
@kattakethat That's right I remember Bruno Brookes also, had forgotten about him; just knew that Howard Stableford also hosted it before he went onto Tomorrow's World. Didn't remember Darren Day but I was an 80s kid :)
I loved this when I wasa kid. it was brilliant, especially the questions which always had stupid answers no sane person would think of, like "What is the longest day in the week?" Answer: Wednesday (more letters than the others).
Absolutely LOVED this when I was a kid. I always remember that I loved the theme tune as well. Kids tv shows in the 80s had far better and more memorable theme tunes than kids shows today. Glad I grew up during that time.
I use to absolutely love this show, pity it never got revived, cause id even watch it now as an adult. A teacher from my future secondary school played on there, but was beaten. It was Mr Cotton from Poole. I remember a female maths teacher on there from Cambridge, she was totally unstoppable. She only lost in the end after about 15-20 consecutive wins just because she threw the game lol
Even though a kid's show since on during Pip's bit (!) could never understand why only 10-15 mins long! Howard Stableford was my preferred host. 'Middle Middle twice please!!!'
I used to fucking love this, especially when the smug teachers got their arses kicked by the kids. And especially when the teachers played the Joker and still lost!!!!!!!!!!!
And yes, a young Phillip Schofield with dark hair...it really used to be the case kids...
I remember this..I also remember flicking over to CITV to watch knightmare, when this was on.. lol

You forget the theme music and then when you hear it again you're instantly transported back in time.

Wonder what the doubtless piece of stock music used for the title music is called and who wrote it. Bet it's from Bruton.

Proving the point that Tic Tac Dough and Hollywood Squares aren't the only tic tac toe game shows on earth.
