  • Chris, Loved this enormously. I grew up in the Bronx. And as a child remember going to Cassone's Bakery to buy our bread. It was at the circle under the ells. Can't remember the street number though. From the Bronx, moved to Yorktown, Mahopac and have lived in Pawling for 30 years now... and always, always bought Cassone Bread... none like it. This song brings back so many memories and is such a happy tune! Thank You! May God Bless You and Yours!

  • Hey Chris, read the item in Journal News then came home to find this link on my facebook page. I'll send along to my brother Billy Powers.

  • One of my fondest teenhood memories was when I worked at the A&P and would sneak around to the back of the Sawpit just to hear you play. I saw the article in the paper today and had to check it out......Love this song. You always had a gift and I am very happy for you Chris.

  • Saw the article in the paper and had to check it out......Love this song! Great job Chris. One of my fondest teenhood memories is when I worked at the A&P and couldn't wait for my break so that I could sneak behind the Sawpit and hear you playing in your back yard. I thank you for then and I thank you now.

  • Love the video and song. I have been on most parts of Rt 22 . Love the ride up North of Brewster too. I did not see the Texas Taco?

  • @getorphan yeah and Henry the K likes to stop at the Red Rooster to get two hot dogs without buns when he is on his way back home in Kent. At least that is what was reported in the NYTimes a couple of years ago.

  • @getorphan texas taco is in pawling

  • @brebryce2 no, texas taco is in patterson.

  • @cciesiel22 Correct. and Texas Taco RULES!!!

  • Great video, Chris and a great song. Brings back lots of memories. I grew up in PC and went to Siwanoy as a kid scout, too.

Always stop at the Red Rooster!!

  • Love this song, especially since I live near it

  • this song is the dumbest thing ever!!!

  • Hey Chris ! Great !!. How about doing a song about the Texas lunch next !! Jimmy wielding his spatula at the grill, Edna the owner and her sister Millie working the overnight with Robert and Henrietta !!! or, The Embassy theater, the Capital theater and officer Mingo Anjos walking North Main Street !!!!!!! Great job, be well !!!! .

  • YEAH NAWAL!!

  • LOL Great Song for Locals !

  • LMAO!!

  • This is great. I learned to ride my motorcycle going many miles up and down Rte 22. Recognize my husband and mine's favorite place to stop for burgers (The Red Rooster), Valhalla damn among others. Very cool.

  • Great! Love the song and love Rte. 22 as it's been my stomping grounds since the mid-70's. Our family has many memories of driving north from Patterson.

  • Excellent video! I recognized all the NY upstate stuff you put on. {TexasTaco,etc}

Are you a Cassone of bakery fame?

    Thanks.

  • Awesome.......

  • Nice job! We that live there really appreciate it.

  • That's my childhood home at 0.20-23! Where are the royalties?!

  • BRAVO !!! I drive " 22 " every day and the Red Rooster is a regular stop... Loved the song and shared it with lots of friends... Fav'd too !!!

  • Love it- I grew up in Purdys which is a hamlet of North Salem, NY. We lived very close to the Blazer Pub which was just down the street from us on Rt 22. Pretty close to Brewster. I was most delighted to hear this song. Shared it on Facebook and got a good response.

  • Love it! I have driving rte 22 since 1965. Used to race and rallye all the time. Was stationed at Plattsburgh AFB, Had a silver shop up ther and played in a band at Brodie's. Still cruise it on my Harley. Love blues love the song. Thanks

  • very good song.. ! enjoy it.. new to youtube ..xxoo angel

  • What inspired this crazy song? I like it, and by the way for those of us who grew up in the extreme north country of NY, RT 22 goes through West Chazy - (pronounced Shayzee) not Chazy. That would be US Route 9.

Thanks again though I realy like the song .

  • @kingtiger59 Close enough, dude. Yea, I just got the correct phonetics but it had to rhyme with crazy. Shayzee=Jay Z, maybe in the hiphop version

  • Well where's the Blazer Pub!!!!!!!!

  • I love Route 22... in most places LOL

  • That was great! Grew up in Yonkers, Bronxville side traveled 22 all the time. There was a cool bar near the top of Kensico Dam. I live in Plattsburgh now and still travel RTE 22.

    Thanks for the trip.

  • @hgl1943 That was the Beer Gardens...or Budgies. Of course, I left out the Little Spot in North White Plains also

  • WOW! You are getting better the older you get. But glad you didn't cross the line in Chazy in the winter...that's cryo-survery land. Oh! What happened to Bedford...too ritzy?

  • damn was hoping to catch my store oh well Champion Tile in Pawling saw Kessmans across the streat.. great song thanks

  • Hay any relation to JJCassones bakery ? I use to have a Cassone bread route that ran from Port Chester to Mt Kisco on ol route 22. Peace

  • @boscobear33 Yep, J.J. was my grandfather and I had my own route up Route 1 to Bridgeport

  • @cakescassone It`s a small world

  • Oh Yea. When I drive to New York from Vermont or Back. I always take Route 22, There are faster ways but no nicer. In the 60s we find a place on or off 22 to drag race from the Bronx to Armonk. Thanks for the video

  • OMG! I love it! I moved to Florida from Dover Plains 8 years ago and how nice it was to see a little bit of "home".

  • Dude .. this song is EPIC ...just want to give a shout out to the sk8rs doing gnarly kick-flips over the gap at Brewster Dunkin Donuts!

  • my bf worked at both red rooster AND the towne crier. very nice :)

  • ah well, the last comment posted was from my son Gabe's youtube account - if you're wondering who saw you up at Texas Taco! Love from Betsy & co.

  • This rocks, Cakeman! It's about time. Many's the hour I have spent on this road from my learner's permit in Eastchester to recent Berkshire roadtrips. My fave was always Texas Taco, though - didn't I see you there once or twice? Great video, fitting homage!

  • Reminds me of Huey Lewis. It is really great Chris.

  • @anneharpen Same for me, but it would remind me more if it had Sax or Trombone in it. They could fit!

  • Chris, great "groove", the feel is awesome.

    I'm a fan.

    Gene Bensen

  • Great Video. I ate many lunches at the Red Rooster when I worked part time at Lloyd Lumber in Brewster for 15 years. Before that I lived just off 22 in Plattsburgh in the 60's and early 70's. We would take 22 to the Canadian border in Mooers, NY and cross over into into Hemingford, Quebec were the route number changed to 219. In those day you could park off the side of 22 and watch the B52"s take off from the air base in Plattsburgh. Loads of memories of that road over the past 40 years. Thanks!

  • Brewster has the Red Rooster but Pawling has Forrest Sidestreet Cafe and it may sound funny(cause I own it) but for all MY money it's the best stop on... Route 22!!!!!

  • Excellent job on the video and music. It's exciting to see the area where we grew up. Cool to see the Red Rooster in Brewster. Have been going there for 40 years and I'm only 46. Live in North Carolina now but still go to NY a couple times a year and eat at the R.R. Thanks for posting.

  • This is great, and I was one of those people who got hit with the snow balls from that yellow house

  • Yeah...we finally made it ...Use to hang out at the Kensico Dam..1970-71...Go Westlake H.S.

  • Yes! Representing Amenia, NY!!! I can't wait to be back on Route 22.

  • Lived in Pawling and hitched that road for years all the way to north to the end. Usually Vermont was my main stop where I live now. I recognized every part of the video. Thanks for the flash back.

  • uyyy Ilike it!!!

  • I grew up in the yellow house! It was white back then, but I used to sit behind that stone wall and throw snowballs at passing cars!

  • Great Vocals...Great Lyrics....Great Subject....Great Video

    Thanks

  • LOVE it!!!! Red Rooster, Town Crier .... ah the memories!!

  • I really enjoyed this video. I have traveled Route 22 many times. I had forgotten the Red Rooster. I loved the singing on here also. Good job.

  • Great!!! Love the song. Forgot about the Red Rooster!!

  • Awesome - I use to live a few blocks off of route 22
