I agree Dezi. Some tend to go up a shade, which isn't great if the color oxidizes. I'm a NC45/NW43 and the 7.0 color match works for me.

I am a NC44 and at mac in the matchmaster I was given the 7.0 at home it looks way to orange do you think the 6.0 is better as long as I blend? Please help

I hate to ask for help at the mac stores or counters I match myself. Everytime I am matched they pull out NC45... I am not NC45 even after telling them that...... they still match me even though it is too dark for me. ugh

You are alway a pleasure to watch very informative. I had a very bad experience with a hw lace wig that I had bought from them. Within a week she had a bold spot due to excessive shedding and she got tingle worse then a 10$ wig.but they did give me a new one.but I'm afraid she might go bad too. I wanted to know if you would have some tips for me to keep her at her best especially , she was 200$.( you can see her on my last video "I'm back) thank you for your time and plz stay fabulous and bless.

I can definitely understand your frustration(s) with the product. Although I did not have any problems matching myself, I do resent the amount of transfer of this foundation even after it's set. I guess that's why the Prolong Wear is my favorite formula to date. I've always wanted to try the studio fix and never did but I digress, lol. Thanks for sharing your views...you look really pretty! I never stopped watching but I have FALLLEN IN LOVE with ur vids all over again!

I feel you. I once went to Macy's and let this lady talk me into getting this foundation that looked like mud on me and ended up making my neck look yellow in comparison which it is not. 5 days later I took it back and told them whyI did not like it and she said I needed to put some on my neck to blend it. Oh boy! I do not ruin clothes by putting makeup on my neck and politley asked for a refund and got it.

Hey girl, we have all been there. Some of the artist at MAC don't seem to know much about how to match women of color. Here's what I do to save myself a return trip. After the makeup has been applied, I take a mirror and go outside so I can really see how it looks on me. Years ago, I went home after one of these new makeup hunts, and my family thought I had been placed under a sun lamp at the spa. Thanks for all you do.

Sorry you had such a bad experience, I really believe that some makeup artist just don't understand or know how to take a persons undertone into consideration. You seem more like a 7.5 to me, just make sure you have a good moisturizer on and I believe you would like it. Please give us and update if you decide to try it again.

if you are an nw45 then the artist at the counter should have matched you up with a 7.5 give it sometime and please do another review about the makeup.

i love match masters makeup! it is made for people who have oily skin. i use it everyday and it holds up well and i dont feel like a grease ball by the end of the work day. i can use a 6.0 or a 7.0 or mix them both together. if you prime your face well apply a layer and then go over with another layer you can build the foundation. i use a little bit of transparent powder to set it and the makeup is beautiful. i have long strayed away from using fix fluid.

I too was matched with 9.0 at Heathrow airport not only DID I KNOW that it was too dark for me,I let her talk me into buying it. I also just don't like it !!! it's one of those weird tints. The only Mac that I like is the PRO-LONG. I know PEOPLE DON'T LIKE ,but it works for me. in NW45.

back in the day when FashionFair was the TOP DOG..I too was talked into a similiar situation and for yrs I wore this reddish undertoned foundation..fast forward..new state..yrs later, was finally matched with the right creme foundation...seems so ancient to talk about creme foundation and even fashion fair, though I no longer use it but I know they still exist...a wise woman here as well and I so enjoy ur vid..great tips..:).

That's not being a perfectionist, that's just knowing what looks good on your skin tone. I would love to see how to blend foundations because I have several that are either to light or to dark.

This is the same argument I feel a lot of women of color share, when it comes to foundation period. A lot of companies do not cater to us. Now I'm in no way implying that all cosmetic companies are this way, but a good amount are. We really should not have to buy & mix two foundations to achieve our best color. So I can definitely understand your frustration in this video. Hopefully more cosmetic companies will take notice & do better!!!

wow dezi, i could tell you were REALLY frustrated. i've never heard you sound flustered before. i could tell you were trying to be nice about that foundation lol. i'm not a blender, but it would be helpful to see/hear more about it. everytime i find a foundation to match, the season changes and so does my coloring lol i usually just try to work with what i got :-( thanks for this vid and yes, the hair is gorgeous!

Dezi, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Mac. It is frustrating when you get a someone behind the counter who really doesn't know what they're talking about. You have taken the product back for an exchange and educated the clerk (how else will they learn). I've been using Bobbi Brown Almond (#7) foundation stick for years. I've never had to blend it (no need). My skin looks naturally even. You should try it. I love to hear your feedback.

@CatHarlem I agree. I wear Bobbi Brown 6.5 stick and it is perfect; no concealer needed. I have too many foundations to mention (even purchased after I started using Bobbi) but I find nothing works as well as Bobbi because I really don't want to work that hard.

Hey, I'm a MAC Employee. You and I are just about the same complexion. When I wear makeup (I'm a guy) I use the 7.5, and so do you! Match Master is an incredible foundation, you just had a bad experience. sorry :-(

I wear Makeup Forever and I love them... they have so many shades available it's really hard not to find the right color.. More often than not MAC sends me home with foundations two shades too dark :-(

Thanks for the review on this. I went out to buy Mac foundation before Christmas and ended up buying Smashbox because it was at Ulta and Mac wasn't. I don't like it. It makes me look too shiny in my pics.

I went to mac and they tried to get me to take 8.0 but I stood my ground and said it was too dark.finally I took a sample of 7.5 home and it was slightly darker still.I will not be buying match master because I bought prolong wear a while ago and I've only worn it 4 times mac foundations just don't suit my skin.

I've given up on the MAC foundations period -- they are always too orange or too red, there has never been a perfect match....so I didn't fall for the Matchmaster hype and just passed on it completely. I've had better luck with MUFE and NARS Sheer Matte...heck, even Tarte is better for me than MAC ever was. Glad to see you were able to make it work.

Couldn't agree with you more about the makeup artists who try to convince you to buy the wrong foundation shade. I think it's a particular problem for women of colour. If it wasn't for you giving me the courage to ask for caramel in revlon colorstay, I would never have realised that it's my ideal shade. Thesales girls were adamant that I should use cappucino, so I ended up buying it and regretting because it was just too muddy on me.
