I'm a Fireman and my health insurance is provided through the state of Ohio. But, I disagree with the health-care reform. With the taxes we American's pay, health-care should be free for EVERYBODY. If health insurance is mandated, I don't think much will change. Their will still be people who can't afford health insurance. Just like alot of people can't afford health-care.

Hell I have a job and declined a health insurance plan from my employer because I wanted to buy 'other' things that I wanted, most people have that choice, and to pay my own doctor bills out of pocket..which he seems to be pretty happy about since his money doesn't have to pass through 3 hands before it gets to him. I'm sure doctors love the government telling them how much their supplies and time of service are worth.

Yeah it's not like most people who are on a government program are actually inable or disabled from work to buy there own..personally I think more than half on a government plan are too lazy and expect their checks/medicade card to be in mail at beginning every month while their only intention is to abuse the system every year and not actually look for gainful employment. Federal help has made more lazy people than junk food and TV combined.

Actually. If you listen he states if HC is not affordable then there has to be a mechanism to force people to pay. However, the new HC reform which does contain a mechanism (between 1 and 2.5% of your income) but the difference is the insurance exchange allows for affordability with subsidies that allow those who can't afford it to have HC.

Also it is important to point out that the other benefits far out weigh the negatives. Like no caps, and no more denial of coverage. Way more important

@skimpaler @skimpaler how is this new HC bill going to help in actually lowering the cost of HC? subsidies is not lowering the cost, but filling in the rest of what the person/family cannot pay themselves.

if ins. was allowed to compete between states AND basic medical care was allowed to compete w/ prices, then costs would come down. one, because of market competition and two, because the BIG hospitals would be relieved of the basic, non life threatening check ups & procedures.

@researchris2 The other half of the story is quality. If healthcare is universal (meaning everyone gets the same treatment) and the government is paying, the government will have to take away the privilege of choosing which doctor you can see, otherwise everyone will want to go to the best doctor. All doctors will then get paid the same and will not have any incentive to be better than others. It will also take away the incentive to become a doctor. This will severely reduce quality.

@skimpaler The point is, this is yet another point where he has proven himself to be just another leech of a politician. He said it is wrong to charge people who don't have healthcare, and it is OBVIOUSLY stated in the bill that that is exactly the plan.

Listen, maybe universal healthcare can work out. Whether or not it can, the way this administration has approached it is WRONG and will have a terrible impact.

MBF minimum 50 bucks a fourtnight and covers nothing, the delux is $106 a fourtnight and covers mot things. now what happens when you just started paying for the MBF standard $64:36 a fourtnight. you have paid 1 yr payments total of $1673.36 and get hit by a car,your critical and need a hip nreplacement, your health insurance received $1673.36 the surgery is gona cost you $30,000, you have to make sure you have that,
