  • I totally agree with you, Yog is at least one of the best, but to be exact the best from what I have tried, I've been using much less than you did, at least I suppose, but still I can feel the difference between other SQL administrators floating around the internet. Great video :].

  • @Hexpigge - Hi! Love your anime and RGP stuff, etc. Thanks for the kind words.

Way back when (before you were born) developer tools were SO expensive you picked one and that was it. Today, with free and affordable prices it's "Who's on top today?" Honestly, I tend to run my top TWO similar tools at the same time all the time, such as: PhpStorm & PhpED for IDE and SQLyog and EMS' SQL Manager for MySQL for DB tools. SQLyog is my Ferrari and EMS is my Hummer. Ferrais are more fun and FASTER!

  • @SohodojoJim Thank you! It was meant to be a project to improve my English skills.

Somehow, for about a year, when I started working with MySQL I only needed PHP admin, it seemed enough, but, your last sentence sums it up pretty well, fun and faster :].

  • Did you make this video for a contest?

  • @sliekas33

Yes! Good guess. Although I have been intending to share this information in a screencast before the folks at Webyog announced their 'customer testimonial contest'. You will find info on the contest and see other entries (from this current and a prior contest) by visiting the Webyog.com home page.

I wanted my testimonial to both thank the Webyog folks, but also to share how their SQLyog product has shaped my daily workflow.

    --Sohodojo Jim--

  • @SohodojoJim great video, seriously, you give all the details someone might need :]. Just, by looking at the date, I saw that you posted it 4 days ago, and so it would be for the new contest, though if it is, you might missed some rules :D. Beside all this, again, video was really great :].

  • @sliekas33 -- Thank you for your kind words. I have depended on SQLyog to make my daily life better for years so have been meaning to share this info for a long time even before the contest. At least for 'round 2', the rules were pretty loose: 'talking head' testimonial or feature-screencast, upload tags, inform Webyog folks (did that), and '_should_ be under 3 minutes'. Other entries went long, too. In the end, I made it as short as possible but said what I needed to say. SQLyog rocks! :-)
