This is the best Hip Hop interview that I have seen.It probably took place over seas.Because abroad they are more detailed & studious as to the actual culture than we are here in the states. If you notice the necessary albums were presented to both men to elaborate on.
I am currently watching this video in 2012 and it's been a year since this video has been uploaded. January 3rd, 2011. I didn't even know until I saw the date.
When these guys are gone, I wonder if mpcs would still be the bench mark of drum machines for hiphop producers. Damu the Fudgemunk is holding his own yet this approach is slowly becoming a dying breed. 9th Wonder is already known as a fruityloops producer. People seem to think if you have an mpc you can make beats with the same substance as these guys. 9th already is evidence you actually don't need a physical drum machine and still be relevant. Top cats are now onto maschine and reason.
I love hearing about the behind the scenes details. It only adds to my personal memories of the music. These are two true pioneers right here. Long live TRUE Hip Hop!
It's Funny that @ 49:12 Pete Rock mentions that Q-Tip didn't do a swap with him, but Tip did give Pete a verse for the INI song called "To Each His Own" on the "Center of Attention" album, eventhough it wasn't released in 1995, he still gave a verse, Anyway, I Luv Pete, I Luv Premier, 2 dudes that made me love that Hip Hop Sound.
This was brilliant. My two favourite living Hip-Hop producers. And I love the mutual respect they show towards each other. Peace, love, and dope beats!
I felt it in the air that hiphop was dying around 2003 shit began to go another way, a homo-thug way jeans got tighter, kats began kissing men on camera niggas strated smiling a little to much something aint rite man....i knew this day was coming welcome to tha GAY ERA of hiphop...lil wanye drake tha cake lip gloss ross dj khaled tha fat arab nikki that weiro bullshit and B.E.T can ALL DIE SLOW
@bandicoot2ps1 japan has some avid hiphop heads, believe me, how do you think they embrace nujabes? why you think pharrell is always there? premier also has shows there.
@bandicoot2ps1 Also, Guru did one of his LAST tracks with a japanese group Cradle Orchestra, Its called You Got To Luv. CL Smooth also did a track with nujabes called the sky is falling.
I wanna hear a little more from them about Large Professor. I feel like he needs to be on that Nas thing theyre talking about too. Wheres the love for Large Pro?
honestly, im a huge fan of nas's illmatic days. i acctualy ordered that exact record, it should come in the mail tmrw, but now a days, nas is talking about how drake and niki minaj are keeping hip hop alive. i dislike that boy now. -.- i swear why cant hip hop remain hip hop. -.- check me out at youtube . com / TheWordMC let's keep hip hop alive. no bs.
Nas go kill yourself. It hurts to say that to my favorite rapper but what the hell is the matter with you? Nas the Best Producers In Rap History On Standby dying to make an album with you what the FUCK is the matter with you? If I could write a letter to Nas it would be like
You as a legend in the rap community have been putting out classics for you listeners and even though you were mainstream you kept it real all the time. Right now is the time we need you the most with we need lyrics again. We need you to get back into mainstream and drop a classic let the world know who is the best not Lil Wayne, not Waka Flocka, not Soulja Boy it's YOU! We need Nas so I can put on my radio again and hear something worth listening to. Do it before it's too late.
T.R.O.Y is one of the greatest beats ever made, The Main Ingredient is one of the greatest albums for beats ever made, no question. It's no suprise these guys crafted the 2 finest instrumentals on the Illmatic classic. It would've been interesting if they'd have compared their Das EFX beatwork. I personally think Pete Rock got one up on Premier on the Real Hip-Hop remix, but much respect to both of these dudes.
thanks for the post....you asked alot of good questions. very educational for me. gratitude. a couple of my favorite beat makers talking about their careers. humble guys.
I am encouraging all Hip Hop fans that are interested in this album to buy it legitimately.Raw Hip Hop is fading out because we are not financing it.This is the only reason.
@stopwhining1 I know to think you have these two legends ready to produce your album and you still dont fuck with these cats who made you who you are... same with jay-z he's still clever just needs these dudes to lay out the perfect beats for his rhymes..
