A performance of Nobuyuki Tsujii was very splendid and was impressed. The melody of the A Morning in Cortona music was beautiful, too, and the shin, tears did not stop. Thank you for upload.
I would like to solve this mystery which has puzzled me for a long time. What did conductor John Giordano say at 3:06? I think he said "I've never tried so hard." Or is it "I've never cried so hard"? Anyone?
@clasidicocallas Trust me, Nobuyuki Tsujii's performances are magical! If you think this video is magical, be sure to check out the "Nobuyuki Tsujii Tchaikovsky 1 movement 1" videos (in two parts) - they simply defy belief.
Congratulations to composer Nobuyuki Tsujii -- "A Morning in Cortona" is a (the?) theme song of a 2011 TV series in Japan! 日本テレビ『Revalue NIPPON Project 中田英寿 日本をつなぐ』 2011年3月5日(土)放送『コルトナの朝』辻井伸行がテーマ曲になりました。
Nobuyuki is a musical genius. In this composition he really captures the essence of a morning in Tuscany - I can hear the birds chirping, and I can see flowers swaying in bright sunlight.
And look how this little video has garnered over 20K views in a few months - my compliments to the uploader!
He is the greatest pianist imaginable, but I'm not so sure he should be playing his pop pieces as encores. This might lessen his chances of true international repute. I am hoping he stops playing these in concert or he may not be taken as seriously as he deserves.
@goodguysdoll What Nobu does for encores is mixing it up. He plays the standard repertoire (Chopin short pieces) most of the time, and then throws in one of his own compositions in the end -- if he's in the mood. In a recital that I attended in California in 2010, he did not play his own compositions at all. Personally, I hope Nobu continues to do what makes him happy and not worry about the hard-nosed critics of this world.
i especially like this cause when he played his song, he looked so happy as if he secretly knew that there is a beautiful world which is composed of just "sounds"

If you have not yet listened to the BBC broadcast of Nobuyuki Tsujii's performance of the Tchaikovsky Concerto, run for it! It is a brilliant performance.
The broadcast started on January 13, 2011, and you can listen to it online FREE - for six more days. Hurry!
An exciting follow-up to my last post. I just heard from the BBC Philharmonic that Nobuyuki's U.K. concert on Dec 10, 2010 will be broadcast on BBC's Radio 3 on Thursday 13th January, 2011 from 2pm. BBC3 streams on the Internet.
In that concert, Nobu performed the entire Tchaikovsky concerto Number 1 and "brought the house down.".
In his very successful U.K. debut concert on Dec. 10, Nobu performed Tchikovsky's Concerto #1 with the BBC Philharmonic and Yutaka Sado - he "brought the house down". Nobu may also have played "Cortona" as an encore at that concert. Read about it on the "nobufans" site.
This video starts with a snippet of Nobu's performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1. There is an Avex CD to come out in February of Nobu's performance of that Concerto IN ITS ENTIRETY with the BBC Philharmonic and Conductor Yutaka Sado. Google "nobufans" and click on the first site to get a link to place an order.
Thank you greatly for uploading this video. Might it be possible for you to upload the rest of the footage of the performance of the Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 1? OR alternatively please contact me by googling "nobufans" - one word. Thanks.
Here's what Nobu said at the end of this footage, thanks to the translation of a Nobu fan in Japan:
"This was the first time I played this (either the Tchaikovsky concerto or the Moring in Cortona piece) but I think I played well and pleasantly and the
audience reacted wonderfully. It was just amazing. I am so satisfied that
everyone was moved. I am so happy that I was able to play very well."

"I just saw, in concert, the most impressive display of musical ability I have ever seen...Nobuyuki Tsujii "
"The way he (Nobu) makes a piano come to life is second to none. "
