if he can't break 20, it's very improbable that he will ever break 10, or even attempt to. i would be more interested to see him try the 800. i think he has a decent build for it
@wh1telightning19 Yes ...... and, even more importantly, he is blessed with an exceptionally high degree of speed endurance. His personal best time for the 200 metres sprint is a (relatively) modest 20.19 - way slower than M.J.'s PB of 19.32. However, Jeremy's personal best time for the 400 metres (which, as we all know, is 43.45) is in the same league as Johnson's fastest time for the quarter mile - 43.18 (which was set in 1999).
they guy whose comment i responded to said "jeremy do the 100 meters and be the 1st white man to break under 10 seconds" and don't get me wrong i DID NOT say he wasn't fast because obviously he is...i simply said no he does not have enough speed to do that..!!!
so before you go talking shit why don't you AT LEAST KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT..!!
jeremy was actually on baylors 4x100m team back in college and he was one of there relay teams best runners, he has a very smooth, long stride and very good footspeed, what he doesnt have is the body/power of a 100m or even a 200m sprinter, but that could be achieved through more intense weight training...so could he break 10s in the 100m, very possble he could, but we'll probably never know
KERRON CLEMENT the 400h who ran a 47.24 and the indoor world record holder in the 400 meters was on FLORIDAS 4*100 team and they actually had the fastest time in the nation he was in fact the best runner on it he has a beautiful stride and is very quick that doez not mean he can break 10 secondz in the 100m and the bodypower of a 400 meter runner or a 400 meter hurdler is in fact stronger than a 100 or a 200 meter runner believe it or not.!
you cannot honestly think a 400m runner has a more powerful body, 100m runners are much more muscular and require more power because they are running a shorter distance and thus need to reach top speed faster, if jeremy was trained like someone such as tyson gay for instance, actually training his 100m/200m speed and putting on some muscle he would greatly maximize his potential for greater speed...i respect ur opinion, but i believe jeremys natural talent + a bit of hard work = POSSIBLE sub 10
when i say body power i don't mean a buffer body. just because a runner is more muscular than another doesn't make them stronger it takes a very strong runner to run the 400..!! yea the 100 runners need to reach their top speed faster but a 400 meter runner needs to hold their top speed longer making them a stronger runner.! break 10...
now i respect you decision as well but some people no matter what they do will never be able to break 10 seconds in the 100 meters and some will never break 44 in the 400 meters and although wariner may run a sub 10.3 i don't believe he can..just like tyson gay i don't believe he will ever be able to break 44 either no matter what type of training he does.!
@iamgannon4life Yes .... but not necessarily EXCEPTIONAL 100m speed. Personally, I think that Jerry Wariner has more potential as an 800 metres runner than as a 100 metres man. As Michael Johnson pointed out (in his recent book, "Goldrush"), the Good Lord gave Mr Wariner an exceptionally high degree of speed endurance. In that respect - if not in any others - Wariner is an even more gifted athlete than Johnson himself.
"sprinter in a middle distance body?" comment is stupid, as the 400 is a damned long sprint where those body types can have that type of fast twitch muscle fiber. Actually, this body is best for this race, as opposed to big and muscular.
@lightdweller big and muscular is not the opposite of haveing fast twitch muscle tissue. I have trained for 3 years to increase my vertical to 38.5 inches and im 19 and 195...i have big muscle but i also worked my fast twitch muslce fibers through large set, small rep lifting doing explosives...so you can have both BITCH. research your shit
@gonewickedsin Type IIx's are actually much more prone to mass. Hence why so many sprinters look big; not necessarily reflective of them being gym rats, so much as an expression of how them having a high ratio of type IIx's
@guitarrrsss Bolt only broke Johnson's 200m, 43.18 still stands by him. And lightdweller is right, MOST 400m sprinters don't have that type of muscle that Johnson did, Butch Reynolds (43.29), Jeremy Wariner (43.45), Quincy Watts (43.50) all had this type of body type.
@guitarrrsss 400m is a sprint. And how am I being stereo typical? 400m doesn't require the same muscle 100m and 200m do, thats all I'm saying. It's defiantly not a disadvantage, cause just like you said MJ holds the WR but Wariner's body type is also normal in 400m sprinting.
@guitarrrsss Um I feel the 400 record which is held by MJ proves he is DA MAN, the 400 and the 800 are also known as the manmaker, plus you gotta have some serious balls to run that race, USSAIN Bolt could get there and he is fast I just feel the MJ holds the true record of speed.
@WildManDan15 Good for you. 400 metres running is not all about pure strength and muscle, by any means; nor for that matter are the shorter track distance events - the 100 and 200m.
If physical strength and power were the most important attributes that an athlete needed in order to be a great 400 metres runner, then Arnold Schwarzenneger would have been able to run the quarter mile in under 44 seconds, back in 1972 (when he was 25 years of age)!
either way, wariner should be happy in knowing that out of all the ppl that hugged, he cud beat every single one of them, they are nothing to him. he doesnt need their hugs, he will break the 400m record before he retires (in like 10 yrs lol) im sure of it, and those others will have no records. wariner wins!!
The "best" part was after the race when all the members of the all-black 4x400 US womens team came up and hugged all the black members of the US mens 4x400 team while all seven of the black people completely ignored Jerimy Warinar, the one white guy, and incidently the fastest. A similar thing happened after the 400 meter individual which was won by Wariner and swept by the US. Neither of his fellow US team mates, both black, would even acknowlege Wariner's existence. It was disgusting.
Actually you are not correct here. In the video link response I've posted you can see at the end that the 4x400 girls congratulated Wariner as they did the others. As they posed with the flags at the end Wariner is in the group but off camera.
apparently this was a 42.93 split for wariner

@lightdweller thats actually pretty dumb saying that when the world record is held by an extremely fast sprinter and he is very muscular
only faster person is usain bolt which beat both of his records

@phastman1994 but whose faster than all of them? oh thats right Michael Johnson
look at the type of muscle usain bolt has, it's just like a 400m but he's the fastest sprinter in the world.
