it was a great movie, i had seen the book before but i didn't read it, so when i saw that there was a movie to it i went ahead and watched...cried in the ending, it was a romantic love story as many others but with a twist of fate,very romeo and julietish, loved it the whole way through, i recomend it

Well made movie, sort of simple but effective. I haven't read the novel so I cant hold any comparisons. The trailer is a little bit misleading making it look like an action packed movie, while most of it is drama.

for those who think it looks more melodramatic than the golden compass, maybe that's because the book is more melodramatic.

having recently read it that trailer looks kinda disappointing. but i am hanging for it. not a fan of philip pullman, but i sure do like the butterfly tattoo.

the photography on that trailer was really good, given its for a low-budget movie . . . thogut i think the movie itself might be little melodramatic, based on that. also, from the author of "the golden compass"? its only called that in one country, and thats not pullman's original title. in any release outside the us, you should change it to read northern lights, or even just his dark materials trilogy
