LOVE that he pointed out that (and how) the earliest Egyptian pyramids were copied from the Sumerians. The earliest Egyptian pyramids were named Saqqara, essentially adapted from the Sumerian word Ziggurat.
i dont know too much about ancient history but isnt sumaria ment to be 1 of the first known civalisations known to us.
i always thought organisation was needed for a writing system to be formed, but they came from mongolia? so were are the ancient civalisation ruins in mongolia?
Sorry you have to read all these antisemetic comments Dr. Neiman. You are clearly a fine educator trying to spread knowledge by using facts. These days people aren't to fond of facts unless they're realted to race:(
Rawlinson said the Sumerians were Kusites and they came from ETHIOPIA!!!! Rawlinson was the first researcher to detect the Sumerian language... to decipher the cuneiform writing Rawlinson used Oromo and Ethiopic language!!!
SUMERIANS and BABYLONIAS were ETHIOPIANS!
"The Babylonians were Ethiopians by BLOOD,and the Chaldeans should be viewed as Negros, not Semites or Aramaeans"
- Seven Great Monarchies -Vol.1 pp. 29 by Henry Creswicke Rawlinson
talking about history never ends, but he is true "Egyptian civilization is influenced by the advances made in Sumer. The building of the temple towers, called Ziggurat lead to the development of the Egyptian pyramid." the oldest Ziggurat found in Kashan Tape Sialk in Iran 5000 years old just Google it
7:10. Dr Neiman forgot an important point about alphabets when he finds Seqoyah's writing a little funny. Although the English alphabet appears to have only 26 symbols, one has to learn the different combinations of these symbols that produce the sounds of English words. For example, the 'sh' in 'English', the 'ch' in chip. That is just the same as learning a new symbol for that combination in Seqoyah's system. Seqoyah's system wasn't weird. It was more consistent than English spelling, in fact
That's the funny thing to think about , they had a more consistant written language than we do today. the worlds contradict the way they are spelled often times in the english language.
You need to rethink your unsupported assumption that the likely origin for every ancient people is the county next door. If you'd dig a little deeper into this than just reading Wikipedia articles you might learn something.

My remark concerns your hypocritical observation that I should have said "origin" rather than "origins" when you yourself had used the word "origins."

Because its unjustified. Unsupported by anything. County, no "r"--look it up if you don't know what it means. Not a straw man at all, it is exactly your argument. No more ad hominen than your "don't waste peoples' [sic] time remark." It is people's. Peoples' means of nations or ethnic groups; "people's" means "of persons." Thank you for correcting my typos in "it's" and "similarities;" it turns out you do have at least some limited brainpower.
None of the Zagros, Taurus or Caucasus are countries. You obviously don't understand sarcasm, and English obviously isn't your first language, so let me make it explicit--I said "county" to belittle your idiotic assumption.
BTW, if you'd bother to look at a map, you'd see that the Karakoram Range is not that much farther from Mesopotamia than is the Caucasus range.
Lord, please save me from more "Wikipedia scholars" and "Youtube know-it-alls" like numbers guy.

If "people's" versus "peoples'" isnt important, why did you waste everyone's time incorrectly criticizing my pluralization? More hypocrisy.
You attack Neiman's unsupported hypothesis regarding the origins of the Sumerians, yet you proposed no evidence for your alternative. More hypocrisy.
If you don't understand that ethnic groups with languages unrelated to those of other local ethnic groups generally are associated with distant origins, read an introductory linguistics textbook.
@hollandy2007 Because you're a bigot? The reason why, is because the Assyrians followed the Sumerian, Babylonian and Egyptian, pay attention before you spout your antisemitism.
i walked up those stair shown at 4:06. unbelieve. the iraqi tour guide walked us through abraham's childhood home and in some kings tomb. the most amazing thing was looking at the sand we walked on; it was covered in sea shell but we were 100 miles from the persian gulf

If theirs is a language isolate, then the nearby regions aren't the most probable origins.

"The Sumerian symbol for "land", if, superficially representing mountains, could indicate their origins are in the nearest mountain ranges..."
Sometimes you understand that an ethnic group can have more than one origin, and sometimes you don't. You're not big on consistency, are you?
