  • By jiminy ! If this tune were'nt ages old , I'd say they were inspired by a very backwards city in the Midwest of the country pre nafta formerly known as usa ! However whereever one may be now , it's quite appropriate for many of the dysfunctional states in our world today !

  • Lodon is perfect and is ideal being a ghostown it is still like that at certain times. It is still a beautiful place and honoured to be a Londoner.

  • London City looks like ghost town on Sundays, it really does

  • Search for Captain Ska "Liar Liar" on Youtube. I'm fairly sure it is going to be a Ghost Town for this generation.

  • Jonbek - Fuck off you tory cunt

  • Sorry! Unfortunately both of you haven't read the comment correctly. Maggie did a good job of destroying this country in the 80's, and I stand by that. However, I did say it was the idiots at Westminster, lab and con, who are responsible. The politicians promise the earth and hardly ever deliver. They are politicians because they are in it for themselves, nothing more!!!!!!!!

  • Such gold this tune! :)

  • Played this on Halloween but love it 365 days of the year!

  • Coventry 1981..... Hull 2010

  • I remember when I was in London last year

    (Not enough pub crawling)

Being thrown by how old everything was

And then this shining enclave in the middle of it all

But I prefered the old parts.

  • good song

  • I have on record Ted...

  • You don't like The Specials? = YOU SUCK!

  • Why does this video show central London? It is far from a ghost town, more like a boom town? A few miles east though is Woolwich which for the past 20 years really has become a ghost town with half its shops gone and all of its night clubs gone and is now plagued by mass unemployment and youth crime. I can't think of a more sadder town in Britain than Woolwich.

  • The facebook page is: "Lets Get The Specials Ghost Town To No1. "

YouTube won't allow us to post a link in the comments area, otherwise I'd just put that.

  • A great tune wich reflected the times back in 1981(and no I didn't blame Mrs Thatcher)which were awful.I see we are back in a similar situation now,and I do not blame Mr Cameron either.

  • Yup.. Cresta.. Thought Humber at first but it's definately a Vauxhall.

  • Remember this from high school when MTV stood for Music Television.

  • RAD!!

  • does anyone know what kind of car that is in the video

  • @tasteymuffins194 Its a Vauxhall PA Cresta

  • fuck off carly fiorina i'm trying to watch youtube, not commercials, let alone political he said she said

  • shaun of the dead ftw

  • This song should be getting views than fucking Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and all trash musicians. This is real music based on real life events.

  • RECESSION!!!!!!!!!

This song reminds me of the eighties when MAGGIE F**KED BRITAIN, seems we're back at square one with the CONS back in power and everyone is being layed off. Kids on the street because there's fuck all to do. It's about time the idiots at Westminster stopped bleeding us dry and sorted this country out.

SPECIALS!!, SANG IT HOW IT WAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Kaisergill A few years younger than you, but can still remember the dark days of the Callaghan disaster. You seem to forget that the Conservatives have a long history of getting left with picking up the pieces of failed Labour governments. Seem to remember it was the unions destroying just about every industry we as a country ever had. As it turns out largely with Soviet money.

Although I got my family out of the madhouse about 6 years ago now.

But hey you still have to love the Specials.

  • @Kaisergill

    you're a moron!

The mess we're in now is not caused by the Tories, it's being fixed by them. Cutting back budget is a necessary part of that, what idiots like you don't understand is that you can't go on forever spending £120 for every £100 you take in, like Labour did in the glory days when things were good.

  • No! Cutting like the coalition is doing is not the way to sort a country out. (though i'm not saying spending under Labour was not a problem) We need to stop the government infighting and get them all together to work it out with no party ties! Of course this would never happen...

  • @Kaisergill What utter nonsense. Our country is 4.8 trillion in debt, much of it caused by Labour. The conservatives are at least trying to stem the tide. Labour were not going to do anything. Stop burying your head in the sand ffs

  • @Kaisergill Trouble is we get fuckin extremes in this stupid rotten corrupt country ; its either New Labour doing all the wrong fuckin stuff, wasting loads of money on the wrong things and letting banks do what they wanted , throwing money at people who couldnt afford to borrow and fuckin up public services and then to the other extreme with these cunts who want to send us back to 150 years ago where we are in the gutter homeless, starving & cold and still calling us workshy !! Tory CUNTS !!

  • Probably one of the most relevant songs from the 80's for today's no hope in sight times!

  • @midnighteuphoria

    Isn't this the 70's, not 80's?

  • @LifesDifficulties No it's 1981.

  • love it.

  • get faded to this track!! =P

  • no I can't see Brixton anywhere in it, the video is shot mainly in the city of london (financial district), and also looks like Bermondsey and old industrial erea. Imagine they filmed at dawn on a gloomy Sunday morning so that all looks so empty and bleak.

  • lol i heard this on jackfm the other day and i instantly thought this song was AWESOME

  • Does anyone know if this video is shot in Brixton (south London)?

  • I know

  • Directed by underground artist Barry Bubbles who designed logos and covers for Hawkwind, the Stiff Records roster (such as Elvis Costello), and tons of other pub/punk rock and new wave groups.

  • This video is pretty funny man!

  • gotta love shaun of the dead for introducing me to this band :)

  • they were in that movie?

  • This song is in the beginning of the film like as soon as it comes on

  • Enjoy it. They are unreal!

  • Amazing how things all come around again.

I remember at the time there was nothing to do - no where to go - and no one had any money. Everything closing down etc. Then the wealth of the late 80s and 90s hit which carried us through until recent times. Now we're back to everything closing down and people feeling worried about the future.

    Great song!

  • hasaan's theme

  • Awsome

  • me chingaron!

  • fuckin skate 2 piece of shit made all these kids listen to this song.

  • it could also be lock/stock or snatch, but i feel you, a song you've loved for a long time cheapened by people who will never understand why its so special to you

  • u need to get over yourself and be happy that a song u like is being revived and exposed to a new generation of kids that know little to nothing about good music

  • I totally agree bro! Now adays, they are calling Sean Paul Reggae. Do they even know what real reggae is at all?

  • no they dont

  • No one is calling Sean paul reggea.

  • im only 15 and i appreciate all music from all generations

  • tis a good ting in my book dat a game has such good music

  • I just watched that movie strangely enough

  • The way the stock market has been going, pretty soon they're gonna' have to redo this video, except using New York/Wall Street as the back-drop...

  • lol

  • do you guys think this song will be in the movie ghost town

  • It should be

  • Brilliant stuff!

  • the specials were good, yes, but nowhere near as good as madness, they were too serious were the specials, madness enjoyed the music and some of the specials music turned a bit poxy. seen neville staples and like half the specials live suppoting the enemy, and it was a good gig.

    EtonRiflesWeller

  • I think this song is way better than anything Madness had ever done, but I think the two groups are pretty much even.

  • yea, i see madness and the specials as pretty much equal. i prefer the specials due to the music itself, but if i wanna listen to music for the fun the band apparently was having, id def go for madness, they were just a fun band.

  • i love this song

  • Comment removed

  • I think the The Specials are one of greatest bands ever.

Though I do love Madness, The Specials are much better in my book!

  • I was introduced to ska in 1982-I was 14...I am now 41 and still obsessed with ska music---The cool thing is my kids also love Ska! As a tribute to my love of ska I recently got a tattoo of rude boy and rude girl skankin' to the beat! I get alot of curious looks but most people ask what it means and say that is the coolest tattoo they've ever seen! The tattoo artist said that in 20 years of tattooing he'd nev
