He should have a slogan "I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter" I think he says something along those lines fairly regularly in the comics...He's even meaner there. Ist Movie Raph and thenew movie are the closest anyone has ever come to Raph's real mean streak in the comics.

Raph doesn't seem mean to me, but just frustrated more than anything, and he's just unsure on how to talk out his frustrations, so he acts out on them instead. That's my take anyways!

Frustrated? He hates everything, most things with good reason, others he just hates "April, can you slap Mikey upside the head for me?...I can't reach" the only thing he's frustrated about is being unable to reach.

Sorry, but if you were to watch the show on a regular basis, you'll see that everyone slaps or hits Mikey, not because they hate him, but because he is annoying, so your theory was just debunked. You are right, he does hate things with good reason, but most of his anger issues stem from the fact that he is the only Turtle that gets it, that they are truly alone in the world.

I am a regular watcher, and ninety percent of the time, eighty if you're lucky, it's Raph hitting Mikey. You hit annoying people in the arm, the shell if they have one, mean people slap 'em in the head.

What's kind of fun? Debating the true character of Raphael? If anything, I always found him to be the most interesting character out of the four, it's probably why he's my favorite.

Yeah it was. I came across it because I was looking for the ep where Raph did say that remark about Karai stabbing Leo. I don't think Mikey could ever had said that without getting his shell whooped by either Leo or even Splinter!

Funny about that. Mikey might have Raph's number, but it should be expected that hitting Raphael will involve being hit back. Mikey just takes it with a grin and another humerus comment.

Actually, Raphael has (with the exception of the first cartoon) always made me think of Piccolo from DBZ; similar personality.

You know, I swore I read something in one of the comics where Splinter, while he he did smack and hit Leo, Don and Mikey when growing up as needed, he refrained from such punishment on Raph because he was afraid it would crush Raph beyond psychological repair. I wish I remember where I read that, it was an interesting piece.

Raphael, ninja turtle Raphael, fragile? That's a bit of a stretch...but the comics have hit on some interesting subjects before, while I have some of the kiddie turtle comics it's hard to tell who got hit. Raph did get banned from the surface a lot though.

It's not so much Raph himself is fragile, just his whole situation is rather, delicate?? I think Splinter was afraid that hitting Raph would send him completely local, and either become very violent and rebellious, or just flat out run away from home. He's more emotional than his brothers, while at the same time, more independent too. It's also why he fights with Leo alot. He does question some authority when it doesn't make sense to him. Often, he is in the right too!

And although he fights a lot with his brothers, you can see how much he cares for them by how protective he is whenever there's trouble. (All that just to say, TMNT rules!)

When Mikey gets hurt (wether that silly cute turtle is faking or not XD ), Raph is the first to react. And in 'Same As It Never Was', he gave DOnny a hug when he supposedly came back after diasppearing thirty years before. The first time I saw him crying in 'Tales Of Leo'...damn i just wanted to embrace him and make him feel better </3
