I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
Because RR make such bespoke cars that sell in relatively small numbers, they cant afford the massive development costs that mass producers like Ford, GM and stuff, that is the reason why so many off the shelf parts are used in it's constuction...
@Xiber1 but it tends to stay running longer than any of the aforementioned makers. ive owned a 500k mile chevy truck. i sold it lastyear. well actually it was destroyed by an ignorant driver. who ran into me. hell the insurance paid me 3 times what i was trying to sell it for lol
@Xiber1 Hate to tell you this, but the RR V8 is an RR original designed specifically for use in the silver cloud II and subsequent models. Many of the early V8's were rebuilt using GM hydraulic lifters as a cheaper option to the genuine article.....as for the tranny, most cars use either GM or Borg Warner Auto's, it's a well known fact. As for suspension, the Silver Spirit used Girling Suspension Components that were also used by a miriad of other makes!
@Xiber1 And by the way, comparing driving a Rolls Royce to driving an old Chevy, is like comparing driving an old Chevy to riding a Bicycle........there's NO comparison!!!!!
love these older rollers . most are in good shape and you can have a RR for a chevy price

Would you really want a car that has had that many keys banging up the dash for how long?
