Good evening again. randyman101, I noticed that you didn't shoot any video from the FTC to Somerset. Do you plain on riding the EL again and posting that video?
Yes, I only had 1gb (internal memory that came with the camera) that only allowed 56 min so of recording. I was running now on memory. When I got to Somerset I saw the westbound train coming.
Today I just got a 4gb sd memory card. Now I can record 3hrs 56 mins of video. I use a mini hand-held battery operated Digital Camcorder. It's had a SD slot that upgradeable to 4gb.
Thanks for posting. I hate the Market-Frankford line. It looks so generic. I grew up in Frankford 2 blocks from the El and it was the El that got me into this hobby and now its not the same. Some people call it progress...I guess...I miss the old BUDDS and the old block signals. The trains moved so much faster and the new cars dont accelerate or brake smooth anymore. the line is like a total stranger anymore....
Thanks and I agree. I grew up in west philly I miss the old budd cares also. I the whole line was clickety-clack until they came out with the welded rails.
The little clickety-clack between the tunnel after 2nd st and Girard will be gone after next week.
They're working on that area now. My favorite memory was when I lived on 61th & Market as a young teenager. The El will never be the same. When the weather breaks I'll make some videos of the Regional Rail Lines.
They just got finished replacing the old jointed rails in that area with the new modern rubber insulated welded rail. That's why that "Clickety-Clack"Noise is gone now. That what made this line fun when I was 9, 10 years old with the old budd cars. I like the clickety-clack noise.
you got that right it scares the shit out of me when it virbrates when stopping espically underground it would going side to side on the EL the new cars are crazy and talkin machine is annoying!
Randyman - There are 12 Clips of the
old Budd Cars from 69 to Bridge with
commentary. This vid is OOP and hard
to find. I'm sure it will bring back some
memories. Take Care, Rich from Phila.
