I was of the "impressionable age" when this was popular and I remember it well. I remember my mom used to have art deco 70's prints on the wall and I thought it was magical. This era of music is sooo much a part of my upbringing! I hope those of later generations can appreciate this music for what it is...for the soul and not for the almighty dollar!
I don't know what planet you all are living on but younger people know who Stevie Nicks is. She is one of my favorite artists and I'm only 21. Everyone I know loves her and listens to her music along with that of Fleetwood Mac. Just because you don't think she is the best doesn't mean that other people don't. I've seen her with Petty, the Mac, and Solo in the last five years and every show is sold out with TONS of people my age. Just Sayin, Rock on Stevie!
Stevie is eternal, through his charisma, she represents the class, beauty, mystery, emotion, poetry... the vibrations she transmit when she sings are anything that makes the greatness of a performance on stage and that is what i like.
the name sara may be the woman mentioned, but this song is about something/someone much more personal to stevie nicks...she has never revealed it publicly.
You are entitled to your opinion, and I do love Natalie, but she will never be a legend. Stevie is a legend. But I don't blame you. You are just not old enough to know.
That's just coz you don't know any young people, if you were gone out a little once in your life, you would have gained the musical culture to recognize a legend.
Please if you do not love this artist, leave this page and do not leave any comment,
The Rolling Stones might be legends. Eric Clapton, the Beatles... not Nicks. She has a nice, distinctive voice, but her music is nothing special and is anything but innovative.
@Zeldovich Someone can be an icon to a lot of people and therfore a legend in there own style of music, has nothing to do how many young peole heard of her, I,m sure a lot of young people did not even know Micheal Jackson was a legend till the day he died and they found out more about him. How many yong people heard of Kate Bush, ? do you know her? and she,s considdered a legend too. Hugh Laurie was a legend in Europe before he acted in : house"USA never heard of him before House
Does anyone know what concert/year this is from? Best version ever of one of the best songs ever. This song like no other have a weird effect on me on some subconscious level.
This is from 1981. only reason i know is because there is a version of Leather and Lace on youtube with her wearing the same outfit and its labelled 1981. I also think it could possibly be in Los Angeles because there is another version of Edge of Seventeen with her hair styled exactly the same, just in a different outfit. And There was and interview in which she referred to (what i thought was) that performance being in LA.
I agree with you completely. This song never gets old and the lyrics touch me every time, the depth of it all. Stevie has been so Gifted, lived quite imperfectly and is so amazingly beautiful as she comes shining through via her soulful lyrics and music. I love her:). What she gives back is so tremendous beyond words.
I actually went to see them (FM) a couple of days ago. When they did this song I just started crying like a baby(happytears). She can still deliver like no other.
Sara is my all time favorite Stevie song. Anytime I was upset about something, I would listen to Sara full bast, and I'd feel so much better. I love the long version the best. The more the better. Thanks for posting.
I Love her. How God has Gifted her so. Thank you so much for this. I'm jealous and can't help but to admire her for everything she has been through, receive her endless Gift of Love and praise her and pray for her, accordingly. May you always Live soaked in Love, Stevie.
Man, it makes ya wanna cry . . . I totally miss the heydays of S.Nicks and a handful of other amazing, SUPER-ICONIC rocker chicks who were so beautiful, sexy and larger than life on stage . . .
Love your comment! I just saw Miss Stevie Nicks live the other night and it was magical and mystical! Add Ann and Nancy Wilson (Heart) to your list too!
Thank you. Well I had the honor of meeting Stevie on 10.01.2001 after the last show of her TISL tour; my dream come true. She told me a lot of stories about a lot of songs but the night is like a haze for me; its hard to remember it all clearly, like a dream for sure
CyberManin, I see your comment was from 6 mos ago, sorry so late...I always thought 'Sara' referred to Stevie's great aunt. A lot of people on these video blogs writing what it's about....your comment sounds right, wondering how you know, did she ever say in interview, etc. Thanks :)
I understand that the opening lyrics refer to the abortion from the perspective of the aborted child "said you'd give me life, but you never told me, about the fire (abortion)." Some say that Don Henley was the father (building the house). Then the song takes on several other meanings of course as many of her songs do. Some say that "Sara" was the name of the unborn child "you're the poet of my heart," and others say "Sara Fleetwood" inspired the name.
Hi ! I've knew that in fact, "Sara" was Stevie Nicks best-friend, and that this song was for her, cause at a period when S.Nicks wasn't in a good form, she wanted to see her friend, that's called "Sara" in the song, but she couldn't saw her cause she was already dead cause a kind of cancer. I've searched some informations about Fleetwood Mac, and saw that ! Awesome song, thanks for sharing it. BYE !
Sara Recor didn't die of cancer, Robin Anderson did. And she wasn't dead when "Sara" was wrote, or during this performance. She didn't die until late 1982. Also, Stevie has stated many times that "Sara" is about many people in her life at the time, not just Sara Recor.
Hi ! I've just written what I've read , and what I've had with Google , whzen I was searching to know more Fleetwood Mac's story, cause I've always respect Stevie Nicks. You seem to follow this band, so perhaps are you right, I won't tell the contrary. It's just what I've read. The fact is that I really like this band and regret not to have seen them. 5* for this video, without hestations ! BYE !
Stevie strapped Yak jerky around her waist during concerts so she could soak them in her sweaty, fishy, blood-engorged cum cavern. In between songs she pulled 3 out and put 3 in. Lindsey Buckingham enjoyed the flavor of the cunt- marinated jerky after the shows. The band loved to get high and play "egg toss" with Stevie's full colostomy bag. It usually busted when Christine tried to catch it because her glass eye and scoliosis prevented her from competitive.
This song takes ages to get used to with the remastered version on an iPod.. the effects are confusing at first but then it just makes it even more amazing.

Funny how stories are told about Sara...so many of them!
The original song "Sara" was 16 min. long, Stevie wrote it in one night.
Sara was written about a few people in Stevie's life at that point.
Sara is so to speak the Stevies Muse,
'But when you build your house, then, call me home' She is referring to Don Henley.
'And it was just like a great dark wind' refers to Mick
'The laces, undoing the laces.' refers to Micks shoes.
As you well know, Stevie in this song is my favourite ♥
