  • WOW this sure brought back lots of memories!! Thank you so much for making this video!!

  • OH MY GOD!! I REMEMBER THIS!!! I was born in '85 & I recall, Santa Pictures, & I remember there being people inside the old Natick mall yelling things, the Rebuild of it was finished in like 1994, & then they put in a MASSIVE expansion which was finished in 2007 & the expansion itself, not including ANY of the Natick mall that was already there, IS BIGGER THEN THE MALL WAS...

  • i remember my parents taking me & my bro to Shopper's World

back in the 80s, i was little but i still remember having fun there

& having my picture taken w/Santa, i miss it, it so sad to see it go!!

    Thanks for posting!!

  • Thanks for this. All I can think is that developers would see all that open courtyard area as wasted space now where they couldn't turn a profit. I remember hangin' out at Shoppers World when I was a teen. Hickory Farms, Winsor Button, all of it. I had forgotten about Herman's! And what was with that white dome over Jordan Marsh?

  • That would've been a cool mall to still have today. Now people don't take pride in their work like how they made the old shoppers' world. Stupid investing has now taken over, only for the profit of retail, like the people that planned the present design.... uugghh, SICK BASTARDS!!!

  • I worked there. It was a great mall!!!!!

  • Thanks for the video I used to walk there with my friends in the teen years always people to hang with. used to shop with my mother and Grandmother at Jordan Marsh. Those were the best years.

  • Thank you for the video, I miss that place.

  • The new Shoppers World is not very atractive at all. I miss the old perfume fountain from the mid 50s.

  • Wasn't that clock at 1:18 later transferred to the Natick Mall?

  • The thing I remember most from this place is the pay toilets. My mom never wanted to pay the dime to get in, so she made me climb under the doors.

  • Whoever demolished this place is an idiot. It was the first mall in the U.S.

We used to go Christmas shopping here when I was younger. I saw Santa here when I was very young. I remember a little store were I bought a game for the Commadore 64.

Ohh... and right across the street was an arcade called Fun an Games (its still there but nowhere as cool as it was back in the 80s)

  • i knew a guy that was soo dumb he thought Jordan Marsh was a swamp

  • Who ever did this to this shoppers world should be strangled and hung and roasted over a fired to a crisp burn residue.

Every time I look at this old video, it makes me wander whoever maggot came up with a plan to destroy that legendary place and turn it into nothing more than a barren u-shaped strip mall filled with these large big-chain stores. The thing that strikes me is how much it would have cost to put a retractable roof then to destroy it and build a who new set or buildings...

    :(

  • Thank you for posting this time capsule of a video. I spent my childhood years school shopping at JM with my mom, and their bakery's strawberry frosted cupcakes left a permanent fond memory with me. Took the bus in (lived in Holliston) and hung out at the mall during teen years. This place was awesome! And I agree with the other comments; the "Natick Collection". I drove down there twice and the parking was so limited, the drivers rude and frazzled. No thanks! Won't be going back there!

  • I think Shoppers World was either the 1st Mall in America or one of the 1st. I never go to Natick Mall anymore, it takes half a day to get from one end to the other.

remember the christmas displays, the movie theatre and "The Round up" steak house!

    great vid' thanks for posting

  • I spent many teenage days and nights there. First dates at the movie theatre, palm readings at House of Zodiac, sliding down the escalators at Jordan Marsh, feeding the raindeer, even an open audition to be in a Kudos commercial. Good times!

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • Love the video! I grew up in "the ham" my whole life and seeing this video takes me back!

  • kinda creepy to watch this

  • I knew a guy who was so dumb.............he thought that jordan marsh was a swamp.

  • I have some aerial pics I took of this (sounds like me flying overhead), and I also have some pics of it under water during a flood. I MISS THIS PLACE!

  • Blizzytiger, you hit it right on the head. Route 9 would have benefited so much from an upgraded design changes that incorporated open air and less car centered philosophys. The Wrentham Outlets isnt bad. I have never been to the Dedham one, but I went to Route 9 for the first time in 2 years yesterday and I was dismayed to say the least on how much of a mess it is.

  • Thank you for posting this, I felt like I went back in time. It was so much more enjoyable to shop on Route 9 back then in general. It was simpler and more civil. The old shoppers world had a nice calming effect with its open air design.

  • @ashland1977 Yeah, the new one is all about driving from one end to the other.

It's interesting how the more manageable open-air mall has made a comeback in the past few years (ex. Wrentham Outlets or Legacy Place in Dedham, which I think still has too much car-focus, but not as much as the new SW).

  • I miss Shoppers World, although shopping there in the winter with the winds whipping through was awful. Good times, though!

  • A friend sent me some pic of the old shoppers world. Spent a lot of time there the movies papa ginos with the juke box at the table. One time me and some others found a way to get on top of the JM dome. good times.

  • Wow this really takes me back. Thanks for posting.

  • wow, i don't remember that shoppers world. i was 5yrs old in 1994. looks really different from the current shoppers world...hmmm. interesting to see.

  • @JayeLB11 You have no idea of the good times you missed...Movie theater..real reindeer in the winter..girls walking around every where...alot more cooler stores etc...

  • I'm not sure if it would survive today, but I miss it. The landscaping there was so beautiful, and who could forget the real reindeer during Christmas.

  • I remember that Jordan Marsh Dome Roof....that was crazy...

  • The Cat that I grew up, that my parents got for my sister before I was born came from Doctor Pet (in the Old Shoppers World....). I miss it being a mall like that....the New Shoppers world SUCKS!!! it's a Big Ass Plaza, I can NEVER FIND A PLACE TO F-ING PARK, because I only drive large vehicles...& I work at the Walmart next to it (Immediately right after it on Route 9 if you're going west towards Worcester on Route 9...)

  • Bring back the House of Zodiac!!! ;)

  • I have aerial pics of the new Shoppers World being built. I think you can see remnants of the old Shopper's world in those pics.

Man, I loved the up/down ramps and the Toy's R Us tunnel. The things I did with a superball in there...Whew!

  • totally agree....definitely brings back alot of memories....

  • brings back so many memories...thanks

  • i think i'm going to cry. brings back so many memories

  • I totally hear you. It will never be the same again.

  • Awesome footage! Thanks again for the upload!
