@mathieu1711 Really? So you know for a fact that all corporate pilots get paid exactly the same? You know how much I spent on my ratings and how I have worked to get discounts on every one of them? And how much my discounted prices were? And you know for a fact my personal finances? Youtube comments will never cease to amaze me how many "experts" there are out there.
@krogen42hull198 and youtube will never cease to amaze me of the bullcrap videos people put up. You obviously can't read either, I simply said it's probably not your salary as a corporate pilot alone that paid for all of that. 7 000h + lol according to that you've been flying nonstop minimum of 1000h a year since you were 16. So yes, youtube is the place where people can dream up a life :D
@mathieu1711 Backpedaling from "there's no way" to "I simply said 'probably not.'" I've averaged 1,000-1,200 hours a year since 16, with my most being 1,400. When I graduated from high school I had 1,300 hours and my Commercial Single, Multi and my CFI/MEI and then I really began to speed up. When you're obsessed with Aviation and fly every chance you can, it's possible. You don't have to believe me, I don't care. I'm living the dream and it's my logbooks that are filled, not yours.
Very impressive and well done! I really enjoy seeing someone achieving a dream and you appear to be giving aviation everything you have. If you see me at an airshow someday, come by and say hi.
Hey man...long time since we flew with Jeff. Great video! Just linked to it through my wife's facebook page of all things, and there you were...random.
Is that Barry Schiff with the TWA shirt? I knew his son when I was at TWA, great guy!Derek
@lddevries Hey Derek, how have you been, still flying the ~1900? Yes, that is Barry Schiff, we got typed in the Ford Trimotor together, and have stayed in touch with him since. Great guy!
You are a very lucky person. My goal is to be an Airline pilot, and I would like to start flight training ASAP. My only problem is finances. Do you have any suggestions?
Did you go to college or university after high school? I currently have 350 hours just graduating from high school, should I continue pursuing flying or attend post secondary?
@scvs2 If you're going to persue a serious flying career, GET A 4 YEAR DEGREE IN YOUR NAME! I can't stress that enough, especially in this time in the industry. I just finished my bachelor's within this past year, and am thinking about getting my Master's Degree.
All of these people saying you're full of crap are in a way saying they are extremely jealous of your hours.
I am curious why you have so many ratings and how you paid for all of it? Do you just want the ability to say there is not a single plane, or flying object, out there that you can't fly?
your saying should be "I can fly the box it came in."
Saw you did you seaplane at Jack Browns. If your ever back down in Florida in Tampa/Orlando area let me know. Would be great to have you come fly with me.
very good video. im working on my private ticket right now, training out of a diamond da 20 and loving every second of it. im in the pre solo stage of my training and starting to get the hang of when to flare and all that good stuff about landing haha. my goal is to get into the commercial business and like you i try to spend everyday at the airport and take every oppurtunity. :)
Hey not to take anything away from you or anything but how on Earth did you accumulate over 7000 hours by 23???!!! Did you get a job straight out of school or have 'special' connections or what??? Just curious.
@scanmannz I was instructing before I got out of high school, continued for several years after on the side to include still today, while flying any other flying job I could get my hands on. Networking is critical in aviation, especially when you are a low-time pilot and trying to get your first turbine job. Be seen around the airport everyday all day. Never pass up a good opportunity to fly or work. Being qualified in as many aircraft as possible helps as well.
@krogen42hull198 Instructing before you got out of high school? That's my goal. I'm a high school junior at the moment and am about to take my private pilot checkride. I have to ask, how on earth did you manage to finance that all that flying? I've got a job too, but money comes slow during the school year. How did you balance flying and work with school and other extracurricular obligations and activities?
@krogen42hull198 I dont' believe you at 100%... I'm 23 like you and I have 700h, now flying the Learjet 40.
If you have +7000h, it means that, consider first licence at 17years that is MINIMUM, you fly 1166,66h per year. The maximum legal is 900h but it consider commercial aviation.
Flying 1166h per year it means that you fly EVERY SINGLE DAY 3,2h.... I don't say it's impossible....but VERY hard to believe...
@sundek88 I've acknowledged that there are always those who say its impossible and that I'm inflating my time, that's fine-I say again, there is no limit on # of hours in Part 91. When I got out of high school I had 1,300 hours and yes, flew between 1,200 and 1,300 per year for the first few years, although I've been closer to 1,000 recently. Some days I'll have a 12 hour flying day then fly only an hour or two for several days following. So yes, as an average, I guess that's I've done 2.3/day
@krogen42hull198 Hey mate lovve your video and i also had a read of the article. Im just wondering and Im not trying to give you a hard time but how can you fly 1300 hrs a year when your only allowed to fly 900 a year? or are the rules different in the US cause im in Aus? Are they all private hrs?
@cessnaclub Only 121 and 135 restrict the number of hours a year the FAA says you can fly. Part 91 flying, which includes private flying and all commercial flying (including corporate) that is not required to operate under a 135 or 121 certificate, has no limit to how many hours you can fly. Glad you saw the article- I was amazed when I heard it was being printed in Australia's aviation magazines!
great vid, man!!! i admire your work, your passion, and the fact that you earned everything you have - moreover, you're not afraid to admit it. keep up the great work, great vids, and best of luck to you!
@t008er Yes it was. There are two different models of the Ford: The 4-AT and 5-AT. The 4AT, I believe, was used in the Indiana Jones movie. This is a 5AT, which is significantly larger and requires a type rating. N414H has been used in several movies as well.
Very cool. I got my private license years ago. Haven't flown for quite a while, but your video reminded me of how much I used to love night flying. So peaceful and definitely a spiritual experience (for me).
@cutmullets Thank you for serving. You're right, it must be nice to have rich parents to pay for your training. Every single rating in this video was paid out of my pocket as a result of my money I earned working very hard. Any advice I've given in the other comments to guys starting out civilian flying include working hard as well to build flight time and ratings, not to get rich parents.
@krogen42hull198 Well then I apologize. I just assumed you had a wealthy family. Considering your age, and the people you were flying with. That was my fault and I should not have said that.
great video! savor every moment- my husband was a commercial pilot for many years and and he had a stroke at age 48! This ended his career, and it took us 10 years to get his medical back so he could teach flying. He flew all different planes(his favorite is the L1011) and was a corporate chief pilot, and airline pilot, and has his A&P to boot. He has over 18,000 hours with 9,000 as PIC. Keep flying and chase your dream!
I love the Tri- Motor in this video. it is just one of the coolest things I have ever seen in flight. Sheer beauty if you believe in beautiful planes. Have you ever thought of paying forward to others? This would be a great video to play, and then speak to some young people to show then what school, hard work, and believing in your dreams can do?
The naysayers just make me laugh.....so many people never find their passion.
@steveinwa1 Good idea. When I was in high school I was a flight instructor and did a few presentations similar to that, speaking about becoming a pilot, but a career day presentation incorporating this video would be a good idea I think. I will definitely consider that
This is awesome and shows what flying is really about! Hard to think that you're only 24 and have over 7,200 hours! Are you an airline pilot aswell but just do all this flying on the side?
awesome video by the way. so once you got you CPL how did u then build your hours?? did u go into instructing straight away once u got your cpl or did u do something else??
I'm happy for ya kid. Ignore all the jealous haters, life is full of em. Glad to see you took advantage of the opportunities that God gave you. Also nice to see what a great relationship you have with your father, that's rare these days. Enjoy every minute cause it goes by quick....
Leave the guy alone. Maybe he has had many more doors opened than others. Regardless, he is in love with flying and that is what alot of us need to get in touch with again. Nice video and many more happy years "up front".
Do you have any advice for someone coming out of high school with not a lot of money but enough for schooling, and who wants to get up and running with something decent and steady?
@Ichvyenichalster If its what you love, invest the money you can into flying, and your time. Wash airplanes, fuel airplanes, anything that you can trade in for flying lessons, and later for building hours. And make friends with everyone on the airport that has an airplane, and help them out as much as you can.
@krogen42hull198 thats a good way to get started... i hung around a small airport in highschool and shortly after i graduated i got a job there as a lineman. that was 2 years ago, now i'm flying 310's and 421's and i love it. I know i should be in college like all my friends, but i can't stop flying long enough to do it! ... haha
Always clap when you pilots lands and if you have a chance, comment to him/her that the landing was good. They appreciate that and remember, your life is in their hands.
Nice video, man!!!! Would recommend it to many flight students, instead of the typical "airline" approach. That takes a lot of dedication and passion for flying. To all the ones, who are saying you are bullshitting: prepare the facts first and then argue, and jealousy is a lousy feature in pilot (any pilot). All the best!
@shuras85 Thanks, man! Finally a non-downer comment! I'm glad you understand, it does take a buttload of dedication to go through all the freakin' checkrides and hard work... hopefully getting my Commercial Gyroplane rating next week down in Arkansas! Can't freakin' wait!
@krogen42hull198 Realy? because aviation law acording to ICAO limits a comercial pilot to 900 hours per year, so youve been flying for 5 years even if you flew the max hours (which im prity sure you wouldnt do with any airline!) you still wouldnt be close to having over 7000 hours....
@willpenny7 Nope. Hour limits apply to those flying part 135 and 121 airlines. All commercial flying done part 91 (such as corporate, flight instruction crop dusting, and so on) has no limit whatsoever to it. I've averaged 1,200 hours a year (one year I did 1,400) since I was about 17. I'm 23 (recently turned 24). More than 6 years averaging 1,200 hours a year....
@damiantymkiw Its a safety thing with airline pilots, we are limited to 900 hours per year, this stops our companies flying us too often and too hard, you could imagine the low cost airlines working their pilots hard thus causing fatigue and thats where accidents happen!
Holy shit dude, I am not saying its impossible but you probably have to be loaded. Hell I would like to fly 1,200 hours a year, I just don't have the money to rent planes for that much time. Does your dad or family member own an airline or something? Just curious.
@HDaviator I wish I was born into a rich family! Not at all, I instructed a lot my last year and the first couple years after high school, ferried airplanes all over the country while doing many other side flying jobs, and got on flying a Citation right out of high school. I got my corporate job flying king airs, which we fly A LOT, when I was 20 while still flying side jobs on days I'm home. It just adds up when you average 3-4 hours a day and fly every day, sometimes up to 12 hours a day
I envy you! Currently taking lessons at my local flight school in Venice FL, love flying the 172SP, hopefully going to become an commercial pilot! Keep flying, and clear skies to you fellow pilot!
man your life seems wonderful. it is a dream of a lot of people including myself to live a life like yours. to me there is nothing more fulfilling than flying. cheers for posting
I don't think I've ever been more jealous of anyone... If every pilot had the dedication and initiative that you do... That'd be a shitty world, cause I'd never get a job!
Nice to see that someone has the posibility to fullfill their dreams/interests, and not end as many of us other, only able flying flight simulator at home and hoping for a jump seat on holiday flights, as we live in countries where income is much lower and aviation related education much more expensive then USA...
You are one lucky guy getting to fly all these different types of aircraft! I've just started on the long road to becoming a commercial pilot. Keep the videos coming!

@damiantymkiw Its a safety thing with airline pilots, we are limited to 900 hours per year, this stops our companies flying us too often and too hard, you could imagine the low cost airlines working their pilots hard thus causing fatigue and thats where accidents happen!

@krogen42hull198

I don't think I've ever been more jealous of anyone... If every pilot had the dedication and initiative that you do... That'd be a shitty world, cause I'd never get a job!

Great documentation, not to say nice life :-)
Nice to see that someone has the posibility to fullfill their dreams/interests, and not end as many of us other, only able flying flight simulator at home and hoping for a jump seat on holiday flights, as we live in countries where income is much lower and aviation related education much more expensive then USA...
