Porsches have always been a dominate force on the street and the track. Rules were changed because of the fuel injection...turbo boost and amount of power generated with various displacement motors. Look at the 935...917...962....etc.

Aye guys.....both cars setup correctly will crush anything. THey are already fast.....I own an old 930 turbo built and beats my stock 7.0L Z06 to 130mph. 30 year old car built. Bone stock the Z06 is a beast. Newer porsches and corvettes both handle like on rails. COrvettes were not known for their handling until recently. Porsches were always a more balnced car. It wasn't until the ZR1 came out in 1990 that the V8's were back and found a way to generate power around the smog regulations.

Speaking as a European I think the Z06 is quite a nice car and it is faster in a straight line and on a track but you wouldn't get away with driving one over here. Driving an American car is like blasphemy, the disrespect would be too much to live with. In Europe arriving in an American car is like turning up to the opera with a Hawaian shirt and combat shorts on. Porsche = Class Corvette = Trash. Visit Monaco if you don't believe me.

i agree. the majority of people are ignorant and cant admit that the corvette is one of the top track car. just because its "american" doesn't mean its worthless. a TRUE car performs well on TRACK, not the streets. anyone can do well on the street, just add upgrades (turbos/nos) and ur car is set for the street. but that will NOT help you on track. the corvette has proven it can go up against supercars by Porches, Lamborghini, Ferrari, etc...

@kushnugz when you are going above 150 you want cars around you to be able to see you so they can either stay in their lane or move before you get too close because panic braking at those speeds is just unrealistic no matter how good your brakes are....plus you're pretty much fucked if you get clocked on radar at those speeds anyway haha

I love Porsche but yea theres alot you can do to the Z06 a guy here in az with stock block put down 900rwhp with a procharger no even a turbo. Can alway throw an iron block and go for 1500hp or LSX 2500hp both sic cars though

hehe so he read the brochure.. Actually, the Z06 would destroy it both on track and in a straight line. The Z06 took the Ferarri F430 on the Sebring raceway, it pulled away and it was gone in minutes. Ofcourse Porsche doesn't suck, it's a very good car, just the new vettes are just better with performance now.

This was a pretty good race, but it kinda looked like the guy in the porsche was intimidated from jump by the vette. The driver of the vette obviously new what he had and was totally confident and solid with his driving.
