The log is on the table as a prop in Les Paul "Alabama Bound/Dark Town Strutter's Ball" ON youTUBE Its the Eipiphone on the table. It has a 4x4 post down the middle of it. Look closely at this and you shall see the sides are kind of crooked, and the 4x4 is visible too. This was "the log". Les gets a lot more credit than deserved for guitar inventing. He does not get enough for recording techniques. This is his true genius and where he was a super innovator. Everyone uses these now. EVERYONE!

He was working on the idea as a teenager, and essentially had the thing done, circa 44'. His world famous technique was a byproduct of his need to demonstrate the results of his tinkering.
Every solid body descends in one way or another from what he crafted out of a 4x4" block of wood.

lespaul was not the inventor of electric guitar. The first one to be issued is the Fender Telecaster. The gibson lespaul appears a little bit later.

The creative juices that Les had should inspire us all. He had some great ideas and not only perfected his inventions but also his playing. The city of Waukesha should be embarrassed that they didn't finish his museum exhibit before he passed away. I hope they bury him with his ass sticking out of the ground so Waukesha can kiss it!

Sad to see old Les put his guitar in its case for the last time. He was a lovely, witty man. He was not, however, "the inventor of the electric guitar". Heck, he didn't even invent the Les Paul model. Gibson engineers did that. Les was simply asked to endorse it, for which he received a royalty.

PBS's may run it's "American Masters" triibute to LP, w/Bonnie Rait as host. A documentary that captures details of transforming a orchestral rhythm tool into a completely new kind of instrument. He was working on the idea as a teenager, and essentially had the thing done, circa 44'. His world famous technique was a byproduct of his need to demonstrate the results of his tinkering.
Every solid body descends in one way or another from what he crafted out of a 4x4" block of wood.

That Fender strat has no place in this clip, and you made no mention of Paul's contribution to the recording industry and recorded music as we know it today- for those of you that don't know, he also invented the multi-track recorder, opening up HUGE possibilities with music production. the list of legendary rock group people that SHOULD show up at L.Paul's funeral to pay their utmost respects to THE pioneer man himself, will be an endless one. Again. All of us are nitpicking. Yes, we guitarist's know he didn't invent the electric guitar and showing Townshend with a red Fender Strat is not right, but let's look at the big picture. He was a great innovator in music, not just the Gibson lespaul guitar, but in recording. So, for a change, how about we give Les Paul a big hand for his contributions to the music industry.
