@ptdnet A statement of pure ignorance. The FIS sanctioned it and the racers skied it. Darron's name is on the gondola and it's official. Tha Mausefalle might be spectacular, but the final jump is the only thing that has changed in the last decade because so many racers have had serious injuries there- ie. Scott McCartney. Eat it, dude! This one is in the books.
I was at that race in 2001, 2002, and 2003. Darron always skiied the top of that course well (Mausefalle and Steilhang). Regardless of the fact that they shortened the course that year, it is still the toughest in the world and he won. I have been on that course post race and I can tell you that it is an incredible accomplishment to win on the Streif...its a super steep double fall line all the way down!
Hang on, boyz, for me, Daron Rahlves never won THE HAHNENKAMM as that year the downhill course was shortened by a great deal due to the weather before the actual race... No Mausefalle, no Hahnenkamm... P.S.:, during the trainings it was Hermann Maier (Winning his "the comeback Super-G race" at those races back then) who kept on clocking the fastest times at the top sections of the course...
Shortened course does not count. The top is best part.
