  • @BoogPow actually the first one singing is Carl Wilson, bruce is playing bass.

  • I really like this one

  • RIP CARL.

  • If Manson was watching the second song, never learn not to love, he probably would of thrown the t.v out of the window

  • @dickship2312 Seriously?? Don't ever say that.

  • Whatchoo talkin' bout? I love Carls' voice on this song. And am very thankful that Mike Love was not doing his childish pantomime thing on this video.

  • Dennis struggled on the high parts, but it's ok. This is a great video, both songs have a story, Mike Love looks interesting, Carl looks 17, and well, just look at the nutty set. Interesting visually, even if it's not the greatest piece of BB audio.

  • Carl, we hear your sweet sweet music....RIP great man....thank you for leaving your music to us

  • I love this but it never seems quite complete without Brian

  • Rock On, Carl!

  • Without a doubt....Mike love is the most talented finger snapper in rock in roll history.

  • RTB.....You are on target re: his vocals. It's a voice with character, but not trained.

  • Too bad the designated lead singer of the group, Mike, was the worst singer of the 5 (6)!! Of course he's not doing much of anything on these videos...

  • Well tiny, you've just proved to the world that any jerk can have the freedom to not engage in an intelligent conversation.

  • Thanks for posting this beautiful pristine voice of Carl's singing a wonderfully crafted song by a wonderful person and band. It's so pure, please never remove it.

  • This video is great so many ways. The best part about it, is that we get to see Mike's importance to the group. Even better, is that you know he is really insecure about people looking at him and noticing that he's not doing anything.

  • @TinyMontgomery204 ...Hey Tiny, you must be forgetting who co-wrote many of the Beach Boys hits. Maybe he's not your favorite band member, but have the class to recognize his contribution to the group.

  • @sammylennon160 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • I didn't know Carl could play the drums

  • @RankielGuitar He's not. It was either stand there like Mike or pretend to be playing drums. None of the instruments were live.

  • which 1 slept wth his daughter? wilson philips

  • @gmaileer you're thinking of John Philips, who wasn't a Beach Boy.

  • That second song is terrible........why would they sing a song by a convicted serial killer. In bad taste.

  • @doowoplvr The TV appearance and recording of the song occurred before the murders.

  • @doowoplvr You clearly don't know the story.

  • Come on guys...that's Carl singing and he's doing a great job. Wonderful song by a legendary band who all us boomers sorely miss. Summers aren't the same without the Beach Boys...

  • @paleblue498 might be brians replacement Bruce Johnston singing the first song and looks like Dennis the second. I'm pretty sure that Carl in the back in blue playing guitar

  • @BoogPow you got them flipped. Brian's replacement Bruce is on bass, Carl is singing and the guy in the blue, Al Jardine is the rhythm guitarist.

  • @scarface12347 oh yeah, idk why I always thought Carl was skinny blonde Al. thanks though.

  • takes brass ones to sing live on tv with no retakes, esp. when the mike douglas show (the show on the video) sound mixer was notorious for purposely screwing up rock artist songs, like he did this time. the times i heard dennis speak at a concert, his voice was thrashed. he tried singing you're so beautiful to brian when he came back on the road in the 70's at a day on the green in oakland. it was like he yelled for a week straight w/out a rest. but this song shows he really had a nice voice!

  • is that really carl singing? I always thought it was Brian. Looks more like brian to me o.o

    i dunno. im confused.

  • @jramos037 this is Carl Wilson singing....great voice, but tooooo many cigarettes over the years finally turned that beautiful voice. He was truly a gentleman also...Brian was not on the road at that time, Bruce Johnston played bass instead. Yes, that's Denny (Dennis) on the 2nd song, he could sing also....peace......

  • @drummermaneleven interesting, thanks =)

  • Never Learn Not to Love was Charlie Manson's Cease to Exist song with lyrics changed by Brian and Dennis.

  • My Favorite, Always has been Karl!

His Voice So Perfect, Right On Pitch!

    RIP Karl

  • Brian never kept the name The Beach Boys, so I don't know what you're talking about. The the name of his new band is The Wondermints. And how is it that the lead vocal is live for both Carl and Dennis but the background music and vocals were pre-recorded? Mike does dance like Herman Munster. Or Goldie Hawn on Laff-In.

  • Brian never kept the name The Beach Boys, so I don't know what you're talking about. The the name of his new band is The Wondermints.

  • I'm amazed at how beautifully soft and perfect Dennis's and Carl's voices are "sigh" When I hear them, and I'm just a fan, I can feel Brian's hurt and pain that they have left this world. I saw a post stating that Brian Wilson alone, and the new group that he created shouldn't be called the Beach Boys. I don't know how many songs Brian composed after their deaths, but I think that he kept he kept the name in their honour, as a true tribute to them because they were the original Beach Boys

  • Mike Love and his damn Herman Munster dancing is hilarious. I like Mike, just sayin he is too white to dance.

  • Dennis moving & singing I'm your kind, thinking of Michael Hutchence of INXS moving & singing I'm one of your kind. Just that slow, intense charisma.

  • heh - Phil Spector wrote the first song - Charles Manson wrote the second - now thats a combo!

  • What a great singer and song, look opposite and listen to Kathy Troccolis version

  • Carl was crystal clear in his vocal command! Probably one of the most underrated performers ever. Saw the boys many times. They were always class act!

Rest in peace Dennis and Carl!

  • i only hear carl in this with a backing track lol

  • Charles Manson wrote this song lol.

  • amazing - go Carl (RIP)

  • wow Carl was great singer and entertainer RIP Dude

  • I'm a big fan of Mr. Russo's dancing! "Actually, that's Mike Love." Yes, I know who he is, I was just making a joke.

  • Why the other guys voices can't be heard? That TV show could check the sound before!! Anyway, Beach Boys are Beach Boys! Go on Carl! You did it great!!

  • At least Carl's mike was on. Nothing else seemed to be working. Way to carry it Carl!

  • I was not a Beach Boy Fan but in all honesty they had some really great sounds and this is one of them. Ron

  • I was listening to Beach Boys's tune when I was a child. I was able to see the video that they were performing by YouTube. I like Beach Boys's tune.

  • Rock On!

  • Carl - Great Job. Engineer - Bad Mix Man !

  • to bad no brain

  • weird. and thus did the beach boys give charles manson his first taste of nationwide exposure. good thing they didn't have much time for interviews: "well mike, this next one was written by a friend of ours named chuck. he's a little out there..." how long before the murders was this broadcast?

  • His wee chubby chops. Just cute.

  • dennis looks like kelso from that 70s show :]

  • My all time favorite Beach Boys tune, God what a voice Carl had, unbelievable!!!!!!!

  • Love this song, Carl sings it so well...AND what a treat to hear Dennis sing!

I hope both brothers Rest in Peace. It's hard to accept they are gone.

  • At 3:00 Denny Wilson reminds me of Owen Wilson.

  • Carl Dean Wilson! Truly The Voice Of An ANGEL! Love You 'DARLIN' <3

  • Carl on drums during the second song? Neat!

  • CARL FRIGGIN WILSON!!!! YESSSS! WOW! Never Learn Not To Love Live!!! I never in my whole life expected to see that. VERY COOL!

  • mike love is such a loser

  • @JenniferTomkins apparently, you're not alone. Is this hate for Love (ha!) a common thing among BeachBoysfans? Why?

  • didn't evr see this video...i love this live performance

  • backing mics are off...

  • Mike is soooo lame

  • The second song WAS written by Charles Manson. Manson, however, was pissed that they made changes to it.

  • @Garveergor

According to Manson's own words, he was pissed that he didn't even get a writer's credit for the song. I'd be pissed, too: It's called plagiarism. I've heard both the BB's version and Manson's. They didn't change it so much that, if it went to court regarding the outright theft of the song, the BB's would without doubt, lose. I'm no fan of Manson; just reporting facts.

  • @arfalon

What facts? You're stating only opinions here.

And why have you chosen to give credence to the claims of a killer? When the guy murdered people his moral flame extinguished leaving him with zero credibility.

  • @helenaZZZZirlandaise you should listen to the Manson demos of Cease To Exist. it's definitely the same song structure/lyrics/etc. (search youtube!)

the dude wasn't a terrible songwriter. you can see why folks like Dennis would have been interested in him.

  • @helenaZZZZirlandaise

What Manson said is not my opinion, it's his. This story I first learned in 1977, and is well-known among "serious" BB fans. The facts are readily available. More than one version of THIS song by the BB's [well, Dennis & the BB's] version & Manson's original DEMO are on YouTube as I type this. If Manson tells the truth, it doesn't become a lie because he's a murderer. Dennis didn't credit Manson and it appears he was lucky that he lived as long as he did. R.I.P. :(

  • rip love this toon1

  • I hate Mike Love the POSER !!!!

  • carl can fookin sing.

  • Carl Wilson at his best. Fantastic.

  • They hum little GTO at the end..

  • I love Carl. Lots of negative comments about Mike Love, but never anything negative about Carl. Shows how much you guys love and respect him still.

  • @Helen25243 What could you possibly have bad against Carl? The fact he was super talented? The fact he had the heart of an angel and the voice to match? :-D

  • WOW! That's just great to hear his vocal standing so out front!! :-)

  • Mike Love... funniest guy out

  • So, mike love, you wanna explain to rest of us what the hell you are doing??

  • @TheUpperRoom477 ,Unleashing the LOVE

  • @TheUpperRoom477 honestly i dont think i wanna know, but its just him being mad that he doesnt have the spotlight on his nasal vocals.

  • Bruce said that I Can Hear Music was the first ever Beach Boy track sans Brian.

  • love 3:45

  • What is Mike Love doing? Seriously what?

  • @Awitsaduck

same thing he always did.... nothing. He's like a Hullabaloo girl. A very hairy Hullabaloo girl.

  • @Awitsaduck He actually sings "do re me fa so la ti do" but not on scale haha

  • @Awitsaduck UNLEASHING THE LOVE!

  • They LOOK really cool here. They should've rocked out a bit more. Of course they are miming to the track(except for Carl who is singing over his original vocal).

  • Well, yeah, especially since the second one WAS WRITTEN BY CHARLES FRIGGIN' MANSON!!

  • Charlie is love:)

  • The hell kind of psychopath are you?

  • The kind that likes to fuck with people with no sense of humor like you.

  • @bunnypants23 yes,charlie IS love:-)

  • @jwild611

I Can Hear Music sounds like a top 20 hit!

  • Wow, this is essentially Carl singing accapella. And what you get to hear is the pitch-perfect voice that always sung the perfect harmony in all those classic songs. Thanks for youtube God!

  • @Sincopare

No it's not. Accapella means there is no music behind the voice.

  • Your NUTS !!! Carl looks like Carl and has the voice of the ANGELS. LOL

  • You're completly crazy.

  • How come I dont hear this on the classic rock radio stations? this is great!!!

  • dennis remembers me jim morrison

  • where's brian?? had he already left the band by this point??

  • hes singing i can hear music

  • long gone.

  • @shandar7 yes

  • where is the acapella mike douglas talks about?

  • on my view MD never mentioned it.

  • This is better than any song of 2009!!

  • I think I have to agree with you.

  • Trying to promote their 20/20 LP

  • from The Mike Douglas in Philadelphia. Mike was really good to them during their tough perioeds. Too bad background not heard on I Can Hear Music. Dennis is singing along with studio version of his song. Carl playing drums is only time I ever saw that.

    John Hunter Phillips

  • How high did this go on the charts? Sounds like a winner to me

  • Cover version of a Jeff Barry song, produced by Carl Wilson.

  • the best

  • man not many cats can sing these gorgeous melodies simply wonderful

    rip my bro

  • Dennis was in Manson's family at this time. He was trying to make Charlie into a pop star and it couldv'e happened as Charlie had talent

  • i love carl's voice...its just pure magic, RIP Carl Wilson!!

  • This is great and weird. It appears to be a remix for TV - no lvocals. What's the TV show? They messed up the mix but it's created a unique insight into a more innocent time whre musical talent was more important than technical precision (God I sound old saying that!)

  • I didn't know carl was a drumer

  • Its Dennis

  • i know but in the second song carl is drumming. incase you didnt notice dennis singing lead

  • Dennis is the drummer. Carl is on guitar singing lead

  • oops sorry I just saw the second half. Carl is on the drums.

  • notice someone cut out the vocal harmonies. that takes everything way from the beach boys

  • Mike Love ,.what a mover ha ha ha but we still love him

  • Bah, Love ruined the beach boys..

  • I dont agree with you ,.remember he had drug boozed crazed denny,.plus at times brian on drugs with crazy ideas on music writting ...look its so easy to put mike down ,.but mike must have been pissed off so much with the two off them,.to be fair..

  • remember, brian called love the "voice of the beach boys"

  • yes but still, all the songs that Love sings could be sung by any of the wilsons.

  • Carl!...You ARE AMAZING! i just ADORE this Song!!!! Gives Me CHILLS! R.I.P Carl...The Voice Of An Angel! <3 <3 <3

  • and mike love is doing what..???????????????

  • hahaha!

  • Stealing piggies!!!

    -ATWA.

  • i cant believe mike love had so much hate especially when he was involved in transsendental meditation. he is lead singer now and hardly ever does this song live in concert.

  • What do you mean Mike Love had so much hate? That's an insane comment, and ridiculously misleading, in fact down right ignorant.

  • Its amazing thinking manson wrote this music.

  • Is this a live performance or lip synched?

    No guitars plugged into amps???

  • Sometimes when I hear a song like this and a voice as amazing as Carls it just makes me so sad that I couldnt actually tell the guy in person just how incredible this sound was . R.I.P. Carl .

  • i love Carl

  • Love this song sung by Carl. And no chicken-shit lip syncing(I hate it sooo much when artists sing along to a song being played backstage!) either.....Carl just goes out live and belts out the song.....so fabulous a voice!

  • i agree! The Man Is AMAZING! He KNOX my SOX off! <3

  • This is what I consider their best music. Beach music is nice, but this is different, which is what I like. I can Hear Music and Never Learn Not to Love is my favourites.

  • dennis once said charlie didn't want credit...he wanted cash and that charlie had stolen enough cash from him over the years.

  • I think that "the beach boys" and some other west-coast-60's bands, are the greatest pop makers of all the time.

Really good music, ando not just pop there are many rock and roll bands like LOVE, J. Airplane, The doors, etc. which were awesome bands too.

  • Awesome music! I've always loved music of the 60s, long before I was born. Very nice!

  • good for you... awesome stuff that has inspisred all that is now... just keep listening and try a few new bands!

  • Love it! Beautiful. Carl's voice is just heaven. Denny's got a awesome voice too, under-rated. Then again, The Beach Boys as a band are WAYYYY under-rated.

  • Jesus.. That was awesome.

  • I have to laugh.... yes... mike does do a deaf dance...but, I love Carl! beard and all..

  • lol All the women in my life have their own theme song... sweet, sweet music.

  • 2 songs written by 2 murderers. lol gotta love it

  • I CAN hear music each time we talk. I wonder what I will hear when I see you again after 35 years? Those feelings have never left me. Thank you my Knight of My Heart. :=))

  • lead singer you idiot

  • Lead nobhead more like. The talentless cock.

  • Comment removed

  • Remind me again - what was Mike Love's role in this band ???????

  • He was there to do the dance mock sign language to reach out to the deaf community.

  • bad dancer and a cousin........

  • I could never understand how someone with a last name of "Love", i.e. Mike Love... Could instigate such Hate in people... What's up with this? Oh well, since I don't know the "History of The Beach Boys", I'll just listen to Brian, and Dennis sing. Oh, yeah, and Carl... I think technically, he had the most beautiful voice, of all the brothers. But, what do I know.
