I actually got a treble hook stuck in my finger before exactly the way he described, I had to go to the ER and have it cut out. Man if had only known that i could just rip it out and went on my way think of all the time i could have saved. Im sure it wouldn't have caused and nerve damage or anything. Overall a good tip but it takes too much time with wrapping the line around it.

The real tip should be just focus on getting the hook out in one swift pull, without pussying around.

I was getting a little bass of the hook of a rapala when I was a kid one time, and the pole was bent over as I was going to grab the fish, and it popped off the hook releasing all that tension, the lure came back and drilled me in the hand. I couldnt get it out for the longest time. It took me a damn near half hour. I was just about to ride my bike home with this damn thing stuck in me, but I got it out just in time. What a day!

I stepped on a hook while bridge jumping, its was about a 5/0 Bass hook and was a little less than an inch in the heel of my foot. This technique didnt work, i couldnt push it through, so i had to get my foot numbed and then they pushed it through with pliers, scary part was when the hook started to straighten out because it wasnt strong enough to hold its shape.

my dad had one in his leg for five hours see we got stranded on our boat, he was fiddling with the engine and swung his leg and enbeded the hook in his leg. the 30 mph wind had blown us to shore, we were stranded in 100 degree weather. we walked about 2 hours the wrong way without thinking and brought little water. got dehydrated, finally got back to the boat grabed some food and water and walked for 3 hours. got to a cove some one picked us up god bless the people that picked us up!

But places like the Great Lakes or Okeechobee that are huge and public, it takes plenty of skill to catch big bass, even in small public lakes. Hunters and fishermen should look at suture techniques as well as basic first aide. I was an Army Medic. Wound care is usually treatable in the field.

I didn't have the balls to do this when I got hooked, took myself to the medical center and has the hook cut out and stitched. I watched Bill Dance do this years ago. A friend of mine got a got a popper stuck in his back pretty far. I tried pulling on it with pliers it was stuck. so I grabbed some 50 llb test and gave myself about a foot of headstart and pulled on it as hard as I could as he pushed the eye of the hook down and it came right out.
