yeah becuz whats funny about bluto is how in the earlier popeye cartoons, he was really dangerous and was a real *&^, but then in the newer ones they made him more harmless.
@TrandomnesstwO: You're right. I don't like the harsh Mexican stereotypes in this. This would not sit too well with audiences today. And what do you think Bluto was doing to Olive Oyl in her dressing room? O__o
@31operafan So, I suppose you're completely unaware that (yes, I actually talk like that!) the first FELIX the CAT cartoon ended with Felix committing suicide.
@HooplaDay -- Do you know the title of that picture? I was just discussing with some friends the suicide gag in old Warner Bros. cartoons the other day. Friz Freleng and Tex Avery used it once or twice, but for my money Bob Clampett was the master of the trope. He even managed to shoehorn it into a Dr. Seuss story, for the love of Emil Sitka.
True, but Olive did fight back and rather well, too!
As for anyone thinking of Olive as sexually suggestive, I'd be concerned in more than one way. We're considering someone turned on by a woman built like a pencil.
I love the inkwell in the closing credits!

I love how Olive is always crying out for help, meanwhile beating the shit out of her pursuer(s). Hilarious.

Wish they'd kept more of that side to Olive, makes her predicaments more hilarious.
