I didn't know Robert was playing bass on this as well as Simon. But is that the actual instrumentation of the song (bass-bass-drums) or is that just for the video to make it look interesting? Either way it rocks!

There is double bass. In fact, they kept the same instrumentation for Primary's b-side which was "Descent".

Yes, and Robert always used to play bass with that classic effect, i guess in the past was a 4 string bass, well now a days is a 6 string bass as i have heard and seen.
