  • I found the sheet music by googling "david russell handel pdf". It's in the suite no.7 link.

  • anyone having the sheet?

  • I can't be the only one playing this over and over again..? An extroadinary musical feat by Russel and an awe inspiring performance...What does he say at the beginning...its practically engraved in my brain.

  • Someone having sheets? I would love to perform this piece

  • such a beautiful piece. Beautiful performance. Mr Rusell is a genius.

  • That recording space is so awesome: must be near a 5 second rt-60 with no unattractive room nodes or flutter echo.

  • Best Passacaille on guitar ever.

  • someone should call the exorcist on those fingers.

  • Gr8!!

  • Makes Wlliams look like a rank amateur.

  • @grandadpoppyable -- I met David Russel in a guitar summer camp some 15 years ago. He was there with Stephen Robinson, Scott Tenant and they all performed. I heard him and thanked him and was stopped right after I mumbled: "I heave neveard heard any one like that before!.." He said to me: "Hey...Hey... Thank you but No.... I understand what you mean and I truly appreciate it.. but Naaa.." He is a truly humble man

  • @lafor01 Yes he is definately an awesome person, both in character and skills. A truly living legend.

  • beatiful song, excelent performance...

  • sequences ...

  • De poca, que buen arreglo. FElicidades!

  • Maestro de maestros!

  • When it's given quality music for solo instrument, the guitar is by far the most interesting music vehicle and easily beats all the rest. Some classical musicians (mainly orchestral people) who appear to have written the guitar off the list of classical instruments need to explain to us how this historic performance here is otherwise possible and what other instrument (if any)can reach that level.

  • beautiful

  • no entiendo como 9 personas pusieron "no me gusta"

  • @hugoguitar por es gente ignorante!!!

  • @Soulfree2008 This is just how awesome he is!! :D

  • This is not only one of the best interpretations on guitar.. but of this song on all instruments. Other instrumentists, take heed to the master!

  • Russel is amazing, but the stairwell also gets 5 stars for the insane acoustics.

  • Se sabrá la escala de do mayor? :)

  • Just like a spider on those strings

  • The end was the best guitar I have ever heard

  • This is my favorite Russell recording, a piece that I've listened to hundred's of times.

  • Totally agree, this is an extraordinary performing, great guitarrist.

  • hermoso

  • this video left me to the highest emotional plan i never had before...it is very personal the opinion of who is the best guitarrist...but if you put together technic, emotion and sensibility there is no one above Russel...

  • Of course i cant play the whole thing as well as Russell, but I can play roughly half the variations just about as well. :)

  • I think this is the most awesome classical guitar vid I have seen on youtube.

  • this is jsuch a wonderful song. im learning it myself on guitar. learned the first 15 seconds so far. its hard but if i fully learn it with some time it will pay off for sure.

  • Just immaculate!!!

  • each variation superior than the other, i play this on piano and i can´t imagine how hard could it gets on a guitar!!

    5*

  • @dosergiobr The original was written for a Harpsichord (Handel's work). Then in the end of the 19th century, Halvorsen (or something like that) did his own version for violin & viola. Anyway what we see here is way shorter than the original, but still amazing !

  • excelente bravo bravo

  • i play this on the piano, and it is difficult, on guitar magine how hard could it be

  • @tommyIglesias it's quite hard to play, and it's nearly impossible to play like Russell does

  • keep on practicing David you"ll get there on day!!! what control! I fell so unworthy to say I play the guitar after watching this, but inspired at the same time!

  • i wonder how much practice that took O.o

  • speechless..........

  • I always wonder how would Christopher or Williams would sound playing this peice.

    Thanks

    Marcelo

  • great interpretation :)

this piece is from suite in a -moll

  • 3:15-3:22

    como lo hara ...

    alguien sabe ...

  • Send shivers down my spine!

  • trully a master.

  • wonderful!!!

  • insane:)

  • breathtaking amazing!!

  • A wonderful, wonderful player....

  • Heavenly !!

  • 6/5 stars.

    incredible polyphony

  • I agree )

  • !!!SUPERB!!!

  • Super!! David Russel is the best)

  • Great player: superb interpretation ogf Handel, he is a truly genius.

  • The final portion reminds me very much of the conclusion of Vivaldi's winter movement. Similar to the virtuosic solo violin cadenza near the other Baroque era work. I have to admit, that I much prefer this to Vivaldi's upon this video's first hearing :D

  • David you are a precious precious human being..

  • lol well said

  • this is unhuman how can one man create such a song it left me with my jaw on the floor 5 stars wow

  • @xYEAHxKYLEx pasacaglia not song

  • @xYEAHxKYLEx this video can be proved to Atheist that God exist!..lol yes my friend this is not human.

  • @xYEAHxKYLEx Not actually inhuman, but it is definitely divine, and some, Like David Russell, have the spark of the divine much more apparent...

  • Absolutely amazing!!!

  • I'm playing this for a piano recital in 10 days (yikes!), and want to play it on guitar (my main instrument). However, from my not too extensive searching, to play this you'll have to settle for tab (if you can find it), or figure it out. He transposes this to D minor. It looks quite a bit more challenging than either Las Abejas (barrios) which I just played recently or Leyenda (albeniz) which im about halfway through, and those are tough pieces. Mr. Russell makes this look way too easy!

  • his transcription is on his website! btw you're playing leyenda after las abejas? I would think las abejas is much harder than leyenda.

  • If we think of Grades (ABRSM) between the two pieces, Leyenda would be about Grade 7, and this would be about Grade 1000 lol

  • do you want the score then cuz i can give it to you free well anyone free !! =)

  • I'm playin this on the piano but it sounds evn bettr on the guitar.......

  • I listen to this on You Tube now and again, for sheer inspiration. Fantastic!

  • Beautiful and fantastic performance. I want to play this music like him.

I ever heard this music on violin and cello duo. Now I can hear only one guiter by David Lussell .Thank you Lussell!

  • dose anyone have this transcription im in need for it im in love with this piece help someone :)

  • It was published by Edition Doberman, and since this piece is the finale of the 7th Suite by G. F. Handel, you have to obtain David Russel's arrangement of the 7th Suite. You'll find it by google. I'm going to record and upload this piece within the next few weeks, so you can have a look at my interpretation.

  • Beautiful performance. I would love to play my guitar in that hall, the acoustics are amazing!

  • BRAVO!!!

  • Yes, it was written by Handel but the question was. "Is this his own ARRANGEMENT" This was originally a keyboard work and has been transcribed for guitar. David Russell would have done the transcription himself. He usually does.

  • brilliant stuff on acoustic, sweeping at end is nuts!

  • cracy!

  • Sensational! Is this his own arrangement?

  • I would say so.

  • Tommy afirmo tu comentario, me levanto y aplaudo a Russell, gran Maestro.

  • Wonderfull

  • MAJESTUOSO!!!

    Me paro y aplaudo!

    GRANDE MAISTRO !!

  • Wow :'(

  • were do you get the music or tab from urgent

  • David Russel don't use tabs :)

He uses partitures, and i'm sure that you're not able to read that. ;D

  • correction: David Russell does not use tabs, not don't use tabs.

  • I have seen David Russell in concert many times and I have never heard him perform this piece. No matter how many times I have heard them, circle of fifth progressions always evoke the most incredible emotions in me. Bravo!

  • I think that he plays this piece in the church, becouse i also was playing in the barock church, and there also was this ,,stairwells"(vestry).

  • wow

  • david russell sel il numero uno brilliante

    magnifico

  • mad niggerish

  • stairwells have great acoustics.

  • what movie is this from>?

  • It not from a film or 'movie' in you jargon.

It is from an interview for Spannish TV.

  • WONDEFUL , SIMPLY WONDERFUL

  • Magnífico!

  • Meraviglioso, straordinario. David Russell sei il numero uno. Complimenti

  • THIS IS SO AWSOME. The music is just so beautiful. BRAVO.

    Magna Pulchra.

  • bravo

  • awesome!!!

  • Absolutely awesome.. This transcription seems too hard for a human being. :) For sure there are just very few guitarists who can play this piece well enough. Russell is one of them. Woooow..

  • excellent!

  • Does anyone have the music for this. I think I want to torture myself.......

    Thanks.

  • This piece in the Russell transcription is published by Dobermann editions, it's keyboard suite n. VII by G.F.Haendel

  • is anyone else annoyed at the camera man for not showing DRs hand technique?

  • Yes!

  • amazing

  • I don't think so. I can help everyone.

  • I love it! It's very natural... It's wonderful! Actually, i'm playing this piece. And i have sheet. I can help. Call me.

  • Hi EsuMuzikalus, I would like to have the sheet music for this piece. I hope you can help me. Perhaps you could upload it or send it to my mail?

  • hes like a one man orchestra!!!

  • maestro, IDOLO!

  • maestro, IDOLO!

  • yes i'll do that but i wanted to try it first...but ok i didn't find anything so i'll have to buy it...

  • this exact version is only on sheet music, but you can download some midi files and import them in guitar pro, that way you can play something similar to this.

  • thx for your reply.

  • can you tell me where to find the original one?? without paying?

  • can i dowonload a tablature or something for this?

  • Go buy the sheet music.

  • porbably not, but you might find this in sheet music for free since this is a very antique piece

  • the "tab"? Hahahahahhahahahhahahha

  • D.Russell - one of the best guitarists of today`s time.

  • Passacaglia in Gm Haendel, podrias colocar el nombre bien y David Russell. Gran aporte.

  • Extraordinario...demasiado bueno...gran maestro

  • it proves that he is the best ever.

  • incredible

  • he is the best classical guitarrist in the world

  • I seen him twice and he looks like randy rhoads

  • Maybe he IS Rhoads, and he never really died. Just retired in secrecy to play Classical guitar...

  • russell was already better than rhoads when he died

  • The piece is not complete, could some one tell me the link where it is?

  • Thıs is not true thıs ıs magic waw

  • Dang. I've only ever heard this as a duet. Very impressive that a single guitarist can duplicate two strings. Bravo!

  • could listen all night

  • ahhhh! cesus! stupit camera! We dont give a shit about stairs!!!Russell is teh importamt think

  • And,I think the camera does not know anything about the guitar video recording...The foreground are the stairs and handrails, but not the "guitar". Why someone else does not say anything about this to the cameraman guys before the recording?

  • With only one word,,wonderful!! I know really how this piece is difficult to play, but Russell make this so fantastic and fluent...

  • this song is great,david too :)

  • A true Master.

  • Contrary to other beliefs, this was a really good video. The camera work was great, the setting was really in synch with music. I don't care to see his hands all the time.

  • I would rather see Russell play than video of the stair well.

  • I love his playing and the music, but I wish the camera would have just shown him playing instead of trying to be "artistic."

  • Incredible playing...too bad the camera work is so gimmicky.

  • damn he is wonderfull

  • Easily in the top three of classical guitarists playing today. I've seen him play several times in concert. He's amazing.

  • Fantastic!

  • Damn, he is good!

  • this guy is good
