@lewigimole i would fit on it but maybe it would be better to get the 796 or something a little taller so u dont look like a giant on such a low seat bike haha but definately go to a dealer and sit on one and see if youre comfortable
@secretpolice yes it is my first bike. i took the MSF before buying my bike and i highly recommend it. shifting is simple and not hard to learn at all. the throttle is what you need to be gentle with
@s0ggyrice A few reasons to lower your bike. 1. lowered bikes are aesthetically pleasing. 2. I would be so embarrassed if I was tip toeing at every stop or when I get on my bike.
@oknasob 1. i dont find lowered bikes aesthetically pleasing. 2. im not embarrassed for who i am and how short i am, im just happy i can ride a motorcycle.
@s0ggyrice I think you be more happy if you could ride a motorcycle that fit you. If you don't like lowered bikes you should have bought a bike that fit you better. I've seen way too many people think they can ride the bike fine at the height it is, needless to say they dropped it. If you keep tip-toeing the bike you will drop it... the odds are against you.
@oknasob who r u to say that a certain motorcycle fits a certain person. so just because someone is short they shouldnt ride a bike because they have to tip toe? it just means that a short person has to be more aware of where they are stopping and putting their toe on the ground. if valentino rossi was short and had to tiptoe his bike would u say the bike was too big for him? there r plenty of riders who tiptoe who are more skillful at riding than taller people
@oknasob nate robinson is probably the shortest basketball player playing in the NBA right now. would you tell him not to play basketball because hes short even tho he can dunk better than people taller than him? dont put people off from riding a bike just cause theyre short, sure we have a harder time stopping than taller people do but we learn to get around that. even people who can both feet flat on the ground drop their bikes too
@oknasob youre basically saying that since its harder for me to get my feet on the ground and i have a higher probability of dropping my bike when i stop then i should give up
@s0ggyrice I'm not saying you shouldn't ride, I think anyone and everyone should be out there riding if they want to. I just think if you're gonna ride you should do it right. That tip-toe crap doesn't roll with me. If I was in your position I would have lowered the suspension by 1 inch and shaved 2 inches off the seat. You're not right, tip-toeing isn't the proper way to be riding a bike.
@oknasob YOU would have, doesnt mean i have to. that tip-toe crap doesnt roll with YOU. im fine with my ride height. "altering the geometry (ride height) of the bike in any way is going to change things like the location of your center of gravity with respect to your points of contact to the road, rake angle (which will affect steering input), etc. and in turn will affect the bikes maneuverability." and that is why engineers are paid big money to design bikes the way they are.
@s0ggyrice Well then my friend. Maybe you should ask one of those engineers how tall they recommend the rider of a Ducati Monster 696 to be? Since we both know the answer is much taller than 5 feet maybe you should choose a bike that has a different factory ride height, since you feel so strongly that lowering the suspension "tinkers" a bike to no return.
@s0ggyrice Okay food for thought just because you like you're friends Jordans (size 12), doesn't mean wearing them is the best idea. Sure your feet will fit in them, but sooner or later you're gonna trip over them.
@oknasob C'mon man! Don't be that guy and be the rider you say you are, we are our own community, The maker of this video is smart when he rides. He has full gear, he takes car of the bike he owns, and hes only riding a 698, which is not very powerfull at all. Don't discourage him from riding promote him for standing up to you and doing what he wants because that's what riding is all about! Freedom! Ride safe my friends!
@oknasob i dont ride my bike with my feet on the ground. my feet r up 95% of the time and down only when stopped. the proper way to ride a bike is with your feet on the pegs. when youre stopped youre not riding anymore.
@s0ggyrice I don't need to prove it. Time will prove it for me when your short ass slips on a hill. Oh no my auto-correct placed the wrong form of your!... You're never supposed to start a sentence with AND. You're always supposed to capitalize I.
@s0ggyrice There you go starting the sentence AND again. If a tall person drops their bike on a hill I would call them an idiot for letting that happen. If your short ass dropped it on a would also call you an idiot for letting it happen. The difference is you would drop it because you were too idiotic to get a bike that fit you properly, while the tall guy was so idiotic he somehow managed to drop his bike. (Something I've never done)
@oknasob and if you drop your bike on a hill and i dont? what then? short people just have to be more careful so what? short people can still ride. there r short people who can ride way better that you could ever wish to be on bikes they have to tip toe on
@s0ggyrice Oh yea, i will definitely take the MSF class right before i get my bike. But after taking the MSF class was it easy to ride the duc the first time you got on it, for example did you ever stall the bike? I just feel embarrassed if the bike stalls or become all lurchy when im taking off from a stop.
@secretpolice yes i stalled before when i first got the bike. the clutch is different from the bikes they supply at the MSF but youll get used to it. shouldnt be hard. just takes practice
@secretpolice Are you asking a question or a statement...? Even after taking the class riding a ducati isn't easy. The bike is significantly heavier then the ones they use in the class.
@secretpolice I took the MSF course right after I bought the bike. But even after i did I would stall the bike a lot. In my case the Ducati 796 needed a little more initial throttle to get going. It took a couple days of practice after work to get it right.
In case of the brakes... I had abs on mine so I just used the front breaks. Never had a problems using full force in emergency stops.
@s0ggyrice DO you know about the low seat option from Ducati? All of your vids of the bike have you sat on it so I cant see if you're suing one but it does lower the seat by a further 20mm
@dubiumguy i have the lower seat on my ducati. it helped a bit. i can get more of my toes on the ground better and the seat has more grip so u dont slide around on it like the stock seat
i'm 153cm (5'0) i ride a CBR600, good advice about getting on, but when i've had more trouble when coming up to an intersection or other point where u have to put ur foot down, make sure ur paying attention to which side the road is sloping, also, if u can, make use of the curb ;) it took me a few months to get used to pulling up on the bike but i've had it 5 years now and haven't dropped in in over 3 :)
i gotta ask ya did you know you were youtibe famous before you started making videos again, and are you gonna be uploading alot now or just here and there
@TheZachCrooks ya i knew. just here and there when i have time. i just dont really feel like setting up all the cameras and doing all the video editing to combine 3 videos into one. takes up a lot of time
@curuba76 you are 9 inches taller than me. 75cm is 29.5 inch seat height. Its not necessarily different but it is a lot harder for me to pick up the bike off the stand and i cant flat foot either foot. I cant reverse, i have to get off the bike and push it backwards. Its just more of a chore for a short person like me. the road is not far from my house
@HPG45 I dont know if you will be able to flat foot both feet but im sure you would be able to ride one. go sit on one at the dealer and see how comfortable u r on it.
@MercedesF700 I've wanted a bike for a couple years now. I just wanted something faster and more exciting. My height limits the type of bikes I can ride tho :/
Riding is about technique, not size or how tall you are. And there are always two types of riders: those who felt and those who haven't .
