  • 1984 seems like yesterday for me!

  • Of course Wrestling is performance. How many people pay to watch ''real wrestling" like Purdue vs. Iowa state wrestling meet. Pro Wrestling is a great American art form that all patriotic Americans can be proud of.

  • This was the golden age of Wrestling. Nobody was better on the mike than Roddy

  • typical fake, lie`s ect. americans beleave this shit-no wonder obozo is president

  • enfrentou dois homens!! uhuuu adoroooooo ela!!! não me lembro de ter visto uma entrevista com ela tão irritada!!

    very good!!!!

  • dang she was just a baby

  • @rkindle Like her voice sounded! LOL!! But I always thought she made the orange hair look cute!

  • @rkindle She was a little firecracker in the day!

  • OMG!!!!!!!!! I saw this on WOR-TV(channel 9) on an early Sunday morning at 12am while I was in the middle of completing the 7th grade at I.S. 74 in The Bronx. That was when i had just made 13 prior to seeing this on television.

  • lou albino!!!

  • Cyndi Lauper should be in the WWE hall of fame!

  • @gvader I agree she's definitley overlooked ...she was a big part of the WWE/MTV connection that was big part of taking pro wrestling out the arenas and making it hip and young on tv in the early 80's ..she lent her then fame and music to the WWE and put wrestlers like Albano, Piper, Shiek and others in her videos (also her involment in the angles leading up to the first Wrestlemania)

  • CLASSIC!

  • I'm curious about Lou Albano's diet.

  • @rosario508 It's the see-food diet. He sees food; he eats it. This is the diet used most by Americans today.

  • roddy and cindi would had made a cute couple

  • @TheMashwatcher585

They probably were, behind the scenes. This was still during the Kayfabe so everyone was acting.

  • @postalmeter , LOL, maybe so with Cyndi, but Piper's "acting" stopped when it came to Mr. T....he REALLY didn't like Mr. T at all, and T. didn't like Piper, either...it was an awesome time for the WWF, these days were...

  • @craigandjolene

Are you serious? I'd bet that Mr. T deserved it, he seemed like a major asshole, while Piper couldn't have lasted as long as he did if people hated him-- look at David Schultz.

After Roddy knee-dropped Mr. T in the boxing-match at WMII, we never really saw T again in the WWF iirc; that stupid RockyIII/A-Team gimmick wore thin REAL fast. The fact that he ended up wrestling Danny Davis says it all.

  • @postalmeter T. DID deserve it; in fact, he acted like he was too good for wrestling, like HE was the star of the whole show and was very disrespectful to everyone else involved in it....you KNOW Piper if nothing else commanded respect,, he didn't give a shit if you liked him or not, but you didn't get away - and still wouldn't - get away with disrespecting Roddy Piper or his business! T. was never as big a star as T. thought T. was, either !!!

  • @craigandjolene

I wouldn't say that Piper didn't care if people liked him or not, since he turned face after some nut tried to shoot him after the end of WMII.

As for Mr.T, he was always the same stupid crazy ghetto-thug character, whether it was in Rocky 3, A-team, or wrestling... one more lame wrestling-character for the bargain-bin of oblivion.

Once he mixed it with Roddy, nobody took him seriously anymore as tough or dangerous etc.-- one more feather in the Roddy the Legend-Killer's cap.

  • @craigandjolene

Yep, pretty telling that T started in Hollywood and ended up in wrestling, while Piper did the opposite.

This showed that T's career was ending, and Piper's was just taking off.

  • And thus began the storyline that put pro wrestling in the mainstream and MADE the WWF. MTV kept updates on it as it built, then the Hogan/Piper feud spun out of it, leading to the first Wrestlemania.

  • @ebailey140

It was called the "Rock&Wrestling Connection."

  • She really became a star because she was on the Uncle Floyd Show. Boy,that Lou Albano was really a crook. He ripped off Super Fly Snuka and then ripped off Cyndi Lauper too, LOL.

  • Now it is quite clear. Captain Lou Albano brought Cyndi from nothing and made her a Superstar. If it wasn't for him Cyndi would still be nothing. If it wasn't for Lou's one second appearance in the video, it would have been a failure. Cyndi you should have been grateful with the man who made your career. LOL LOL LOL

  • Wow some excellent work by Cyndi lauper considering it's her 1st pro wrestling work. Of course Lou n Piper go without saying, they gon do their part irregardless. This thing went like clockwork. No fumbles, mess ups. All around good work. Totally believable

  • "When RP talks, people listen." You got that right.

  • @TheMashwatcher585

Because he was rowdy before rowdy was cool!

  • cyndi was the BEST guest star in wrestling.

she got involved with the plots. she wanted to do more then just sit there and look "cool" with her shades on like most guest stars do know days...they are not guest stars, they are cameo appearances.

  • tell em how i wrote the lyrics to "time after time".

  • The beginning of Wrestlemania.

  • Pat patterson helped her with her hair?

  • He's raising Greg valentines hand in that picture

  • @mortezof Correction. He is raising Paul Orndorff's hand. But from your anlge I could see if you thought it was Greg Valentine.

  • you know im only 20 years old but piper is by far is the best

  • Any idea who's hand Piper is raising in one his background photos in the Pit?

  • if he says he wrote the song then it must be true

  • I know it's a work, but the crowd cheering implies that they think it's okay for women to hit men. Sexists.

  • I love this Pipers Pit but one thing I always wondered about this was when Dave Wolfe grabbed the mic and it didn't work. Was he supposed to grab it at 4:31?

  • lol "time after time"

  • What was the name of the guy who came on at the end to help Cyndi? He got involved in some of the matches, but I can't remember his name.

  • @bobotoby I think you mean her then-manager David Wolff.

  • wwe wrestling is garbage and has been for decades

  • YOU'RE GARBAGE WWE OR THE OLD WWF WAS AWESOME! SHOW SOME RESPET YOU'RE IGNORANT!

  • Lou Albano is the godfather of facial piercings, back when all they had were rubberbands. =P

  • She is fuckin hot as hell & still is... I love reds!!!

  • This is what started the rock n wrestling era :) More less the boom of wrestling and the WWF in the 80s.

  • hilarious

  • That skirt is so hot! I'd love to do her while she's wearing that skirt!

  • @TakeAShowerStinky Are you talking about roddy piper?

  • @sparklebucket. No, I want to drill Cyndi Lauper.

  • she is so cute

  • oh man a vinyl record, so long ago

  • Wot a legend lou albano never knew him before but i loved this segment. Excellently done Love it!

  • What was up with Captain Lou here? I thought he was a face by this point in time. I kept expecting him to reveal that he was joking and turn against Piper. What gives?

  • Yeah For Like 1 Second , What Are You CRAZY? Haha Classic

  • I'm only 20 years old so this was a little before my time but believe me I know this right here is a HUGE moment in wrestling, this was like the birth of the Rock N Wrestling Connection. If it weren't for the 80's boom of wrestling there would be no WWE for people to see nowdays. I do however believe that the Attitude Era was better, but like I said I'm 20 so that's what I grew up watching. Most importantly though RIP Lou Albano

  • @kidd1023 the WWE has always been garbage. riper was the only thing entertaining about the show during the 80's and mcmhahon stole him from the NWA

  • @kidd1023

It was funny because he showed for ONE SECOND in the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" video, maybe you can google it.

The Attitude Era was wannabe-recycled warmed-over rehashed CRAP with the trash and the hermaphrodytes and legends in their own minds.

  • PIPER'S PIT WAS THE BEST SHOW EVER!

  • My favorite wrestling manager ! He was just as important as Hulk Hogan,Andre,Rowdy, etc. for wrestling in the 80's boom with mainstream public world wide. That era was so special, maybe never will be outshined. A forefather of the Rock -N- Wrestling Connection...Captain Lou is a true legend in his own right. He and Bobby Heenan belong to a higher league as managers. RIP Captain! You are often imitated, and will never be duplicated.

  • @ShakaPR10 Piper might be the greatest heel ever. I don't recall anyone being more hated than he was. The only knock I have on Piper as heel was there was never a payoff for his actions. The fans wanted to see him pinned at Wrestlemania and he refused. He wouldn't job to any top face not even Hogan. Heels have to give the payoff. As a result Piper did little of note ever again as a heel. I don't even think Shawn Michaels was as much of a bitch as Piper when it came to doing the job.

  • @mongoose704 yes indeed. However,Roddy was so great on his heel character that basically the WWF couldn't afford "loosing" Roddy back then in the sense of doing a job.Literally, people cheered for Hogan because they "hated" Pipper.Thats how great Roddy was. Yes,he could have jobbed...but Roddy in those years Roddy had no rival...as the villain he was the MAIN draw.Fans back then took more "seriously" wrestling characters in that sense...today is almost a joke, sad but true.

  • Wow! Cyndi has some attitude! :)

    That was a great promo!

We'll truly miss Captain Lou... RIP.

  • Captain Lou, thank you so much for making wrestling in the 80s great, it does not even come close to being as entertaining as it was back then, RIP Lou

  • This was Pro Wrestling at it's peak! WWF 80's was when Pro Wrestling was at it's best!

  • amen, nowadays I can hardly watch 15 minutes of it anymore, I just enjoy the classic stuff on youtube

  • Thank you, Captain, for all you gave to us. You were the greatest!

  • Just wanted to say RIP Captain...One of the coolest

  • Sorry to hear of Captain Lou Albano's passing. Lou, you were one of the best of all time. You were the guy that we loved to hate. Then you were the guy that we loved. You did so much for pro wrestling. Thank you for the memories. We will never forget you. Be sure to say hello to the others, like The Grand Wizard, Fred Blassie, Gorilla Monsoon, John Studd. You get the idea. Peace out, big guy.

  • RIP

  • RIP capt lou

  • Wooo, Cap'n Lou heel turn!

  • Lou was already a heel. He later reconciled with Cindy Lauper and turned face.

  • @CoryTheRaven He was still a heel at this point. He would do a face turn later that year.

  • Captain Lou is awesome. I was too young to watch wrestling back then, but I watched him in "The Super Mario Brothers" Show. Then I watched him in wrestling when I was older.
