The only failure of the New Deal is that Roosevelt didn't spend enough. This became apparant in the late 30's when most of the New Deal programs ended.

Also the method used for determining unemployment rate was different then. People who were working as part of New Deal programs were counted as unemployed.

Everytime I listen to republicans, I get a headache in my eye.

I can't believe when I was first getting into politics, I used to listen to Lars and Faux News because that's all I thought there was.

"We don't want to turn into Europe with socialized healthcare."

Everyone on that pannel has healthcare, but I'm working as much as 72 hours a week on two jobs, and I get zero benefits. ...and guess what, socialized healthcare is better than nothing for me and the 10's of millions without it.

How can Larson say the New Deal failed? Didn't the New Deal bring down unemployment from 25% to 15% from 1934-1940. 15% unemployment is bad, but it did improve.

So what you are saying is that capitalism is designed to work only for the wealthy which, if you ask me, works just like Marxism since only the politboro and the annointed few reap the rewards of a dacha and american dollars. The term 'robber barons' did not materialize out of thin air. Actually this nation was founded on what you call shared misery. The rule of the pilgrims was if you don't work, you don't eat as they all needed to pull together in order to survive. I am not against capitalism but rather I am against unbridled greed. Anyone or anything that gains a monopoly of power will use that power to the detriment of others. We have 5 day work weeks and 8 hr work days because of unions, not due to the genorisity of the Scrooge-like business owners. Perhaps a fair tax?

i find the political campaign against "greed" interesting, certainly a populist tool. how about the greed of the unions that gave us $130k factory workers and $300k airline pilots and brought honest companies to their knees?
