  • i best know pat thrall from playing with the pat travers band. i saw him with pat back in 1979with ritchie blackmore's rainbow with dio singing.

  • Asia has been and will be a great rock band with awesome music. Watching and listening to carl palmer is just amazing! I feel even to this day he is one of the greatest. He was clearly on top of his game when performing with "ELP" starting with the vinyl "brain salad surgery" what an amazing Lp. The movie Aliens wasnt to far behind! There history go's way back as individuals. Oh yeah, cant forget that MTV helped out!! killer stuff anyway!! (<

  • awesome

    8 eez

    rrock

  • Even now they're still amazing loud. I want them to do some concerts so bad.

  • Asia é uma puta banda, mas infelizmente nunca foi dado o valor merecido.

Ótimas músicas, bons músicos e um estilo bem legal.

  • That is some monster drumming!

  • Love this song!!

  • this guitarist is kinda clean...but damn, he didn't play Howe's arpeggios

  • @led96zeppelin

Who is this guitar player anyhow.. and why was Mr Howe not there. And give some credit to this guitar player, hi´s really good, and all the moves and faces Mr Howe haven´t done in 20 years this guy did it in 5 minutes. But who is he?

  • @Smithfieldis His name is Pat Thrall....and in case you didn't notice, I DID give some credit to this man....just the songs aren't the same without the arpeggios...

  • @led96zeppelin

i notice what your wrote. Nice, and i ment in general what i wrote..

  • nice to see LOTS of folks STILL HAVE CLASS YES this is AWESOME !!!! LIVE THEY ARE AS GOOD AS ANYONE AND I'VE SEEN 'em ALL (almost) George Mason -Seattle wa

  • almost like the orig!

  • that guitarist is bad ass

  • John Wetton

    Carl Palmer

    Greg Lake

    Geoffery Downs

  • What made Asia a super group was NOT all the Pat Thrall wanking. He's a great guitarist. He's just not for this band.

No more than Greg Lake was playing in John's stead. The original four were surely prefab, but it worked like a charm and sold/made millions.

  • Great video!! Thats not Steve Howe you can tell by the style and it doesnt look like him either.

  • I'm sure it's already been discussed, but where the heck is Steve Howe and Carl Palmer? Who are the dudes in their places? :o

  • @TakeYourStinkingPaws That IS Steve Howe and Carl Palmer

  • @sblaze4 ...........that is shocking to me. As a LONG TIME Yes fan and a guy who would bet his butt that he would know both of those guys in the dark, they sure do look different in the video. Don't you agree?

  • @sblaze4 .....I just looked at the video again. Look at 2:24 and then look at 2:29. There is no way that's Steve Howe.

  • @TakeYourStinkingPaws I saw them about 5 yrs ago and they are all still together

  • @sblaze4 .......look at 2:50 and pause it. You will agree with me. That is NOT Steve Howe.

  • @sblaze4 the guy in guitar is pat thral,, he replaced steve howe who is in the original line up again these days

  • I love Asia so much and if it wasn't for Supernatural I might have discovered them much later in life. Some of theirs songs really match Supernatural which is pretty cool :D

    Good old 80's <3

  • 15 PEOPLE HAVE NO TASTE IN MUSIC AT ALL!!!!

  • no Guthrie no party

  • they sound a little bit different but you are going to say me its live

i guess everybody knows sole survivor when they recorded it on studio and we are listening to it on radios mp3 etc.on chorus when he says sole survivor he must hold for 1-2 seconds and then begin again but he says soooooollee suvivooorrrr sooollee suvrivor you must to get me you must listen to the recorded and to this one ;)

  • When I was little, my dad always played these types of songs. And I loved them.:)

  • When I was little, my dad play these songs all the tome

  • can post information about this ? I wanna know, place, date, etc.

    Thanks

  • I always thought this song would have been appropriate to play at the very end of the movie Alien, but with Steve Howe on guitar.

  • Really?TRULEY? And you're calling someone else stupid,Baritone45?

  • i heard this at Kmart yesterday! KMART!! lol.... the girl at the service desk seemed annoyed by it.

  • IT SUCKS

  • thumbs up if you were hoping to hear the bent note in the chorus

  • Favorite Asia SONG!!!

  • When I first listened to this song, I understood it as Soul Survivor and I was thinking what made them hate soul music that much :D

  • 11 people realized they were gay for Asia after watching this song, and in protest refused to give this video a "thumbs up"

  • This song has some meat to it!!! ;^)

  • thats not steve howe

  • wow they sound amazing!

  • @GHgirl620 espically considering how old they are

  • ASIAは最強

  • Funny part of this is IT IS STEVE HOWE!!! All the shit it isnt!! Just Steve Howe with hair!!

  • @MMAFAN66 That is Pat Thrall not Steve Howe

  • nice song

  • super !

  • fags

  • Let's face it, this 80s glam-rock stuff has NO SOUL. It doesn't have the spirit of rock from the 70s. It doesn't have quality music like many 60s & 70s bands. It isn't interesting, new or inspiring like 80s New Wave or Alternative Dance. It is just dull, macho drivel derived from 70s glam-rock, without the life of the previous music. About the best things I can say is it's not stupid like metal and the performers look clean and not all drugged out. Maybe that's part of the problem.

  • @Baritone45 you truley are stupid

  • @p4key43

    I couldn't agree more...

  • @p4key43 I like how you call someone else stupid but you don't know how to spell 'truly'. hahahaha

  • @p4key43 I love how you call someone else stupid yet you don't know how to spell 'truly'. hahah

  • @Baritone45 It isn't interesting, new or inspiring like 80s New Wave or Alternative Dance. interesting please crap is more like it. it's not stupid like metal you mean great and full of talented musicians. not the New Wave or Alternative Dance which isn't

  • Don't recognize the guitarist..........thats not Steve howe, is it???

  • @raljazz Nope- most certainly Pat Thrall. This was 1990, Steve had gone solo.

  • I have loved this song since the first time I heard it.

  • LOVE THIS SONG...

  • Quando tinha rodeio aqui nos usamos o solo de teclado d a musica para a entrada de um colega que era muito especial. MAGNIFICO SOLO

  • great band, great song

  • Asia was derived from Emerson Lake and Palmer & Yes?...WHOAH!

  • Fuck you haters!!!! BURN IN HELL!!!

Asia was the shit then, and still is and will be forever!!!

    GO ASIA!!!!

  • @BoldNewTradition What an inmature opinion and behavior :/

  • @jmmatos23

    Thanks., loser.

  • Last Night: 9/07/10 Aladdin Theater, Portland. My high school auditorium was twice the size of the joint. Steve Howe is better than ever now believe it or not. His acoustic solo was mesmerizing. A truly brilliant guitarist. Unfortunately, they didn't dig me too much as a direct result of my slightly over-zealous enthusiasm. Steve Howe looked right at me and Shushed me. lol :(sorry! and John Wetton murmered 'That's a different band' after I repeatedly screamed-out: "King Crimson! King Crimson!"

  • @USAGlobalVideoCorp sounds like an experience i had when i went to SEE king Crimson. i was annoying as hell yelling at fripp, pointing at him and i could tell he was looking right at me. my brother who was with me tried to calm me down but couldn't and left me. definitly out of charactor for me but i drank a shitload of wine on the way to the show and was blasted by the time i got there. oh well.

  • Remember time when i was young and beatiful. Now im and. Still good memory...

  • This is absolutely horrendous! Guitar player sucks. He could at least make an attempt to play Steve Howes parts which were an integral part of the song. It's like leaving the vocal parts out! I think Wetton and Howe had a falling out and Wetton didn't want the guy playing Howes parts either way, it's too bad because it truly sucks!!

  • o teclado é fantastico...

  • MUITO BOM!!!!

  • They're coming to Phoenix this summer. Saw these guys twice in the 80's.I'm sure they're still great live.

  • I've always loved this song . These guys are amazing musicians . This brings back some great memories!

  • @bizchazlien i SAW THE REUINION.sorry,this is sucktastic,a mere fragremt of what I remember,but i saw,this is piss,speed up

  • @mongabella ???

  • The first side of this album was my favorite. I still listen to it on vynil. Just great!!!!

  • I can always hear a little of the 70s Yes in ASIA and then ASIA sorta creeps into YES later. However it works or doesn't it sure was a fantastic time to live that our kids are only going to REPRISE. Thank you kindly for posting it.

  • mega shit!!!!!!!!

  • this is shit!

  • @Moci18 No, I worked on a dairy farm and I can guarantee what I encountered at work bears no resemblance.

    :-p

  • Who's the aryan superman on guitar? From the facial contortions it looks like Michael Schenker or Malmsteen, definitely not Howe. . .

  • I'm going to see them today, also in holland. Plus I got a great spot to sit, I'm sitting next to them on stage because I'm going to mix for them xD yay for monitor mixing

  • Saw then in St. Louis in '82...awesome musicianship. Why isn't Carl Palmer ever on lists for great rock drummers?

  • @michaelfridayable Because his technical ability surpasses rock drummers to be quite honest.

  • ASIA were in many people's opinion (including mine) a massive musical disappointment in light of the bands the members all hailed from: ELP, King Crimson, Yes , Uriah Heep, et al.. Asia were far too close to the power-pop genre in the likes of Zebra and Saga to have retained the loyalty of the hard-core prog-rock fans. It was good, though, that their sound made new fans.

That being said, I can allow myself to enjoy ASIA's music if I force myself to not think of the groups they all started in.

  • @ablethevoice I swear that though never hindered me one iota.

Drop the needle or push play.

  • I didnt know they were english!!!! Badass

  • One must in old school.

    Doc, TCS-709 Station, France state.

  • Asia is just amazing. A classic american band!

  • @mercurywater10

They are a great band, but they are actually English.

  • @Joosybum nice! I really didnt know they were a english band! thanks :)

  • any idea what year this is? always loved this song and the drums kick major ass.

  • @rowdymax1

!!!!!!!! Of COURSE the drums "kick ass"!! That's CARL PALMER, bro!

  • I wanna sing this but cant find a KARAOKE Version Anywhere unreal...

  • sorry folks, orig lineup is the BEST!

    1yesfan

  • great singer

  • great music,great musician !

  • Ponedorasa para FDA ! :D

  • Bien chevere :D

  • this song has a very unconventional sound i like it!

  • My favorite Asia song !!

    that's there best line up

  • my fav lineup is personally the 1983's tour's one, with lake, howe, palmer and downes

  • @METROPLEX123 and heat of the moment. ;D

  • The subs are so wrong

  • This song is about the Grace of God and being able to survive from this Whore Of Babylon and keep our love and decency...

  • Mikeorz, can you elaborate on this?

  • at 5:01 the drummer from Megadeth steps in

  • mike north,im afraid it is steve howe playing, love his poo face when hes doin the solo too.

  • this is Pat Thrall on guitar

  • Comment removed

  • HEY!!!! Trevisons Steve Howe isn't up there you Dork!! lol

Saw them live this year . . . awesome! A little part of my past.

  • Can these guy play or what!&?

  • very good melody

  • booo, dont like this version. the guitar and vocals are drowning out those synth lines.

  • I couldn't agree more with you, they are butchering Steve Howe's parts ...

  • I love this song!! Rich in lyrics and fantastic melody.

There´s only one mistake..." I was luck, I was alive"... The correct is " I was LUCKY, I was alive" ;)

    Asia forever xD

  • good ending

  • Q; why can the lighting guys ever get it right??? Most of the concert vids on you tube are way too dark. This one the LD is jumping up and down and rolling around on the lighting console LOL.

Not too sure about this "ASIA" lineup. Its cross between asia and some 80's metal band lol i almost like it :P

  • I chuckle when I see the keyboardist because he's from The Buggles. Video Killed the Radio Star..XD

  • No shit!!! Where have you been for te last 20 years?

  • This song is based on Chuck Norris' life!

  • i never thought of it like that, but youre so right. Long Live Chuck Norris!!!!!!!

  • this song is powerful, awesome all around, rise your spirit, thanks for uploading it.

  • saw them teusday in Holland, In fact because I love the drumming of Palmer but Steve Howe was realy great!! I had my 16 year old daughter with me and she was blown away.

  • @juulbrie I just LOVE this band!!! I wish that they would come to the United States!!! I take my 15 year old to 80's bands too!!! What great mom's we are!! He saw Duran at age 5 and age 10...and Squeeze!!! Were going to see Tears for Fears in a few weeks!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY !! Steve Howe .

  • powerful song

  • haha guitar solo is "i'm takign a shit face"

  • Is this song Christian or Anti-Christian? I cant tell. It says "the fire I will defend keep on burning till the end". But then it says "When I saw it I was amazed. One time glory right in my gaze". Ive listened to the record over and over trying to see what the song means.

  • I always took it as NON-Religious but more as a sole survivor of a Nuclear War. Remember this was done during the cold war era!!

  • That makes sense to me. Although I myself dont consider Christian music "religious". Because religion is something different than truth.

  • love it, religion has little to do with christianity and everything to do with legalism, adding to gods word, which in revelations is sin, add nothing to my word, take nothing away from it. religion isnt even a word in the bible is it. I love christian music, i denounce religion, its wrong. it drives people away from the church, instead of encouraging them/ thank god for grace.

  • One thing for sure, as a Christian I love a person who speaks his/her mind and puts it on the table. You are all completetly right on my watch!

    Asia is where it's at!

  • Oh magic jesus, thank you ever so much for your wafers of goodness and your blood wine that nourishes my soul so.

  • @babybluesnowden Actually any proclaimations of religious revelation isn't revelation at all, it has been imagined....... by men.

Reason and logic drive people from church.

  • In fact Asia got another songs with lyrics about the nuclear war and so on...

many 80's had songs that treated about cold war or nuclear menace

  • @Erikk66 Yes, actually it was a fatalistic view of the West's potential use of nukes against it's then Soviet rival. The Soviets used poetic pacifism (usefull fools) in an attempt to disarm potential enemies and, as usual, it failed miserably. Thank goodness. But I still enjoyed the music as a young man, even though I saw through all the bullcrap.

  • Powerfull drumming.Indeed !!

  • You have that right!

  • they're like Yes, just with more of an 80s flair to it

  • Summons the memories of when I was a young buckaroo

  • steve is rockin out, ROCK ON STEVE

  • what is wrong with the crowd?? theyre so unresponsive!

  • I think it's he's singing "solitary fire", but it actually says "solitary fighter" at the bottom. How ironic.

  • This is from one of the best rock albums of the 1980s. Almost every song is STRONG, and continue to stand the test of time.

Usually, "supergroups" don't work, and though Asia didn't last too, too long, and their best work was at the beginning, they definitely left their mark on rock music.

    GREAT group!

  • @blue67ccm they didnt last too long?! what bout their 2010 album "OMEGA"?

  • This song is like half YES, half Genesis.

  • Wetton is a very, very good bassist but come on now, we all know who was the king of the 4 strings...THE OX, John Entwistle !!! I'm glad to see this ASIA posted..I loved this first album when I was in high school in '82 !! Great record...Stil is !

  • Arguably Asia's best song; fantastic to hear always regardless.

  • i love asia, well at least more than the continent, jk, not rlly

  • wow i never knew that the singer played bass that awsome its like rush geedy lee =)

  • his name is john wesson he also played on some yes songs the guitarist is steve howe of yes drummer carl palmer of emerson lake and palmer it was a mix of famos artist like the traveling willburys who had dillon petty orbison harison and guy from band elo dont khow his name hope that was helpful

  • John Wetton

  • that would be jeff lynne, skippy. he was the best musician in that outfit.

  • @mobiusstrip01 that's not Jeff Lynne of ELO its John Wetton the original singer and formerly of King Crimson

  • They have a quite similar look, thats why i was confused... And of course, Steve has more unique sound, but Pat's works very well also....

  • John Wetton..

  • who is the singer? does anyone know his name?

  • Is that Steve Howe on the guitar? Awesome no matter what!!!!!

  • no,it's PAT TRALL

  • Steve Howe plays more interesting parts; more experienced and he was the main guitarist of Asia as well as Yes. When I hear this it sounds like they kind of gave the guitarist very little time to learn the parts. Pat Thrall is a good rock guitarist but when Howe plays we know it is him from his unique style.

  • im goin 2 steve howe concert in montreal..i got 3rd row seats!!!i cant w8

  • i have this dvd... it's great

  • where did u get this dvd ? thanks

  • awesome all around
