  • great vid Ryan Which aircraft and airline you can see behind the DC-3?

The bac 1 -11 is a private operator? Bac 1-11 is only memory for me . I saw a lot British Airways British Caledonian, Tarom (ROMBAC)

  • the first plane didnt pitch up when it landed

  • The UA 757 looks as it took off without flaps set.

  • Nice UA 757!

  • Nice spotting clip! I especially like the B737-200!

  • I wonder what it's like living in Burbank at a time when the 727s and BAC 1-11s where taking off from Burbank Airport. 727s and BAC 1-11s were among the noisiest aircraft around with the BAC 1-11 being the louder of the two.

A BAC 1-11 taking off with its unhushed Rolls Royce Spey engines in full take-off power could wake up the dead for miles around, figuratively speaking. Extremely deafening!! Truly a Stage 1 aircraft.

  • Loved the United livery back then.

  • @james737 agreed--BEST LIVERY EVER!!

  • Wow I guessed BAC 1-11 and I was right

  • nice!

  • the days when flying wasn't so expensive. good times.

  • @alexandermagnific09 you right...

  • wow, a special treat at the end...a DC-3 <3

  • the people who work at area 51 would be the luckiest workers in the world! They get to go in a plane every time they go to work and they get to work in a top secret project

  • This is amazing. The Janet 732 was quite a sight. Thanks for sharing.

  • I wish I was around to see that ex AA Southwest 737

  • I like the former Aeromexico DC8-50 I presume parked over at Burbank Aeronautical for a Hushkit fitting. Funny that DC8s or 707s never used BUR as a destination airport, but were regular visitors for hushkitting.

  • Darn it, I miss those low bypass jet engines. The JT8D P&W engines, the Rolls Royce Spey engines, you name it..

But, of all the commercial planes Burbank or Bob Hope Airport have accommodated over the years , I'd say that the BAC 1-11 was the noisiest upon takeoff, bar none. That plane taking off was like 3-5 MD-82s taking off at the same time. It's that LOUD.

Sadly, most BAC 1-11s were retired from service due to noise restrictions.

Thanks, you NIMBY, weenie Burbank residents!!

  • @NIGHTWHMAN Those Pratt&Whitney engines man i miss hearing them all you hear now is these fan jets! Those older engines literally shake the ground!

  • Man! ALOT of General Aviation...

  • theres a dc-8!♥ at 3:52

  • Burbank Airport seems so quite these days with the majority of airliners haveing high bypass turbofans....A BAC 1-11?! That plane must have made one heck of a racket on takeoff.

  • Excellent. I was wondering if the 737 was flying in and out of area 51? :-)

    frank

  • They always "file" for Tonopah, NV but the pilots seem to always get lost and land at a location where there is absolutely NO airport :)

  • I wonder if that 'Janet' 737 was transporting Lockheed workers between BUR and Area 51.

  • I don't know but he rotated at the 2,000ft marker which leads me to believe he wasn't flying for more than 45 to 60 minutes.

  • @RyanBomar Or if they are coming out of McCarren they typically file for Desert Rock, and they do it all VFR to avoid a paper trail

  • @RainbowManification you can actually fly to Area 51 in FSX--There's a mission that allows you to do that.

  • @compdude100 Ive done it several times, it still creeps me out landing at Area 51

  • @ockteby hats correct and her name is JANET.... Goes to and from SKUNKWORKS (Burbank ) and Las Vegas to "You know Where" ;-) ALSO make note on Title and TAGS because this is NOT Western Airlines as indicated....great vid btw
