  • what's the difference between caution and warning signs? They are both red triangles??

  • All of these signs are pretty.... but you could always just do what I do, and don't drive into anything. There is only ONE cause of ALL accidents on the UK roads, and that's people who drive into things. If no one drove into things, there would be no problem.

  • lol at very bendy road

  • i'm sorry but the national speed limit sign makes NO sense...the US has a national speed limit it is 55mph. Which on highways it is posted, there are large, quite vast zones of 65mph & 70mph zones in which they always post a speed limit sign telling you...that white sign with a diagonal black bar...how does that convey speed limit?

  • @Alprazolam If you know the rules then you obey them. The unrestricted sign is the same in UK as in Australia. I guess it means that they ran out of numbers!

  • @Alprazolam It means the speed limit is unrestricted, and is now the max.

  • @Alprazolam The white sign with the black diagonal line across represents the national speed limit which means anything safe up to 60mph on a road - It's because us English know how to use initiative and simply have common sense (If we see a tight corner, we wont go 60 around it neither need to be told pacifically that 20mph is appropriate - Waste of money to put up sign posts to tell people what they already know).

  • Did anyone else laugh at humped zebra crossing? lol

  • Isn't the speed limit an instruction, not a warning since it is in a circle not triangle?

  • @Deepsmeg no thats only if its a blue background, i think anyway lol

  • @Failsor That is a positive instruction, as in a minimum speed limit: "You MUST drive over 10mph", or "You MUST turn left"

Red circles denote a negative instruction: "You MUST NOT drive over 40mph", "You MUST NOT turn right"

Circles will always provide an instruction. The interesting one being roundabouts:

    Normal: Triangle. Warning! Roundabout ahead!

Mini: Circle. You MUST use this as a roundabout.

  • the theory test is a scam to get money off of you.

if it were a real test they would give you the results so you can improve on what you got wrong (like every other test including the practical).

but they send you away and you will never have learned the answers to the ones you got wrong which is exspensive for you and dangerous.

  • Caution!

  • thanks

  • The "humped zebra" was the best part haha :p

  • Anachronisitic measures aren´t culturally British. They´re the old European ones! The UK hasn´t caught up with the rest of the world, as usual. In fact there are now km signs on motorways in the UK posted at 500 m intervals. There´s a new rule stating twidth & height should be decimal, better late than never. Britain is always the last to catch up with the world, i.e. 200 years later than the rest to adopt the Gregorian calendar, 100 years later than the rest to adopt decimal currency, etc...

  • The guy has annoying voice.

  • wtf the road gets very bendy??

    (means duble bend!!)

  • the fact that most traffic signs are the same in most of europe is due to harmonisation through the 1968 vienna conferance for harmonisation of traffic signs with resulting treaty this was done for the safety of everyone. but you think the rest of the world needs to learn about miles just to suit our tiny country time for a reality check my friend

  • Good point - I just feel I pay too much tax -and this will cost big time.

Whats wrong with keeping a little bit of history and culture ?

We won't be able to drive soon anyway -it will cost too much in fuel.

  • our history and culture wont be effected its just a unit of measure historic road signs can remain showing distace ie the black and white die cast ones on minor and historic routes there is no safety issue with those. bridge height warnings stopping distances and speed limits would need to change to metric for the safety and benefit of everyone there will be no death of our culture

  • Miles -Nautical Miles - Air Miles ....you can not get rid of Miles .

  • in a globalised world where most things are transported into the uk by road if someone has no background of imperial measurements how is eg a foreign lorry driver supposed to interpret a 13'6" height limit on a low bridge? according to sparks who conducted a traffic survey in 2007 there are as many as 150000 foreign vehicles on uk roads at any one time and they dont have mph on the speedometer.we should follow ireland and change over to metric road signs a.s.a.p its crazy to carry on like this!

  • Uk drivers are in the Millions - so why change for just a few ?

USA still has MPH -and The UK highway code has been the model for many Countries.

Let them change - or get educated IF they want to drive on UK roads.

  • the problem is that they are not a few according to sparks 6 million people visit the uk with foreign registered vehicles per year and they dont have mph on the speedometer either get educated when the entire world apart from the united states use kilometres ph i think is a silly point the entire commonwealth has already switched over and ireland changed in 2005 so we are now isolated imperial measures have not been taught in schools here since 1974 so why continue with the muddle?

  • problem is just how far is 200 yards? practically nobody in the uk has been taught imperial measurements in school since 1974 and looking on a world map only the uk and the united states still use mph!this is a crazy situation and im frankly amazed that the government still wont make a move to change to kmh like ireland did in 2005!

  • @Adriano9966 You don't know what 200 yards is, should you be driving at all !!!!

I am 38 years old and I find miles yards and feet very easy to understand.

  • @Frates1 I think your just trolling :-) millions of people all over the world don't use or have understanding of these measures which is the point... something as important as road signage I believe needs to be understood by all drivers from all backgrounds

most people under a certain age don't have much understanding of these units which is why I believe we need to change

  • @Adriano9966 When I go abroad I find out what the local customs are and people should do that here.

I find this type of ignorance is no excuse. Quite frankly if people can't understand what these road signs mean, they should find out, after all it is very easy. Most drivers I know are quite happy with what we have and have been educated under the metric system.

  • @Frates1 easy for who? I think you are looking for an excuse to have a row with someone about anything .I believe if we wish to enforce speed limits that are understood by everyone and avoid accidents such as bridge strikes the signage needs to be understood by everyone(brits included) including poor mere mortals that have no background of these ancient systems..... modernisation=progress :-)thats exactly why Ireland made the switch

  • @Adriano9966 All right you and I will have to agree to disagree !
