As an ex British soldier that certain regiments did have a reputation for not taking prisoners .The Guards regiments most notably. Its no biggie its the whole war that is wrong,look at America's conflict with Japan or the Eastern front where taking prisoners was a real rarity. These things happen in war and are quite different to genocide.
@jollyzz the U.S. TRIED to take Japanese prisoners (unlike the japs who just tortured/raped/killed ppl, pows, etc...and even cannibalized a few!) the USMC tried to take them prisoner, but it was rare you could take them alive and if you did, they would try to use ANYTHING to kill the U.S. guards... they would grab a guard's gun, a sharp stick even a fucking pencil and try to kill the U.S. guards, so unofficial policy after IWO JIMA became to capture them, interrogate them and then shoot them

It happened in the dutch town "woeste hoeve" near amsterdam. a german soldier was selected to take part in a squad for executing dutch resistance members. the german soldier refused and was put between the resistance group and executed himself.

I remember undergoing an attack by the Germans about the last of December at the Northern Shoulder at Elsenborne. Up to this time we got the hell beat out of us. But by now with reinforcements. We stopped the Germans in their tracks. They attacked twice and suffered heavy casualties before retreating. We went out to mop up and take prisoners.. There was a lot of rifle firing but very few prisoners.. Malmedy was very fresh in our minds... I never had any guilt feelings.
Ofcourse, everyone did bad things in the war, but it depends much of the commanders. If an officer (for example german) orders the soldiers to shoot the POWs, there isn't anything much to do or get shot yourself. And noone can actually now who killed the most POWs, german soldiers may have killed more soviets (about the same as americans I think btw). but notice that there wasn't as many german POWs as soviet POWs. In war there isn't good or bad guys only winners and losers.

It happened in the dutch town "woeste hoeve" near amsterdam. a german soldier was selected to take part in a squad for executing dutch resistance members. the german soldier refused and was put between the resistance group and executed himself.

I remember undergoing an attack by the Germans about the last of December at the Northern Shoulder at Elsenborne. Up to this time we got the hell beat out of us. But by now with reinforcements. We stopped the Germans in their tracks. They attacked twice and suffered heavy casualties before retreating. We went out to mop up and take prisoners.. There was a lot of rifle firing but very few prisoners.. Malmedy was very fresh in our minds... I never had any guilt feelings.

Ofcourse, everyone did bad things in the war, but it depends much of the commanders. If an officer (for example german) orders the soldiers to shoot the POWs, there isn't anything much to do or get shot yourself. And noone can actually now who killed the most POWs, german soldiers may have killed more soviets (about the same as americans I think btw). but notice that there wasn't as many german POWs as soviet POWs. In war there isn't good or bad guys only winners and losers.

Under duress, in battle situations, and after heated combat, anyone could make a mistake of judgment. That's different than men sitting around a table, and cooly deciding who they are going to genocide over coffee and cake, like the Nazis did.

The Heer also participated in many attrocities & they are well documented.

Bottom line is the Germans were running Auschwitz and all the other death camps, not America. So I don't weep too hard for Germans who get killed. If anyone has read Mein Kampf, which I have, Hitler's quote "The first task is the elimination of the existing Jewish state" is pretty much a giveaway for his plans.
