I can't remember what the directors said, but it was something along the lines of "We will not make another season featuring the aftermath of Lelouch's death/Lelouch being alive". They made Akito the Exiled, which is set DURING the rebellion. I am unsure if Kiseki no Birthday counts, since it's just random accept-it-or-too-bad that features most of the dead characters. It's an OVA celebrating the anniversary of this series ^_^
@TheWeegeeOfWin Have to agree. Lelouch's death is what set Code Geass so far apart from all the other anime on my list. It was a great show, and how they ended it was a perfect way to tie up all the sub-plots the show had going.
