When you pronounce CH-A-SS-I, do you mean it like KA-IS? Coz I think that you're trying to pronounce the word CASE, but you are pronouncing it wrong, that kinda confused me but by this video I realized it for myself. :)
lol if you want a silent cooler pc just get bigger fans, smaller fans have to spin at higher rpms to provide airflow....... kinda like a 4 cylinder engine lol
excuse me but why do you promote this as a silent pc ? i really need to make a silent supercomputer build to show you what silent means . Have a merry xmas.
This video made me realize that even my older tower computer has place to put the wires on the right side so the air cooling works properly. So even 3-4 years old computers have this. Its there, but somehow this tower has it advertised as new feature.
you should have put artic accelero xtreme on that GPU, its far much cooler than this zalman heatsink+120mm fan solution, not to mention that sound levels are the same or even better.
Same with CPU heatsink, it should rather be a noctua nh-d12, if you can afford a xeon processor, than you can also afford that in my opinion.
Maybe case should could have also been a Fractal Design R3, or an Antec P183.
It would be very rare to find SCSI hard drives anymore.. it is good tech but not really used anymore.. actually I believe those are SATA drives at least they have sata cables.
2. No intelligent person uses a directional mic or any mic to prove something is quiet. You use a decibel meter.
3. He's not trying to prove it's quiet! He's already shown us the components that are going into it, and there all quieter than they're stock counter-parts, if you can afford them.
@freecomptechreview *sigh* Microphones can amplify very quiet sounds. (make them sound very loud) You can control the amplification of the sound by ADJUSTING the mic's gain. Therefore, if he was trying to prove that this computer was quiet, as you seem to believe, he would have simply ADJUSTED the gain until it was barely audible, or completely silent, depending on how gullible he thinks people like you are. :)
Ok, ok silent PC. But, what do you do with the thermal problem inside the case? That air fans not enought to that. The air flow not efficient. How can you cool the HD drives? (4 HDD insid)
my computer is an Asus Mini-desktop and whenever i put in a Cd or dvd when it reads its so loud, and makes so many vibrations my mom thinks it's going to explode O.o
@CrypticGamingNation it's like a well made house it starts from the ground up[. a good structure, in the case of a PC, a good case focus on quiet/ silent, sturdy well made with sound proofing, but you also need a quiet power supply, quiet case fans, and quiet CPU fan. and by combining it with good heatsinks you can achieve quiet, even silent yet high-performance even moderate overclocking is possible.
@yomama771000 I believe this PC was in the 5-7 thousand range easy but we used a Xeon processor a super computer motherboard from ASUS and very special hard drives, everything top notch. This is not always needed, and also since one year these parts have gone down in price drastically with all the new processors, and video cards. So it would be much less now. Look out sometime this week we will be coming out with some new videos on new builds, using dual 580gtx video cards and latest processors
I always thought rubbing your finger in the thermal compound would mix some of the oil on your fingers into it, inhibiting it's ability to cool. I'd like to see some temp. benchmarks to see if it effected it.
Nice video how to quiet down pc, you got my thumbs up! ;-) But If somebody want high performance gaming system (like most people do) I would definitly use 2 graphic cards in SLI mode and survive some noise :-)
Just bought this case and is ok. HD hot swap enclosures are very cheap and will disintegrate in first day only weka point i think. And is not as clean as freactal design r3. May stick to it for some time but i would not shose it again.
that's so crazy how quiet that is. I wish i had one i showed all my friends this video they were shocked how quiet it was . only if i had one, dang i watched all the steps again its so cool.
help me..my powersupply 4-pin connection wire is to short and now my whole power supply unit is loose from its original place..what should i do? buy another PSU?
@Ziakel Delta Fans are solid but LOUD!! The way i accomplish better than stock temps and quiet operation is with a massive heatsink, currently i would go for a Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler or a Thermalright Venomous X CPU Cooler and for a lower profile cooler or downward venting a Noctua NH-C14 Low Profile Ultra Quiet CPU Cooler. Im able to get better than stock temops, moderateoverclocking as well as very quiet operation and to shave off of few extra degrees Arctic Silver or IC Diamond compound.
I purchased some items (the H2 case, quiet fans, rubber gaskets, power supply etc) from your store, followed the video..now my system is as quiet as my netbook laptop! My system is running about 15 degrees cooler at idle, 20 degrees cooler at load, as well. Thanks for a great experience! Nate from Carlsbad, Ca
@NastyNatey Thank you for your kind comments and support. Please feel free to contact us should you require assistance with an order or have a question regarding on a product.
@snk9045 well thats all im going on is a black screen.. i used an HDMI cable on it and it didnt work, then i tried an old cord used for CRT monitors and it didnt work either.. the fan was still running on it though..
@DjViOd It sounds the same, the fans run at a set speed and the power supply will not power up until under-load and then operate at 16 Dba witch is extremely quiet. With the dides pannels on plus they have soundproofing foam. you would be hard pressed to hear noise!
thx for the video. I has been very helpful. I do have some questions. You have a lot on cpu cooling. I read Thermalright should be enough almost by itself and you mounted 2 fans on it? And You have 4 discs very close together without and cooling there? Your computer isnt' loud for sure, I guess it could be called quiet, but its not unnoticable, simply because the sound of airflow 6 fans make. Is it possible to reduce that and still keep the power?
@mijav2 The Thermalright VENOMOUS X CPU Cooler is an excellent cooler. And while it brings clips for a dual fan set up. It is not needed. YOU use the dual fans to get the max performance on a push pull airflow set up. My sugestion is get a lkkow Rpm fan such as a Noctua NF-P12 or Even a Thermalright 1000 RPM Fluid Dynamic bearing fan. It is noiseless and get the job done! We have a wide selection of fan at AcousticPC(DOT)COM However these are some of the quietest.
@lsd2211 Thank you Luciano, Tu de Ben" we love taking good care of our customers abroad and we appricate the business. And yes PayPal i a great option, Glad you like the products. Manny Thanks, Enjoy the Silence!
@farisjoomun The sound proofing Material comes with the Zalman case, however we do sell a higher quality soultion in our online store Acoustic PC CALLED AcoustiPack Ultimate. @robocopilu Thx for tunning in. SSD's since the time we did the video have grown in capacity and better value. but even now we would still use the Seagate SAS drives, due to their great balance of capacity, performance and value. Also you would be surprised as to how quiet these drives are they are def/ nothing like the old SCSI Hard Drives. But dont get me wrong im a huge fan of SSD as well every build is diffrent and so is ever situation. We will be doing a build with ssd in the future.
This was a great tutorial. I actually plan on building my own pc for the first time soon. A lot of the machines they sell in mainstream electronic stores don't seem to be able to handle the demands I expect from a modern computer. I like the idea of being able to pick what actually goes into your machine. I think I'm going to focus more on performance and cooling rather than style and features. Thanks for sharing this.
@alonsoeldemx Thx for your kind words, comments and input. Comments like this these that inspire us to do more videos. I know what you mean. Seagate drives are actually very quiet! but when you get quiet cooling fans, cpu fan and power supply for your system. a new noise emerges and that is the drives, but by using these quiet drives and a soundproofed case this should eliminate most of that noise or all. However we do see hardrive cooling and sound dampening enclosures. Thus totaly silent PC.
@acousticpc Your idea is cool, you use a lot of fans but they only run at 5 volt, so they wont be loud. It is much better to build a own system. So you can take the parts in best quality. If you only need a pc for working, you can build it up in a low consumption. My pc takes only 48 watts. There is only one fan at 5 volt in it (airflow in case). The power supply is passiv, even the cpu and GPU (on board of msi mainboard). HD is vertex 2 SSD. The side has some little holes (airflow).
@Tinalusker We actually build and colabortaed on a review using a Zalman HTPC with a Seasonic fanless PSU. It just depends on what your doing. If you watched this particular 4 part video you will realize it's a high powered work station, for audio and video production, and of course needs more cooling. So again it just depends on the system and needs. Work Sation, Server, Gaming HTPC Home Theater or a high ventilation super ocverclocking machine. our goal is to do it as quiet as possible.
I would recommend the Corsair H70 liquid cooling system for an even quieter system. Probably would only cost 30$ more to do if you're buying non stock CPU Coolers.
@malicios The prob, with the corsair liquid cooler is that it has dual fans on the radiator and they are louder and does not perform as well as our thermalright coolers. on top of that it has the pump and that also has a hum to it and should it ever break. hummm. also it is sealed so no maintanace can be done. and you always have that risk of leakage. but we do sell it and we have plenty of better solutions' for water cooling but again our focus here is performance quiet, silence, reliability
@acousticpc Hmmm I had a feeling that would be the case their. I stand corrected then :) How effective is that CPU cooler on their? I does look pretty good.
@malicios The Thermalright is an awesome cpu cooler, paired up with some quiet fans. Youll have quiet and high perfeomace. There is a newer model we now offer at Acoustic PC called the Thermalright Venomous X
@IchiJewSan If you are really techy you can swap the fan for a quiet one, i can;t advise yu to due the following but this is what i have done before, disable the internal fan and run it with a laptop cooler. it has worked with me but it can be risky. Also taking these notebooks a-part is not fun.
@acousticpc haha i know what you mean. im getting a new cpu chip since its the only thing outta date in my laptop. so im planning on getting a new one and installing it myself. Im okay with kinda of this stuff. So if i take a few precautions ill be fine.
@IchiJewSan little fans like that are hard to find quiet and low Rpm. We have a pretty good selection both in 12v and 5 volt. but i always like to run a cooler reguardless. also i would recomend a good non conductive thermal when you change the chip. Either Noctua or even better Ceramique by Arctic Silver.. also the use of the ArctClean two part cleaner and purifier.
@acousticpc sorry not to sound like an ass but i didnt get half the bottom of the the paragraph. but all i know is i need some thermal glue and possibly have to clean out my fan since alot of dust gets piled up in my house.
@mproductionsmusik We tried Lian Li cases a-long time ago and we had vibration issues, i have not worked with them for along time so perhaps they are better now. However they are really aesthetically pleasing... nice clean lines and clever air flow designs, some times. I do prefer Zalman cases and a few others totaly focus on quite. i like sturdy cases that dont vibrate. looks comes second to me tho i do like the Zalman cases allot looks wise as well.
Wow peter your english has gotten soo much better since Ifirst met you in 6th grade! I am soo impressed by how much you have learned in the short amount of time you have been here. Your a genius bro!
Hi,I have a very loud pc.I mean I don't know where the noise come from but I think it comes from my video card fan.I tried to clean the fan but is still loud.I don't know sure if the noise is coming from the video card fan,but when i stop the fan with my hand the noise disappear. What should I do?
Well done acousticpc! That was a quiet PC. I have the Antec fusion remote MAX htpc in my living room, with the Scythe Big Shuriken CPU cooling fan. You must put your ear down on the chassis to hear it :-)
@gosuRoman The Zalman fans are running at 900 Rpm and the Noctua i belive we ran it at 1300 Rpm's but is is variable and can be run at lower speeds. And the Blue led silenx fans on the cooler run at 1600. All these fans can be adjusted to run at diffrent speeds by using a PC fan controller.
If Microsoft had their way we all would have ~60GHz PC's as loud as 110db vacuum cleaner as a minimum requirement to run their latest version of Windows lol j/k.
I mean shouldn't all PC's be quiet? my Athlon XP makes a lot of noise and it has always bothered me!! Especially when i am recording a youtube video and it sounds like a vacuum cleaner running in the background :S
@smackthat9876 with intel the prob, is those low performance heatsinks and the pwm feature withc i dont like.. rather have a 3 pin fan with a high perfoemance heatsink. Amd as well they provide you with a heatsinbk that will cool just good enough to get you by... it;s kind lkike buying a pc case with free fans and psu... you cant expect the free components to be the best.
@ObserverSUB this is the absolute quitest PSU. to get quiter than this you would need to go to our fan-less unit BRONZE energy efficient certifed. Please check all our PSU's at our online store we have allot of info specs on them there at Acoustic PC online store.
@kickass36 Thank you for your interest, we are a DIY online store but we do local custom built Quiet & SILENT PCs focused on HTPC and Audio & Video production. please contact us at our business email or phone for details. sales@acousticpc(dot).com

Great videos man great videos. Hey i have a question when buying a mother board does the size of the tower matter 'cause i notice there's a mid and full tower cases? thanks.
@ParisNMusic pros and cons, full towers are easier to work with when changing parts etc... mid towers are still pretty big and easy to work with in my opinion and dont take up as much space.
Whether you're a beginner or experienced system builder, this was a very entertaining and very thorough series of videos. Some great information and tips! Great job, going to go ahead and check out AcousticPC now.
thanks a lot man, im going to check out the website, ive been very scared of trying to build my own computer, my friend says its a lot cheaper, and rewarding, this vid has givin me a lil more confidence
@GrimSplinter Thanks for your comments and kind words. This is very gratifying. Good luck on your project you will not be disapointed and you will enjoy it.
@MrGiggdygiggdygoo You can use any socket for a quiet machine and for an audio and video production system there are certain advantages with certain sockets and speeds but you can actually do your production with any of them. We just built this particular build as an example. I7 Cores CPU's also offer allot of performance and value.
you call that QUIET PC ? and you havent think about going watter cooling ? and you really dont need so many fans XD

Hard drive are louder than fans.
The PC is Fan-Tastic. =)
alonsoeldemx 1 year ago
@alonsoeldemx Thx for your kind words, comments and input. Comments like this these that inspire us to do more videos. I know what you mean. Seagate drives are actually very quiet! but when you get quiet cooling fans, cpu fan and power supply for your system. a new noise emerges and that is the drives, but by using these quiet drives and a soundproofed case this should eliminate most of that noise or all. However we do see hardrive cooling and sound dampening enclosures. Thus totaly silent PC.
acousticpc 1 year ago
@acousticpc Your idea is cool, you use a lot of fans but they only run at 5 volt, so they wont be loud. It is much better to build a own system. So you can take the parts in best quality. If you only need a pc for working, you can build it up in a low consumption. My pc takes only 48 watts. There is only one fan at 5 volt in it (airflow in case). The power supply is passiv, even the cpu and GPU (on board of msi mainboard). HD is vertex 2 SSD. The side has some little holes (airflow).
Tinalusker 1 year ago
@Tinalusker We actually build and colabortaed on a review using a Zalman HTPC with a Seasonic fanless PSU. It just depends on what your doing. If you watched this particular 4 part video you will realize it's a high powered work station, for audio and video production, and of course needs more cooling. So again it just depends on the system and needs. Work Sation, Server, Gaming HTPC Home Theater or a high ventilation super ocverclocking machine. our goal is to do it as quiet as possible.

I would recommend the Corsair H70 liquid cooling system for an even quieter system. Probably would only cost 30$ more to do if you're buying non stock CPU Coolers.
malicios 1 year ago
@malicios The prob, with the corsair liquid cooler is that it has dual fans on the radiator and they are louder and does not perform as well as our thermalright coolers. on top of that it has the pump and that also has a hum to it and should it ever break. hummm. also it is sealed so no maintanace can be done. and you always have that risk of leakage. but we do sell it and we have plenty of better solutions' for water cooling but again our focus here is performance quiet, silence, reliability
acousticpc 1 year ago
@acousticpc Hmmm I had a feeling that would be the case their. I stand corrected then :) How effective is that CPU cooler on their? I does look pretty good.
malicios 1 year ago
@malicios The Thermalright is an awesome cpu cooler, paired up with some quiet fans. Youll have quiet and high perfeomace. There is a newer model we now offer at Acoustic PC called the Thermalright Venomous X

Lol my laptop is loud. Fan makes too much noise
IchiJewSan 1 year ago
@IchiJewSan If you are really techy you can swap the fan for a quiet one, i can;t advise yu to due the following but this is what i have done before, disable the internal fan and run it with a laptop cooler. it has worked with me but it can be risky. Also taking these notebooks a-part is not fun.
acousticpc 1 year ago
@acousticpc haha i know what you mean. im getting a new cpu chip since its the only thing outta date in my laptop. so im planning on getting a new one and installing it myself. Im okay with kinda of this stuff. So if i take a few precautions ill be fine.
IchiJewSan 1 year ago
@IchiJewSan little fans like that are hard to find quiet and low Rpm. We have a pretty good selection both in 12v and 5 volt. but i always like to run a cooler reguardless. also i would recomend a good non conductive thermal when you change the chip. Either Noctua or even better Ceramique by Arctic Silver.. also the use of the ArctClean two part cleaner and purifier.
acousticpc 1 year ago
@acousticpc sorry not to sound like an ass but i didnt get half the bottom of the the paragraph. but all i know is i need some thermal glue and possibly have to clean out my fan since alot of dust gets piled up in my house.

nice work! what do think about Lian Li computer case for a quiet PC for Music? thx
mproductionsmusik 1 year ago
@mproductionsmusik We tried Lian Li cases a-long time ago and we had vibration issues, i have not worked with them for along time so perhaps they are better now. However they are really aesthetically pleasing... nice clean lines and clever air flow designs, some times. I do prefer Zalman cases and a few others totaly focus on quite. i like sturdy cases that dont vibrate. looks comes second to me tho i do like the Zalman cases allot looks wise as well.

Nice video. Can you tell the speed of all fans in this pc?
Thanks
gosuRoman 1 year ago
@gosuRoman The Zalman fans are running at 900 Rpm and the Noctua i belive we ran it at 1300 Rpm's but is is variable and can be run at lower speeds. And the Blue led silenx fans on the cooler run at 1600. All these fans can be adjusted to run at diffrent speeds by using a PC fan controller.

Flooceemely 1 year ago
If Microsoft had their way we all would have ~60GHz PC's as loud as 110db vacuum cleaner as a minimum requirement to run their latest version of Windows lol j/k.
I mean shouldn't all PC's be quiet? my Athlon XP makes a lot of noise and it has always bothered me!! Especially when i am recording a youtube video and it sounds like a vacuum cleaner running in the background :S
smackthat9876 1 year ago
@smackthat9876 with intel the prob, is those low performance heatsinks and the pwm feature withc i dont like.. rather have a 3 pin fan with a high perfoemance heatsink. Amd as well they provide you with a heatsinbk that will cool just good enough to get you by... it;s kind lkike buying a pc case with free fans and psu... you cant expect the free components to be the best.
acousticpc 1 year ago
Very nice and pro video! I wish more ppl would use external microphone.
THOOO, i was disappointed about you not listening to the PSU. I am wondering about the AX750 or this Seasonic X750...
Is it quiet enough (even between 300 and 400 W? Ive heard it gets very noisy after 300 W. (witch is like using H.264 video ++ with a good GPU)
ObserverSUB 1 year ago
@ObserverSUB this is the absolute quitest PSU. to get quiter than this you would need to go to our fan-less unit BRONZE energy efficient certifed. Please check all our PSU's at our online store we have allot of info specs on them there at Acoustic PC online store.

@ParisNMusic pros and cons, full towers are easier to work with when changing parts etc... mid towers are still pretty big and easy to work with in my opinion and dont take up as much space.

can you use intel i7 i5 or i3 instead of xeon
MrGiggdygiggdygoo 1 year ago
@MrGiggdygiggdygoo You can use any socket for a quiet machine and for an audio and video production system there are certain advantages with certain sockets and speeds but you can actually do your production with any of them. We just built this particular build as an example. I7 Cores CPU's also offer allot of performance and value.
