@vivavasquez I am getting a red lored amazon, I will be taking her home in two weeks. I am so excited! do you have any tips i should know about red lored amazons?
@CassandraBethMartin congrats on your new family member, socialize your bird to all who live with you, they are jealous and territorial little birds that are fearless when it comes to fighting for what is theirs. they mate for life in the wild. social bonds are very important to them, commit for life, or pass, because each time they are given away their hearts break. some never recover, love love and more love you will not be sorry, these are very special birds, that are endangered in the wild.
@vivavasquez I work at the pet store that I got my Red Lored from and that is why i fell in love with her, I brought her home just over a week ago and since I brought her home she is even better than she was at the store, she is so cuddly and loves spending time with me and my family. She is even good around strangers so I am really happy, I know I made the right choice in adding her to my family. She is only 6 months old right now too
@CassandraBethMartin Wow that is so cool , I used to work at a bird store where I got my first parrot a Red Lored Amazon, she picked me the first morning of her arrival at the store, we had a very special bond that still pulls on my heart strings, she was stolen, I never got over her. she would be about 25 years old now, I got her when she was about six months old too.
@CassandraBethMartin Please feel free to contact me here or on my messages, My first parrot friend was a Red Lored Amazon, He was stolen from me and I never got over it. Our bonds to birds can be as strong as their bond for us. They can live as long as a human. and or more loyal than a dog. They are not "pets" as most think of "pets" they are wild animals that have been imprinted on humans which is different then domesticated. they retain a wild dignity that must be respected.
@CassandraBethMartin imprinted means hand feed by humans from the time of hatching, they think they are human and the processes of figuring out that they are birds is not always an easy. some never do. the thing that is most important to them is there security and home and relationships.
