  • Nice drill!

  • Takes a bit bit to get used to moving ur weight around the ball. I've got pretty good control over my body, but 1st time tried this in my living room, I crashed into the wall. Lol

  • great drill

  • Send this into a BJJ dojo and see if they think you invented it.

  • this is a technique developed and patented by HUMBERTO SILVEIRA from Bahia-Brasil ...HERE IS ONE OF HIS 13 VIDEOS...

RIGHT NOW HE IS IN MIAMI TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS AND WILL BE ABLE TO TEACH AND SHOW CONTATO CONSTANTE FOR THOSE WITH DESIRE TO LEAR THE REAL " CONSTANT CONTACT " YOU CAN FIND HUMBERTO BY HIS FACEBOOK..HUMBERTO CONTATO CONSTANTE SILVEIRA

  • Fun! I like it!

  • I thought this was a bodysurfing drill, I was like wth!

But the title does say "body surf drill"!!!! not judo!!!

  • it is nice to see drills. very nice.

  • Love this video. im definately adding this to my routine

  • Got news for you. You did not create this drill. I was doing this drill on my dads mat when I was 11yrs old. Im 35 now.

  • @bwarrior that is great. Thanks for telling me

  • @bwarrior believe it or not it is possible for 2 people to come up with the same idea in a world of 6 billion people.

  • This reminds me of a type of object manipulation called body juggling. I love it.

  • Solo drills are probably the most overlooked and underestimated training method in BJJ.

  • It teaches you to keep your weight on your opponent while keeping balance. GREAT DRILL!

could i do this with a big yoga ball? or would a smaller one be more useful?

  • @bright5086200 - You should a ball that is same height as your opponent if they were on their back, on their side and in the turtle position.

So nothing more than 55". I seen a another youtube video where the guy was doing drills similar to this. He demo it on basketball which is very hard to do.

  • Wonderful!

  • Great ideas man ^_^ thanks!

  • superb video bro, can you reshoot in even better quality?

    rock on

  • @alittlerock Thanks, I should.

  • I use the exercise ball regularly for grappling practice. I try and focus on keeping my hips connected instead of my chest. You generate more pressure that way ;)

  • very nice I do this alot with my everlast ball,I hope yours doesnt pop..lol

  • Good stuff bro.

    -ManTis

  • its basicly a full hip hiest with a ball

    instead of bare hands

  • Ken Shamrock was doing this drill in 1993.

  • he did NOT invent this drill. this has been around for years.

  • no problem.

  • thanks you for posting. i didn't know aout this

  • @victhebjjpredator I dont believe he said he was the first ever. he said he invented it, which implies creation, a necessarily personal thing. So he, without previous knowledge of this drill existing, discovered it. good for him, or anyone who takes time to play, as it is. the martial arts are, as much as we think otherwise, a very personal thing. Happy training.

  • @victhebjjpredator I love replied. Very diplomatic and thoughtful. I don't know if I was the 1st or not. But I came up with it while waiting for my Judo instructor at the Metro YMCA in Toronto. We sometime have class in the dance studio and that is where they keep the stability ball

  • good balance and core muscle

  • this is a good drill and a great cardio workout. I take my ball in the wellness center at the little D-2 college I go to when my other 2 MMA partners are not there and all the meatheads in the weightroom are like wtf is this guy doing on this beachball but they never wanna spar or roll lol...

  • Thanks

  • Very nice. Interesting drill.

  • Thank you so much for posting, Sir.

Best thing I saw for groundfighting practice when stuck without partner. Inspirational, and good instructions too.

    Cool stuff.

    silk

    :-)

  • great stuff thanx for posting!!!!

  • I do this alot. GReat stuff. I also ad bridging (arching my back so that the back of my head touches the ball and small part of shoulders.

  • Best. video. ever. I fly solo and I'm stoked that this doesn't require a partner. Thank you guy.

  • That's a Frank Shamrock special right thar.

  • dont go to walmart, they are evil

  • I agree, but unfotunely, I live in a small town, and is the only store that we have

  • sorry to burst your bubble, but you didn't invent that, cause we've been doing that exercise for wrestling ever since those balls were invented

  • ok !!

I was not aware of that. As far as I know I came up with it by myself when the stability was laying around when I was waiting for my Judo Instructor

  • Lol, that was a really funny reply for the stability ball "genius" that tried to discount the vid.

  • Comment removed

  • At our wrestling practice we always do these, well at least the first one, we call em spin drills, but we don't use a ball. We just grab a partner and go LoL.

  • Good drill! Thanks, man!

  • Thanks for putting this up Mong; I'm gonna try this.

  • nice drill mate, thanks. i see myself buying a large beach ball in the near future...

  • Don't get something too big, you want to get something small, so that is like someone body height. 55" is good

  • nice drills --but i dont think you invented this--Ive seen these drills on a ball done before in brazil

  • I maybe wrong about inventing it, but I came out with it while waiting for my judo instructor. So if someone else came up with using the stability like this, that is great.

    Mong

  • not to take anything away from ur video

i gotta get me one of these balls

    love the video

  • @zeerebel

I used to mess around like this too! Oh well, its like people saying they "invented" the gogo plata...

  • killer drill, i just started bjj, this is a great helper for learning how to move more fluidly on the ground and how to keep pressure. thanks for posting the vid

  • This is a great drill.

  • hey thanks for this drill video...youre right its great to do by yourself or as a drill before training...and if you need a partner and your in Orange County,Ca call me and i will come on by....thanks again and keep up the good work pal!

  • as a personal trainer i found this very interesting. nice idea. so much we can do with so little equipment..great job i'll try it out myself

  • I found out that working neckbriges with your head on the ball work great for conditioning while being gentle on the joints! But watch out not to loose balance ;o) Try it and tell me if you like it.

    Greetings

  • i haven't tried it yet. I don't think I want to neck bridge is hard aready by itself. To neck bridge on an unstable surface will make it even harder, or much more dangerous. If you can make a video of it and post it, that would be great. That way I have a better feel on how is done.

  • I´ll definitely do that, but it will take some time since I have a torn cruciate ligament at present (not from neckbridging though lol), as soon as that has healed I´ll do a clip and upload it.

  • That was very nice, thank you! We use that in Luta Livre as well, works great mostly for stability and balance. If you wanna see some crazy excercises with the ball, visit luta-livre dot de! Also, push up as well with your feet or your hands on the ball are a great conditioner! Keep up your good work!

  • We do that also in our class, we do the plank, the pike, and push up. Thanks for the website. I will check it out.

  • Great info, thanks for this video.

  • That is a great drill, Thanks a lot

  • Nice, looks like a great way to build core strength also.

  • Have you tried doing planks and push up on the stability ball. They will kick your core strength up the max

  • Thats pretty neat...I use to do that drill with a partner in wrestling, but thats alot better!!!

  • great job. i really like this idea. works very well.

  • Thanks, Make sure you go to my website to subscribe to my newsletter, and youtube channel.

  • Awesome. Thanks!

    Pierre

  • Thanks a lot. This will help me out Im sure. Though, I am a bigger guy. HOpe the ball supports me.

  • you can use a 55" stability ball instead.

I will be posting a drill similiar 2 this on the punching bag in a couple of weeks

  • thanks
