my name's neal and i just started to do drum (covers) videos, if any of you can please just check out my first drum cover it would be really appreciated, i'm just trying to get views and subscriptions. anyone, please?
wtf!!! dude ive been following your dj vids for years...i sold my gear and brought a set of drums NOW ive discovered youve got drum vids too?...can you play the trumpet?
Some heads come with a foam ring which eliminates excess overtones. The advantage here is that the entire internal volume of the drum is available to produce sound. That said, if you don't have one of those heads or a foam dampening ring, a blanket or jacket will do just fine.
I have an 18 x 22 renown bass .. emad and reso with 4 inch porthole .. felt beater and no pillows, blankets ... learn to tune your drums properly its an accoustic instrument so let them ring
hold on hold on...wait!...thats a bass drum...and thats a bass....drum........pedal.....wait wait...no slower this time..... thats two much to process in one go....
It's much better to use two pillows, both on the thin side. Place one long way in the drum. The area of the pillow end you put against the drumhead will dictate how much punch you get. Then place the second pillow across the first. This helps hold the first pillow in place, and absorbs overtones the other pillow can't.
ok so your in a band and you go to a gig with 3-4 million people there your playing the drums with a bed sheet in the drum wonder what the audience would think
@TheMagicmiller1 they would think what a great kick drum sound :P almost every venue and band has a pillow or something in the bass drum to dampen the sound
@TheMagicmiller1 they would think what a great kick drum sound :P almost every venue and band has a pillow or something in the bass drum to dampen the sound
'Slightly better, which is what you want." Dang. I was making it ALOT better. -.- if only I would've known to only make it sound a LITTLE better. . . :P
@wgnwhite Mine's loose too. Some guys like there's tight like you're hitting a table with the resonant head (front) loose. All depends on your game I guess.
@libssukk well if you really want to "game" the drum even cheap drum if given expensive skin will sound nice. Beside each brand name have their own strong point. Just mix and match. My band conf is Yamaha skin with cheap Tama body and some paper brass Zildjian cymbals.
But I like open, melodic, lively drums :( ... not dull thud dumpy. A thud with some hair-parting resonance... the kind that makes air shoot up out of the beer bottles sitting onstage :D
i dont use blankets at all. use some muffle rings or that foam weather tape( you can get it at any hardware store) . make a ring around the outer edge, ur drum will resonate better, and it is a lot easier to control how much muffling you need based on preference. also, if you move your set around, it always stays in one place. this goes for all drums
TUNE THE BATTER HEAD AS LITTLE TENTION AS POSSIBLE THEN TUNE THE OTHER ONE LIKE MEDIUM-HIGH THEN CUT A 4-6 INCH HOLE IN THE FRONT AND PUT A PILLOW IN IT.. BEST SOUND AND GREAT FOR RECORDING
@thatguywththedreads he does have both heads on and even if the front head was off it wouldent change the sound trust me i use to have my front head off well i guess it does change the sound alittle but not much and its also not tuned right so thats also why it sound kinda bad
@candylandFreak1914 yeah I don't think people understand that he shoved the blanket through the hole in the front that is used for recording the bass drum
never put strong adhesive tape like tuck tape on your drums. if you leave it on long enough it can leave a resedue on ur drum and if you have a coated drum it will take the coating off. if you want to externley muffal your drums use moongel or O rings. there is also spesial tape that you can use for muffeling, which is not what he used apparentley
for a drummer watching this video, possibly one of the most redundant and basic tips a person could ever give. my 8-year old has better bass sound than that.
dont put anything in your bass drums or any drums, get better heads and tune properly to get a night bright fat tone, dont liston to these people that ruin your drums with stuffnig crap in them,
how bout start off with NEW drum heads properly tuned... I dont believe in dampening.. all this does is kill the harmonics of the drum and the head.. all this is is a weak pathetic shortcut to proper drum tuning
All you need is a tuned drum head on the side of the pedal and one single bed's thick blanket and a fluffy pillow tune the other just to start to feel tension and there you go... My Dixon drum bass kan be compared with a decent pearl drum bass :D.. Try it...
You CAN tune a bass drum without muffling. All you need is a decent kick head and some common sense with tuning. It's the room your jamming in that will make the difference.
i have ludwig drums and i have nothing in the bass drum and it doesnt echo out the sound at all. people dont by a piece of shit drum set and it wont sound like a piece of shit.....please dont put your furniture in your drums. apply yourself to playing good music and save up for a pearl or ludwig drum.. i recommend ludwig, john bonham sound is awsome!!
