  • @Kaaxe It also says we cant eat lobster. These are why I am not Cathlic/Christian

  • i think most people dislike homosexuals not because they ARE, but because of the way they behave. i mean, gayparades, crazy piercings, changing their voices, cross-dressing and trannys...wtf? and they all like, "I am gay and i love it" wich is gay, (get the joke?) heterosexuals are not all like "hey guys, get what? im heterosexual" ...it's... scary (literally) me and my friends had a discussion on this, and this was our conclusion. (together with a homosexual btw, he reluctantly agreed)

  • But doesn't it actually say that homosexuality is wrong? Isn't the bible full of these kind of things that we today do not accept? Isn't the whole of Christianity based on that book?

  • Go metrosexuals!

  • As a Christian, I can firmly say that "God hating homosexuals" is complete bullcrap. God does NOT hate homosexuals. Also, I don't care what I believe or what you do in relation to what I believe, NOBODY has the right to bully someone because of homosexuality.

On behalf of all the REAL Christians (the ones who actually know Jesus) I'd like to apologize to anybody who's been persecuted by a so-called Christian because of their sexual orientation. That is NOT what we stand for. Not at all. >:(

  • @thatwhichisgiven I completely agree. Well stated.

  • @geraldineflump That would be incredible. I would sign up immediately!

  • I'm a 17 year old straight male who loves stuffed animals and whose best friends are all female. My life would be a LOT simpler if these social cues didn't exist.

  • This video was amazing. Kudos Hank.

  • (con. from below) I decided that I would join a website for GSM people. I have decided on my sexuality. I think I an come out to my teachers, my friends, Nerdfighteria. The whole internet for Green's sake. But not my mother. Maybe it's because I love her, or because I fear her. I think, why is it so hard for homo/bisexuals, there's no confusion. Yet I realise, my only confusion is who to come out to.

  • @RaincloudPlay I don't know who you should come out to, but I know you should be true to yourself and be strong even if people tell you it's wrong. Even if it's your mom who says so. You are who you are, so live your life, my young friend. You'll be a-okay. Nerdfightaria will be here for you if need be. :D

  • @RaincloudPlay

When you're ready, come out to someone you trust. Find allies in your school (cards that say 'Ally' are a good indicator) or a good friend, or an open minded family member. I also try to make it clear to people, if you don't know how your parents will react if you decide to tell them, have a safe house to go to, just in case.

  • I am 13. It's the stereotypes that make it hard for me to come out. Adolescents are just look for attention, or going through a phase. I knew when I was about 6 or 7. 'HSM' was released and I had a massive crush on Tisdale until I was about 10. (I have learnt now that High School music is pure shit) When I was 9 or 10 I had a rush on a teacher and sort of came out in my childish way. My mother told me I was wrong. I never thought about it. When I was nearing my 13th birthday (cont. above)

  • You just got attractive.

  • I love how u compared sexuality to the double-slit experiment XD as a lesbian nerdfigher, i found this AWESOME

  • @mymountain1019 I think there should be a dating website for lesbian/bisexual nerd-fighters who like particle physics. It's pretty specific but there must be more of us out there!

  • you don't know how bad i wish that some guys would just accept that their effeminate like you just did.

  • Is is it wave? Is it a particle? It's a wavicle

  • haha love it.

by the way, that shirt is awesome!

    dftba!

  • Wow. Talk about cuckholding.

  • What if you're a racist axe-wielding serial killer... but not a bed bug?

  • Jayne!

  • So, what you're saying, is that electrons go both ways? ;)

  • AH! we watched that video in chem class!

  • That joke was just... incredible. Really. I should write it down somewhere.

  • I had to watch the quantum video you linked to get the joke. :p

  • I just think we should date who we date and not worry so much. I mean, I am obviously not against gay pride, because overcoming adversity and raising awareness is important. I just mean that it shouldn't be such a big deal for us which gender we like. We should just concentrate more on which PEOPLE we like, and spend time with those persons whom we like.

  • You broke the rules its over 4 mins

  • A literally just finished watching "What the Bleep do We Know" before I watched this video, and I clicked on the link only to find that it was a clip from the movie

  • this is why I love you....You are SO much more smarter than i am...lol i think being smart is sexy..and like umm yeah i think you are supper sexy..the molestache has to go tho. lol thank you guys for stimulating minds! that is a great gift!

  • Hahahahah, I am bisexual, And I Apply to all of those social cues. LOL. It appears me and you have something in common hank....

  • it takes a true man to be able to call yourself effeminate. i dont know many who would be able to.

  • Hallelujah for slightly effeminate straight men! I only wish that there were more of you, and that more of you were more confident in yourselves. I am a straight girl who is NOT impressed when guys try to hard to be macho. It's annoying and unattractive. Give me a man I can relate to!

  • @longhairgreeneyes totttally agree with ya girl

  • @longhairgreeneyes So these type of girls do exist!

  • I have a lisp. Theatre is my passion. I especially love singing. I love a cappella music. I hang out with mostly girls, but I never have a girlfriend. I'm not very good at sports. I don't do lots of typical "man" things. I was a Boy Scout throughout my entire childhood. My first ever concert was N*Sync. I drive a Prius.

Oh, did I mention I'm straight?

Yeah, this video definitely spoke to me. Thank you for speaking out about this.

  • Your...your analogies...*fliggles*

    I am impressed.

You are one of the only people who makes me not hate science XD

  • Unless you are a bedbug LOL

    Yes. Just yes.

Though, seriously here, I completely agree. Whether you're straight, pansexual, bi, it's yours to discover and only yours to know the truth of. Long live nerdfighteria!

  • Explanation of pansexual from a pansexual: I don't understand really any sort of preference. Like, at all. Certain people are attractive. Okay. Guy, girl. Effeminate, masculine. Orange. Purple. ...Well, not orange. Just not my type. Because I'm allowed to have a type too.

  • Personally, I find it more attractive when guys are "effeminate."

  • I love you, Hank, for comparing sexuality to quantum mechanics. So so so soooo awesome.

  • Hey Hank, I have no idea if you'll see this/respond to it/I'm not quite sure, but I felt it needed a third slash. (Also, catching up on 2 months of VB so I feel a bit late to the party but whatevs.) I just wanted to say thanks for even considering to bother mentioning coming out day. I remember being in high school and trying SO HARD to organize awareness and workshops and such about coming out day. I also vividly remember spending 4 periods of school sitting in an empty classroom with my GSA

  • @xxpunkrocker09xx (additional info I don't use the Youtubes much) advisory waiting and hoping that someone would walk through the door for my workshop. They didn't, but now I visit the school and things are changing and you mentioned it to all the Nerdfighters and wow. I remember coming out in stages and then finally figuring out that sexual identity is not gender identity and now that I know who I am (I'm Aiden, from New Jersey!) it is so awesome and I can worry about other stuff now. Anyway TY

  • Hi. youre a legend. Thats all :D

  • less guyish kind of guy = nerd sexy!

  • Actually a Kinsey two is usually defined as bisexual (unless you're one of those people who think to be bisexual you have to be attracted to both sexes equally, in which case you would be WRONG). Wikipedia isn't quite right, as they changed it from the Kinsey Institutes actual scale, which never actually uses the term bisexual. It's also kind of weird that you talk about the Kinsey scale then for the rest of the video go on to define sexuality in terms of straight OR gay. Doesn't work that way.

  • @Floatout2sea Hi! This topic is really frustrating for me a bi person. I recently watched Dan Savages take on this saying something along the lines of 'You are still gay or straight if you are only a little bit attracted to the other/same sex'. What's wrong with just saying, "yeah, i'm bi"? He also says he doesn't believe people when they say they are bi because so many use it as a status symbol. *facepalm*

  • @maarakailet1 Couldn't agree more. I identify as queer because I have yet to find another label I feel comfortable with but I am definitely neither straight nor gay. I am sick of hearing "you're either straight or you're gay." NO, you might be in between. And that doesn't mean your attractions is split 50/50. As for Dan Savage, It Gets Better is great, but he is still a massive bi-hating cissexist douche rocket.

  • @Floatout2sea Grr, I still have friends that think I'm really just straight/lesbian. No really... you are, deep down.

What is cissexist? My O.Chem brain keeps seeing carbon boats.

  • @maarakailet1 Cissexist is a term meaning prejudice towards trans people (I don't like the term transphobic, it's ableist because it's not fair to compare people with ACTUAL phobias to hateful douchebags). It comes from the terms cisgender (meaning someone whose gender matches their assigned sex, i.e. someone who is not transgender) and sexist.

  • @Floatout2sea

Bisexual doesn't only mean 50/50 it can also mean 20/80 or 60/40 etc.

  • @DogsneedpIeasuretoo Yes, I know. I said that if you'll see my original comment.

  • @Floatout2sea

Awww sorry if I miss it XD

Too many comments, just ignore my comment then ;)

  • I always wondered if I was gay, because I went to an all-girls' school, didn't really like any boys that I knew, and wasn't attracted to any guys I saw just passing or something, plus all my really close relationships were with girls. Turns out I was just a late bloomer when it came to finding people physically attractive *shrugs*

  • I came out that week. Worst day ever. My friend told me that it was ironic that I came out on Coming out Week.

  • Wave particle duality, bed bugs and coming out... Three topics that I never imagined being in the same video, and yet it makes sense.

  • hank, thank you

  • WHAT ARE MILLIPEDES LIKE?!?

  • @MrJamesonTV "... 10 times better than centipedes." According to the endscreen it's a threadless shirt. =)

  • @g2theIrishPianist whoops guess i should've been more patient..the last few seconds of the video DOOO count hahaha but thank you :)

  • @MrJamesonTV Haha, no worries. Have a good day! ^^

  • When people question their sexual orientation, they always seem to forget that Bisexual and Asexual are also possibilities.

  • @drwhoeffect Pansexual as well, and then you have all the subcategories. Hetero-, homo-, bi-, pan- romatic hetero-, homo-, bi-, pan-, a- sexual. Which looks like, for instance, my technical sexuality is panromantic homosexual. But I just say I'm lesbian because it's easier :P I think the main issue is they think it needs a label, but it doesn't, the only benefits of that is communicating to others what you're looking for. But really, sexuality is so much more complex than labels can describe.

  • @Commacine Distinguishing pansexual from bisexual has always seemed like splitting hairs to me. (Although "pansexual" is probably the more technically accurate of the two terms -- acknowledging people who are intersex, genderqueer and all that -- I call myself "bisexual" because more people know what that means.)

  • @drwhoeffect *And pansexual. No one seems to know what that is :(

  • @milkyway531

A pansexual is a bisexuals that doesn't discriminate.

There are also pansexuals who are homosexuals or heterosexuals.

Some homosexuals will discriminate (not like) homosexuals who are too effeminate or too masculine) while a pansexual homosexual doen't care if the other homosexuals is effeminate or not.

  • @DogsneedpIeasuretoo Actaully, another word for pansexuals would be 'gender blind' I don't care whether someone is a girl or boy or genderless or transgender or whatever

  • @milkyway531

    I agree :)

  • @DogsneedpIeasuretoo Actually, pansexual can be defined in a wide range of areas and has a very wide scale. Some don't see between gender, some are more attracted to personality, but generally the main quality of pansexuality is the fact they accept anyone, whether they're male, female, transexual, or anything in between. Pansexuals can however, in fact, be attracted to the physical, so long as they're widely accepting to all, and rather typically, more over attracted to personality.

  • @Trevvbox

    I agree :)

But is easier to say that they don't discriminate anyone, when it comes to relationships or even sex. :)

  • Wow. Sperm spike

  • Thanks a lot Hank, now I'm going to be thinking about that video and quantum mechanics for the next month!

  • I would say to name it "Ogg". *nod*

  • What is that John Waters quote? "If you go home with somebody, and they don't have any books, don't fuck 'em"? Does that also work in reverse? Because with the number of books behind you-...

  • Thank you Hank for telling your story. There was a boy at my school who was recently beaten up for being gay. The student body, to protest homophobia and prejudice against people who are LGBTQ, are having a sit-in all day friday. Over 600 people are attending, including people from other schools. Local radio, news stations, and newspapers are covering the event. We want to make this a national anti-prejudice movement. Please like this comment so others can see and tweet your support to #teamcole

  • thanks i enjoyed the video

  • I totally wish Hank was wave...

  • As a gay who does NOT have any of these social cues I find this very endeering

but as a bed bug I find this offensive!

  • I now have "who am I? 24601!" in my head. Just that part of the song. I blame listening to the whole of Les Mis earlier today, and also my friend Hannah who sings it whenever someone says "who am I?"

  • Thank you so much for this video.

  • And is you're 1 or 2 one the scale....you're bi?

  • @milkyway531

    3 is bi, wiki/google: Kinsey's scale

  • @twoplusoneisthree 1- Predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual

2- Predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual

    idk

  • I hope you don't still think those stereotypes are true o_O

  • at gay straight alliance we talked about how funny national coming out day was, we wanted to know if anyone actually came out on that day.

  • You should name the zit... hmm.... uummmm.... errrr..... Vesuvius haha xxxxxx

  • who am I??? @_@

  • Kinsey scale 1 / 2. Bi (sort of)- like me! Yes- I now share something in common with Hank Green! :) Go. Hank.

  • october twelth was my birthday

  • Baothazar the Zit

  • Wait this video is over 4 minutes. Where is your punishment Hank?

  • The video is listed as 4:01, but it changes to 4 min. Are you cheating, Hank?

  • ive already heard about the bedbugs...dont ask where

  • 0:48 through 0:50 :D

  • Basically, Hank, you're amazing.

  • Just to point out something totally irrevlevent -- he pushed his glasses up exactly 14 times in 4 minutes..lol.. Please don't ask why i counted because I really could not tell you.

By the way - Great shirt :)

  • Paul.

  • My (awesome) physics teacher in high school totally showed us that video. Also your shirt is awesome. I said awesome three times in this comment. #success

  • I hope you don't mind, but that last bit of wisdom, "be honest with yourself, even if you're not quite sure who you are." is being borrowed for my novel during NaNoWriMo. I just wanted to let you know, because it actually plays an important role, and I'd like to thank you for that.

  • You should name this zit "pustulio"

  • THANK YOU for mentioning the Kinsey scale! It was really helpful to me in figuring out who I am.

  • OH MY GOD. We watched that exact video in Chemistry. Last week. Mind blown.

  • I'm bi. :3

  • You should name it Julio.

  • Your a feminit? What is this? I thunk I'm one...

  • @MrJero85 Effeminate* it means you're feminine. (If you're not trolling).

  • i love you.

  • You just made it into my top ten list of Favorite People I Don't Know and Wish I Did.

  • my house has no reception [double brick and double glazing] so i was sitting outside trying to watch the last minute or so, and by jove i am well and truly sunburnt now. and you know what? its worth it. ♥

  • I love you Hank. As a brother man.

  • Terry Pratchett on the shelves <3

  • Guys who hang out with girls aren't always gay, but they are always awesome.

  • Was "willy-nilly stabbing each other with their penis'" a really, really great accident or a really, really great pun?

  • Dude, you rock!

  • GLASS TAP COUNT...19

  • I must admit, I was like you hank, I was honestly scared I might be gay, then I realized that hey, I was always trying to get closer to females, always liked them, then it took me much longer to realize that even if I had been gay, why the hell does it matter anyway?

  • Thanks for putting in the note at the end about what your shirt says--i was incredibly curious!

Thanks also for sharing great stuff about your sexuality and where you are on the gender spectrum. Hurrah for a heterosexually married guy who says freely that he's somewhat effeminate (while growing a goatee)!

  • I smell my bacon burning, but the title of this video... I HAVE TO WATCH IT.

  • you go girl hank

  • my mind was blown. THAT WAS FRIKKEN CRAZY.

  • I suggest Zen. Then you can curse Zen the Zit.

  • if you don't want to be different then ditch the goatee. just sayin :L

  • holy shit!!! Just because you don't lift weights and are testosterone driven doesn't make you sort of a less guyish kinf of guy. Gosh. I didn't know there was a standard on this...

  • I have recently named one my zits Claude, if that helps.

Oh and thank you for the great video. :)

  • wow totally thought 4 a sec there "OMG HE'S GAY?!? DO U KNO HOW MUCH OF AN EMOTIONAL EFFECT THIS WOULD HAV ON CERTAIN PEOPLE?!SPECIFICALLY CERTAIN GIRLS?!" jus sayin

  • Men that are in touch with their feminine side are sexy!

The video you told us to watch was something I already knew and I was a bit disappointed that it didn't explain why and how it happened, just that it happened.

  • Couldn't agree more!

  • sometimes i wonder if i learn too much from hank and john. lol ;)

  • omg hank i'm learning about gender roles in school right now.

i got a little too excited.

    hee.

  • Thumbs up if you're proud to be an electron.

  • Tom The Zit perhaps?

  • Hank, you rock.

  • Where were you and John born? I was born in Bozeman and still live here. You could name the zit Bozeman. Actually the facial hair is more noticeable than the zit.

  • I have to admit, I have been dying for you or John to eventually discuss how sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation are all separate things and/or how they vary. So! With that said, this is just awesome. This is exactly why gender expectations and gay stereotypes are so damaging and frustrating. I was the opposite (a very feminine and "girly" Kinsey 5/6 lesbian), and it was just as confusing. (Also, the mental image of little Hank ice skating to The Village People? So cute, I can't even..)

  • My mind so blown. The only thing I can't understand is which slit it was blown through. :\

Also! Science videos are phenomenal! Yes, very good indeed!

  • Comment removed

  • thanks for answering my question before i typed it:P

  • WHAT?! WHAT ARE MILLIPEDES LIKE?!

  • This isn't being flirty with you, Hank, this is a message for all of the guys watching this-

I happen to find effeminate guys more attracted and interesting than macho men. I'm dead serious- I started falling for a guy because his favorite book was Dear John, and he listened to Krystal Meyers. So to all the guys who think they are too effeminite to be attractive, that's bull. There are many girls who think that's really hot.

(and why else is there fangirls for bishounen?)

  • wave, particle ... boring!

  • Fernando....then you can sing ABBA to it...well thats what i did anyway

  • Name the zit Isambard. :]

And I am also a 2 on the Kinsey scale, and I didn't figure it out until I was 20. Woot.

    @PoeticPoppa ilu, you're a nerdfighter too??

  • I love you so much more right now. Please father my gaybies (gay babies) :-) if at first you don't succeed try and try again. No but seriously, you're awesome

  • Name it Cornwallis! ;D

  • I'm a 2 on the Kinsey Scale!

I have lots more to say about that, but it definitely won't fit into a comment with a 500 character limit...

  • oh hank, i agree. with you, im just like you LOL

  • I have a question for you Hank, there was a period in your life that you called yourself a goth, and most people do that as a part of their journey to self discovery. Was the confusion of your sexuality part or most of the reason you did that? You do not have to give me details if you are uncomfortable.

  • Captain Alphonso the zit

  • Thank you for being so honest and open, Hank. You're an influential person to all your fans, and something as simple as saying what you did decreased the levels of world suck by a whole bunch. Keep it up!

  • Oh my god. That link blew my mind. What has my life been up until this point?

  • We have a black history month and a homesexual/bisexual month but up until today I didn't know that we had a women's history month. This upsets me that I've never been told about this. We don't even do anything to mark the occasion. Seriously, what is with this?

  • Please start making videos in Spanish.

  • millipedes are like 10 times better than centipedes :)

  • You are awesome. And who's John?

  • I really do love the Greens. John and Hank, you are both wonderful human beings.

  • FUN GAME!

count how many times Hank pushes up his glasses in a video.

  • @TheLPDS I got about 17.

  • it takes BALLS to talk about your feminine side in a vlog!

  • Thanks

  • When I opened this video the first screenshot of Hank stuck to my screen. Now wherever I look all I see Mr. Green getting in the way of everything. I AM NOT AMUSED.

  • "Unless you are a bedbug. In that case JUST STOP."

  • LOOK AT THE CAMERA DANGIT.

  • @pumpkin091 It's not exactly easy to talk about your sexuality without getting at least a bit awkward, especially when you know thousands of people are watching you.

  • I like ice skating... not so sure about the villiage people though. But then again I am a girl. But then again I'm sort of a... ma
