If you should cut anything it would be the fucking beats. that's the worst wounding shit I've ever heard...not yours personally, just everyone's impression in general that beats are interesting. They aren't.
You seem like a nice guy, but this fucking beat house techno crap is SOOO overdone....I mean every fucking person and their little pieces of shit after a big dry hunka cheese is making something with beats that are too overpronounced. I mean you don't need a tool like ableton to make that. In fact, it's like battle of the chefs making roasted marshmallows.
holaaa!
hmm i want to start with ableton live for a time now, but i really need a good (extreme) beginner tutorial. But all i found isn't what gives me the impression i needed to see thats its flexible enough. This simple movie actually kind-of convinced me to leave reason. What do you think about the diffrence between reason and ableton live? PM or respond here if you can please!
you should use ableton as your main DAW and still use reason as a plug in. there is no need to totally ditch reason if you have taken the time to figure it out.
Great short 4 ideas on Home VST use & technique. I have questions on your HW used to loop/record/mix the sounds & I've got 2 C more of your videos but- another time gotta go now. Great Stuff! I'll be back! :-)
You can play anything you want with a MIDI keyboard... as long as you have a computer and a MIDI Sequencer like Ableton, Pro Tools, Reason, Cubase and such.
I think we all have a problem setting up the trigger finger. All youtube has is ppl playin the damn thing but no tutorials on how to load it. Please make a small vid on how to load it. TY
@djomarsuperstar You basically use Midi Cables from the instrument. You buy a mixer or an Audio Interface for the connection from a Midi cable to a USB cable, which then connects to your computer. Then from the computer, you would go to sound options and select the instruments.
to draw out a sequence you select the pencil tool by the transport. then you click on one of smaller rectangles under the track name. so if you have a impulse insturment track. u click on one of the squares to make a new scene and you can draw in notes for that scene
Does this mean the computer software is making the different instruments? I mean, is he even using the built in instruments of the keyboard? With my cheap keyboard, it can't be hooked up to a computer, and you press the numbers to change instruments. If it's all done by software, then do I need those built in effects? Am all I'm looking for is midi capable or something?
I wasn't telling you what samples were. I replied to 777jeru. Anyway, you've totally missed the point. I was stating that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense putting down midi music making in favour of producing music using samples (as he claims to do on his channel). I was explaining what samples were in an attempt to make this point without having to literally spell it out like I'm having to do with you.
hi tactical16. to convert, go into the arrange window and (assuming you have arranged your piece in this window) select all from beginning to end.
in the file menu there select "export audio/video". this will render your track to wav or aiff (as you choose)... following which, you can convert to mp3 on itunes (?) or download a conversion program. i found one called Switch which seems to do the trick.
As far as i know you can't convert to mp3 within ableton. hope this helps
hey great video man, i got a few questions, im getting a trigger finger soon i cant wait im a guitarist and i wanna do some simple beats thats what im gonna use the tf for and some synth.
1. Did you make that beat with ur trigger finger
2.I have abletone live 7 and i realy have trouble finding out how to loop tracks like ur doing here
If yo´re having a trigger finger you can do a lot more complex stuff than this!In Live 7 simply open the drum rack instrument in a midi track and hit cmd/ctrl M and map you´re way trough man!About the loops,by standart ableton opens up clips in loop mode just hit the play button and if they dont do loops hit the loop bar on the left of the sample controls
you need either a semi-proffesional soundcard with ASIO abilities, or even better an external audio interface which will give you more possibilites, or install ASIO4ALL
Yeah, I just learned the ins and outs about ASIO. I have Focusrite Saffire box and wasn't using it at the moment and was wondering how he got his latency so low if he was just hooking up to strait to the onboard device. ASIO4ALL. Amazing thing it is.
most ableton tutorials i've seen build a single section by layering parts. how would i build a 'B' section to a song without stopping the recording session? a demo would be great.
Like somesone said earlier, I recently got Ableton with my keyrig 49 and lexicon alpha interface thing cos I really want to get into recording but did not know what it all meant. So thank you very much for this vid, a great help.
I just got the M-audio KeyRig 25. I have vista and my keyrig software is not compatible with vista. Do i need the keyrig software? or can i just configure abletons midi sounds to my keys, knobs, and buttons without it? I also have a Korg N1 synth, it also as a midi out. Could i use that? Im mainly interested in using it for drums. I rarely make beats and use ableton for recording my jam sessions or accoustic stuff. If you could help me out that would be great.
You need to download the Vista driver from M-Audio. I have Vista and the M-Audio Keystation 49e and it works perfectly with native-instruments and Cubase. You can download demos for free from native-instruments dot com and first see if it works with your gear BEFORE buying. They have some baaaaaaad synths and it's real ez to assign to M-Audio by right clicking the mouse and then learn and turning the knob on your KeyRig
I guess not, but ableton is so flexible that sometimes general ideas are more helpful than step by step instructions. Plus I don't have good screen capping capabilities, so that stifles the walk-through.
I would recommend getting a copy of Ableton Live, along with a copy of Reason(gives you instruments to use in Live).
You should also get atleast a keyboard midi controller. I just use a 'creative prodikeys' which is a typing/music hybrid. It cost me $50. I would also recommend learning the basics of playing keyboard (chords etc.) because it will help you immensly in making good beats.
Lastly I recommend getting a pad midi controller as it is much easier for laying drum tracks.
Hey m8, may not be applicable, but i have a midi keyboard the m audio oxygen 49, and it for some reason has decided to stop working, ive been through the preferences but no joy, and im strugglin assignin stuff to the keyboard, cud u do a vid
hey man i just bought the axiom 25 and i just wanted to know how to record a sound on live and make it continuously play. i want to be able to record everything at once instead of having to do it peice by peice. would you know hoe to record straight on to the device and then later put it on live
the quality of sound really depends on your mic and sound card (24 bit etc) the midi controller would just be used to start and stop recording and edit effects.
well there is a huge difference ableton live does midi and audio... reason 3.0 is like software midi it doesnt do hardware or audio.... if you want to learn more about music production and recording there are a few good sites out there like tweakheadz that will teach you everything you need to know
Hey mate, got a question for you. I've got similar keyboard to yours (I've got YAMAHA PSR 620)and i can't link it up with ableton live 6 through midi interface cable, does that mean I do need some sort of MIDI controller (or I can purchase midi keyboard controller I guess too?) to get all of this working together just like you did? Would appreciate if you could give me some info on this, I've just purchased Live recently and having trouble setting it up - tx!
i tried installing Live 6 and it does it fine, but when i run Live, it loads and on the bottom where you can see what its' doing it reads "Scanning VSTs" and then it says can't find some folder (that doesn't even exist) what should i do?
hmmm, interesting to watch, but it would have been more helpful if you had shown specifically how you assign the midi controls, not just simply you using them.
That's the easiest part - just click midi in the top right, then select the thing you want to control, then hit/turn/slide the midi control you want to assign to it, then click midi to turn off the 'learn' mode .... there's a bit more to it (like making sure your track is armed or being monitored, and making sure ableton has your midi controller enabled in the prefs
The song kind of sounds like an industrial techno mix of Epona's Song. :P

well there is a huge difference ableton live does midi and audio... reason 3.0 is like software midi it doesnt do hardware or audio.... if you want to learn more about music production and recording there are a few good sites out there like tweakheadz that will teach you everything you need to know

Would appreciate if you could give me some info on this, I've just purchased Live recently and having trouble setting it up - tx!

hmmm, interesting to watch, but it would have been more helpful if you had shown specifically how you assign the midi controls, not just simply you using them.
CursedExistence 4 years ago
That's the easiest part - just click midi in the top right, then select the thing you want to control, then hit/turn/slide the midi control you want to assign to it, then click midi to turn off the 'learn' mode .... there's a bit more to it (like making sure your track is armed or being monitored, and making sure ableton has your midi controller enabled in the prefs

hum.....looks like you got all the material to make cool stuff and you're just using it to make crappy music...
but you know how to do it so that's a good thing :)
