i cant sing for shit! as an example, on parts that drag out, i run outta breath before its over. my voice is awful. i cant even really explain it im lost for words. basically i cant sing. i run outta breath, sometimes my voice sounds like im straining, blah blah blah. at least im not like my brother. when we're at church and he sings, it LITERALLY sounds like a screech. lol

PPl make too big of a deal about "HIGHER REGISTERS" or w/e they call them.

Some people are just born with higher or lower voices than other people...

That doesn't make them any more or less talented. Example: singing a song in a lower key... would be just as hard as singing it in a higher key. It just depends on where you register lies. I hate it when people get all impressed like it takes amazing talent to be born with tighter vocal cords. Good singers are good singers, period.

The new filipino guy in Journey isn't Steve Perry but he's really good. Ive seen them in concert and his stage presence is similar to Perry's but he lacks crowd interaction. This guy is pretty good but I can't really get into a person who sings my favorite song and holds notes too long to sound like hes trying to outdo Perry.

I saw some clips of him on this site, he is good. He needs to not sing from his throat on the sustained notes. Perry sounded classically trained and knew how to give the sustained notes a round full sound. I don't think the new guy is trying to "outdo" so much as prove himself. He's not American, English is not his first language, he's young and he's fronting a well known, accomplished band. I'm sure it's been drilled in his head he has to vocally shine for the fans. That's alot of pressure!
