Brilliant scene, it's pretty much the whole film in a nutshell, which plays like a mockumentary but no one could make anything this real. Sometimes you do wonder if it's not real but you just couldn't this stuff up. I recorded this off TV last time it was on but unbelievably, the tracking went all funny in this one scene! This is really a sad and ironic part to me...Uncle Bill has obviously given up on life and he's forced to say these 4 lines that he doesn't believe in one bit. It was funny at first, but after realizing the irony of it, it's kind of heartbreaking.

Check out take ten 1.55 to 2.07 - you just knew it wasn't going to be Mark's day when Bill got the line 100% but he got a bad recording. Saw American Movie about 3 or 4 years ago (on BBC2 or Channel 4 I think) and loved it, but have never seen it anywhere on DVD and it hasn't been on TV again in the UK.
