I remember taking my oath to serve for this lady, 6 fucking years in the NZ Army, yet im not even able to live in England with my son. Royal family have lost there ways
Such beautiful jewels. I've visited the tower of London and like Queen Victoria's little crown the best.
I've seen the Scottish crown jewels at Edinburgh castle too, but they weren't quite as impressive although it was nice to see the stone of scone (if it truly is the real one they have there)
Queen Elizabeth II is certainly one of the greatest monarchs the world has seen. I think she'll even surpass Victoria for the longest reigning monarch.
@JVL8701 -Perhaps you mean Commonwealth Community. To the best of my knowledge there does not exist such a country as "Commenwealth",and should you be American, then may I say that there are few bloodier than British and others.
England is in fact a financial oligarchy run by the "Crown" which refers to the "City of London" not the Queen. The City of London is run by the Bank of England, a private corporation. The square-mile-large City is a sovereign state located in the heart of greater London. As the "Vatican of the financial world," the City is not subject to British law
Je souhaite à Sa Majesté la reine Elizabeth II mes meilleurs vœux de bonheur et de santé, longévité à loccasion de la célébration canadienne de son anniversaire officiel ce 24 mai 2010.
The lady knows her stuff, as well she should. And it's so nice to hear her talk about the crown, one of the most enduring symbols of monarchy, with no pretense or snobbery at all. I get the feeling that she is proud of the history the crown contains, as well as aware of the responsibility. I love that she even imagines what kinds of things the stones have seen over the centuries.
As an American, I never get to hear the Queen speak much, but she has a lovely voice and seems like a lovely person.
A wonderful video and the Queen, as ever, wonderful with her stunningly enunciated English. She should offer to give lessons to the BBC...they used to be the guardians of good English.
The Queen did this commentary for a TV. production in around 1977, "ROYAL HERITAGE', which was produced by the BBC to Commemorate the Silver Jubilee year. Host for the show was Sir Hugh Weldon.
This is such a wonderful and beautiful video. May God bless always and forever, the Queen of England. I hope one day to go and visit. The country is so beautiful.
Its nonsense, HM The Queen reserves the right by way of her royal prerogative to dictate how she wishes to be styled and addressed, consequently she chose that she would be known as Elizabeth II. This is her right. By order in council HM has decreed that in future, if for example Scotland had an Edward V but England only an Edward I, then as the Edward V is higher, the next in line would be Edward VI. So, by that convention she chose to be the second Elizabeth.
Not sure if you were aware but the issue of numbering Monarchs with regard to England actually changed with current Queen. The agreement is now that when a new monarch ascends the throne they will take the highest numeral from either England or Scotland. So if we ever have a King Robert he would be King Robert IV as Scotland has had three King Roberts, England has had none. Hope this helps
@BillDFC You are right...She is Queen Elizabeth 1st of Great Britain and Queen Elizabeth 1st of Scotland. She is Queen Elizabeth the 2nd of England, Wales and Ireland.
@BillDFC The Queen is more Scottish then English, the last two Prime Ministers were Scottish. England Hasn't had an English King since 1066 (King Harold II) Even our current Prime Minister has a Scottish surname.
I believe this is an extract from a lavish BBC series called 'Royal Heritage' The opening scene shows Windsor Castle to the moving strains of 'Zadok the Priest'. It's not available on DVD or video.
I never knew such footage existed.. Her Majesty, wearing the George IV Diadem, discussing thee Imperial State Crown before her, whilst in the Throne Room of Buckingham Palace.
Yes! And the saphhire from the ring of Edward the Confessor - nearly 1000 years old! This crown can only be worn by the crowned monarch When the present Queen opened Parliament in 1952 - although she was Queen, her father George died in Feb.,1952 -it had to be carried before her, as she was not CROWNED Queen until June of the following year(1953).
This is incredible to actually have Her Majesty explain the Imperial State Crown! It is an impressive thing to see at the Tower but now it means so much more after hearing her tales of the various stones.
And I can believe that Queen Mary refered to the other diamonds as "the chips"! LOL!
Incredible! I saw the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London! But to have this crown explained by the Queen is indeed remarkable! I love it when she says, "...Granny's chips..." in describing the Cullinan diamond collection. I've read about this description many times. However, hearing the Queen say it, and say it with such ease and lack of pretense is extraordinary! Thank you for posting!
What an amzaing video!!!! Truly this is history taught by someone who knows what they are talking about. God bless our Queen. May she live forever. Thank you for adding this spectacular piece of film.
Wonderful, beautiful! It is most enjoyable because HM is the one explaining the crown. Very informative and moving as it comes to end with pictures of past great Monarchs, etc, and with the Coronation Anthem in the background.
HM Elizabeth II, by grace of God, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Belize, The Bahamas, of her many other realms, Defender of the Faith, among other titles, Head of the Commonwealth.

I have a question. If a auction dealer or a collector wanted to buy these jewels, how much would it cost? In other words, what is the monetary value?
