how loud does it seem on the inside? im gonna be doing this setup, and does it drone around 2200 rpm's, cuz thats about what i run on the highway going to school and work. I cant really tell from the vid,
@heyLeesComet Depends on the interior set up. When i first added this setup, I had a torn up factory bench, no carpet, and probably a lot of holes in the firewall still. Once everything was tightened up, sealed off, new carpet with underlayment, new weatherstripping on doors, new pad between heaterbox and firewall, as well as dynamat under the headliner...it totally muffled the sound and made it very enjoyable. Right about 48MPH I hear it the most, but not obnoxious at all.
@78Revolutions Alright, cool, i was hoping it wasnt going to be real obnoxiuos in the interior and get a headache on a short highway drive, 48mph is 2100r's for me, your 3 speed may be diff; I jjust got the 2 speed trans.
I do have a layer or two of stuff under the carpet so that might keep it muffled a bit.
You should do a drive by or take off vid, that would be sweet
@zapwatt There are two of them. That makes them headers. A front header plus the rear header would make them a pair of headers, or am I missing something.
@78Revolutions Okay then, I need to apologize. I am reacting to the "JDM" crowd and people's tendency to call any multi-branch manifold headerS plural. Please forgive me. I'm a lifer gearhead and hate seeing people misappropriated terminology. You're okay
that sounds good. what mufflers are you running? 40's? they aound good. its allstock? just a y pipe? with spit dual headers? who did oyu make sound so good?>
@fly2344 Yup, Flowmaster 40's. Just straight headers into 40's. no X or Y pipe. The headers are split, so two separate headers, therefore two separate exits. Thanks for the comment!
@zombiefishofficial Nah....car is painfully slow, Still is. My old 200 had alot more pep than this car, but ive never figured out why.....but dont really mind either. its just a car, not a hot rod :)
@furrytailsandfriends Nope....just put a new one on it, but nothing power-wise. This exhaust was really not something I had ever wanted to do, but just kind of 'did'. Its not performance based, and no mods were made to the factory I6 or the manifold, carb, timing, or anything. I did put a pertronix elec ignition, but thats not nearly the performance upgrade that it sounds like :) Just gets rid of points and condensor.
love the car, ? do you know where to find a drivers door arm rest?in your walk around video you mentioned the seats you got from the junkyard and reupholstered are they unique to the 66 falcon or do they interchange with other years, or possibly the mustang of that era. Also if you might have any ideas where to find the little chrome piece that goes above the pass. rear quarter window. When your car was in the accident were you able to straighten your bumper or find a new one?dig your taste, ryan
wow you truly have some nice falcons, this one and your station wagon are very nice looking, I have been trying to find a 61-66 falcon for a daily driver, but not much luck in PA lol
Thanks. I appreciate that. You may be off on your years , though, as Im not sure why you would include 66 and not 67 in your search, as the falcon body style was essentially broken into three groups in america: 60-63, 64-65, and 66-70. And yes, It gets harder and harder to find 'daily driver' falcons, because I dont think people realise that a 'cheap daily driver 65' is now a 45 year old car. Easier said than done!
Classic Inlines is your best bet. Better mileage isn;t really an upgrade with headers. If you want the best bang for the buck, install an electronic ignition. That would yield better results than headers.
Hooker has them, also clifford performance. I did the electronic ignition in this car as well, but have never watched the MPG's so have idea of any benefits these two items may have produced.
look for my youtube video titled "Walkaround of my 1962 Ford Falcon Station Wagon". at around the 8:00 mark I go for a drive and actually mention the shift. It happens around 15 MPH usually. Have no clue of RPM's though.
i havent seen the american 200 6 very well but when i did see one it resembled the australian version that was used until76 it surprised me to see these motors making 88 hp the australian 200 put out around 130hp and the 250 put out around 155 we also got them in cars that weighed just over a tonne i had a 73 td cortina 250 4 speed manual 2.75 gears a cam headers high compression and it was good for 130 mph.i thought american cars had all the power
have you done anything else to the engine? cam etc? or just the header and duals. very nice sound by the way im building a 65 falcon post and have decided to beef up the six
No H-pipe. the headers are 3-3, but technically they are 4.5 and 2.5 The fourth port is 'split', and meets up with its other half in the 5th port. So when you hold the headers in your hand, they look like 3-3, but technically they arent.
Thank you so much. I lost all of the kind comments when my previous account was booted. Its always nice to come in and see such nice things while the ol' bird sleeps for the winter. Cant wait for spring!
Yes. I think we have spoken before under my old account, 'Falcons66'. Your names seems familiar. My old account was suspended. And yes, This car is the 200 I6, the 62 wagon is a 170 I6 with stock exhaust.
it's all good, I found them... great ride. by the way, you should made a walk around video.

@78Revolutions that is the sound I want for my 250 inline six. Did you put a port divider in the head, between the center exhaust ports?

is that a 3 speed auto?
I thought they had a 2 speed?
tpvalley 2 years ago
3 speed auto, yes. The C4 trans began in 64 (thus the name C(6) 4. So I would guess all the round birds 60-63 must have had 2 speeds, as my 62 does.
78Revolutions 2 years ago
have u got any driving videos of the 2 speed car?
I have never heard one go through the gears before to get an idea of the difference between 1 and 2 as far as rpm drop goes?
