this is wonderful--both that young people speaking their living language and that this young man is carrying on stories of his people. He's going to be even better in 10 years!! Would anyone care to share the story--if that is ok?
@DustinRivers I'm nowhere near the age of having children, but in my Linguistic Opinion, people learn best when they're children. Teach as young as possible. They can soak up a lot of languages that quickly at that sort of age, especially through mainly Speaking/Listening lessons. It helps if you also know the second language. If not, learn WHILE you're teaching them. -My children will know at least 3. English, Spanish (for my family), and Russian (to speak only with me).
@DustinRivers I fluently speak Danish and my wife is American. I speak Danish to my children and my wife speaks English to them its the best way for them to learn both languages
@navajoboy006 Rosetta Stone has released a Navajo Rosetta Stone from the endangered language program. It costs 250$ but you can try the demo for it and I have found it EXTREMELY helpful. :)
Great job!!!! Thank you for posting the video... You made my day... Keep the language alive kiddo... from Mesa, Az origanally from (Smith Lake, NM) :)
So cute! I didn't understand a word, but he told the story so well! He's a great story-teller! His expressions and voice impression. Could you translate the story?
@windstorm1000 Correction: More Natives speak Dine' bazaad than any other Indigenous language in what is now the US (about 170,000). As for the continent...in Mexico alone, here are a few Native languages (approximate # of speakers): P'urepecha (175,000), Mazateco (207,000), Otomi (240,000), Tzotzil (330,000), Tzeltal (372,000), Zapoteco (500,000), Mixteco (550,000), Nahuatl (1,450,000). As for the Native language with the most speakers on the continent, that would be Quechua (about 10 million)
@xicanopower13 by continent, i meant north america--looks like you are including central and south amerca. thank you for all the numbers--i had no idea--its heartening there are so many native speakers in this generic age of language attrition.
@windstorm1000 Interesting...time to brush up on your geography. If we just consider NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement), North America would include Canada, USA, and Mexico. Technically, countries usually categorized as "Central America" are actually considered as part of North America (not a separate continent). Be that as that may, I would argue that history has dictated that this continent (Turtle Island) includes both North and South. I agree with your sentiment.
@xicanopower13 I stand corrected! Let us hope that not just Nat. people, but Hispanics (who are alteast 1/2 native) everywhere learn their native lang.'s--not Span.--its Nuahatl, Huichol--u know em better than I do. There is power in langugage that can help strip away cult. genocide that cultures in the Am.'s suffered--always a possibliity of regeneration if people want to learn. There's a Nuhatl language circle here in NM for those going back to the old way. Good for them.
I love this video! He is a great story teller! Quinton is going to be a very special person in our world! Keep it up Quinton.... a fan from Houston, TX (originally from Crownpoint).
Awesome lil man!! My spirits rise with hopes of the young natives talking like this cool young dude. Im Navajo myself and ive never ran into a young kid like him talk with such pride. I love this video and i hope to see more of young Quinton. Thats realy awesome i saw this video two days ago at work,
Yaa he is so cute, i remember talking like that when i was in kindergarten, i can understand him........... in some parts i get stuck lol. this so awesome, wish lil kids can speak our language like this.
A cousin of mine told about this little navajo boy telling story on YOU TUBE and I decide to check it out. It turn out, it was funny story he told in Navajo :)
Thank you. YAate'. I still remember some Navajo. My Missionary dad by adoption preached in the Navajo language. Jesus AYO ashoni. Not sure if this is the correct spelling but it means Jesus loves me. Can someone PLEASE interpret the story so we may enjoy it further?
This child will probably be a comedian. But I would rather he grow up and teach his children Navajo too. This child deserves so much, he's so precious.
We LOVE Quinton! I've played this clip for my entire family (we are Jicarilla Apache, and your language and ours are essentially the same - both Athabascan), and my aunts and uncles and my mom all LOVE Quinton! You must be so very proud! He may have some acting in his future - he's so animated and expressive! BEST VIDEO EVER!
this video was AWESOME!!! i started tearing up because NEVER not once have i seen a 6yr old talking so much Diné Bizaad. this sad because i'm 24 & he's already far more Navajo than me & how much i can speak.
i'm proud to be Navajo though regardless of not being fluent in Navajo. keep up with the Navajo studies & Navajo joke telling. question how did you teach him Navajo? i would LOVE to watch the youtube teaching videos of whoever taught him how to speak Navajo. i would even pay for the videos.
I remember this story.. He tells it so much better! Wow! (Applaud'N whoever taught him NAvajo) Im 28 and he speaks better Navajo than we do. The YazzieHomes Family!
This is excellent. But I have to say, at one point he changes language for a second, "right ear, left ear". It's like listening to KTNN where they are giving ads in Navajo "whatever whatever Chunky Chicken 3500 Main Street Toh Tah whatever whatever". I love it.
Maybe he can grow up to be one of the "KNDN" ;) announcers. Then he would not just preserve the language, but _broadcast it_. A good thing for which to hope.

glad some kids still wanna learn our langauge cuz i cant speak it either but i can understand it fully...i wish i could and i feel bad too....he is lucky tho, keep it up kid cuz i DOnt want our lang. to die out too...
Watch this child prodigty will be a well loved actor. I bet he will be in the big screen. Very classy video, I am a navajo and this kid has shown me what I lack. Great stuff.
Haha this is so cute!!! He is really fluent, man i wish i could talk like that in Navajo. Good story Quinton, couldn't have said it better myself or at all. Keep learning and pass it on, we need kids like you to keep our language going. I only understand but cant speak it. Please give more videos of him there so adorable. Thank awesome video.
he is super Cute lil boy! i love this video.! im speechless on his fluent navajo, jus WOW!! Gotta love the children of NavajoLand! :D Ur a inspiration to everyone lil buddy ;D
Cool..nice to see our language strong with our young generation. These stories were like movies when my grandpa would tell them back in the day. I passed these on to my daughter and family to keep the teaching strong. Great job..
However, based on my experiences on the Navajo rez, I'm worried many of the youth of apathetic or unable to learn about their culture and its language, and I think that needs to be changed. (Growing up as a kid there, I didn't know anybody younger than 40 who was fluent in Navajo.)
This wonderful, smart, cute storyteller should serve as an inspiration to all Dine about the importance of teaching our sacred language to our youth. Kudos to his parents! Job well done! I absolutely loved it!
So amazing...make more...

@nativerica He is absolutely adorable.
However, based on my experiences on the Navajo rez, I'm worried many of the youth of apathetic or unable to learn about their culture and its language, and I think that needs to be changed. (Growing up as a kid there, I didn't know anybody younger than 40 who was fluent in Navajo.)
