  • wow he's still on every night he must be incredibly old.

  • Nice sideburns, Trebek! lol

  • Trebek is okay, but he lacks excitement. He's okay for the geriatric crowd.

  • You suck Trebek.

  • "MINISKIRTS!"

Gee Alex, you said that a little loudly.

  • Wow, Gzowski off to the left, before his glory days!

I remember Trebek as a reporter in the 197s, same sideburns, big frizzy hair, but I seem to remember it being on CTV, not CBC...

  • Where can I get one of those wigs?

  • @jared1847823487 THAT WOULD BE AWESOME

  • He is pretty smart.

  • boring and preachy

    sounds like cbc today

  • wow if he gave that same talk today. we need morals

  • Canada rules! Minus the moustache! jk

  • Very interesting clip. Saw him recently do an interview on The Hour.

  • My goodness, look at those sideburns!

  • The woman has nice legs... Who is she????/

  • Comment removed

  • Looks like Tom Jones!

  • @NetworkingPower That's not unusual!

  • I liked what he had to say and would say that he made some good points.

  • Only when he talks in a low tone, does his voice sound very similar to today. Notice there's no mustache here either but if you look closely, you'll notice some peach fuzz. That could be when Mr. Mustache was born around 1970 and kept that way until he finally shaved it off in 2001.

  • It's funny that Subaru named their crossover after him. The "Tribeca!" Hahahaahahahah Im so funny!

  • Your not, but he[Alex Trekbek] made a funny joke about mini skirts.

  • He looks like a different person. The voice is the same.

  • sweiland75, what a hipster. i hate you. trebek must have done something right. he's doin the same stuff tiger did. trebek's just too good to be caught

  • timeless truth.

    a virtual potpourri of wisdom.

  • I'll take the penis mightier for 500.

  • This a character I've been working on, I call him 'painfully erudite Canadian'.

  • I was in the audience for a taping of College Jeopardy when it came to my school one year. Alex Trebek was exactly as warm and personable with the audience during the breaks as you'd expect him to be from the show. They have to take the commercial breaks in real time for some reason, so he used that time to walk through the aisles taking questions.

  • wow what a bad camera operator!

  • @bluejayforever2006 why? because he didn't cut every 3 seconds to a new shot?

  • Suck it, Trebek!

  • potpourri for 1000

  • He was right about "New Morality/No morality", and things have gotten worse.

  • Actually those ET and Inside Hollywood shows just kill me.

"Brittany went to Burger King today, and bought a large fries and a sundae."

Who gives a crap?? LOL!! I can't believe how inane it is.

The only thing worse than those shows, are the Canadian version of those shows we have up here. They say the same things about people, except I don't even know who they are talking about!!

    "Who is she?" LOL!!

  • The answer is "This person makes reading a phone book seem exciting"

I'll say "Who is Alex Trebek?" Alex.

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzsnrt.....bbbl.......zzzzzzzzz.............zzzzzzzzzzzz.........

  • These days you have to be babbling and screaming at the top of your lungs to be put on TV. The View and Entertainment Tonight in particular come to mind (and loud commercials, too). But I guess that's progress.

  • He looks like a mix of Marlon Brando and James Caan.

  • That's not Alex Trebek ... it's Tom Jones!

  • You'll rue the day, Tre-bek!

  • its 1969...talk about the vietnam war, for frigs sake!

  • He's from Canada, he didnt actually care

  • Those were some bitchin' 'burns.

  • Wow ..lighten up Alex...it's just an audition for "The Friendly Giant"

  • Just as full of himself then as now.

  • He looks like Starsky.

  • WOW! How much money did they give YOU for your soul Alex? What a shame. You could have helped your fellow man instead of being another corporate whore.

  • I'd swear Trebek is emulating

Richard Burton. Not a bad job.

  • o.o

gotta love the 60's (almost 70's).. Alex was pretty progressive in those days!

  • Well Alex, not a bad string of thinking since not much has changed.

  • Where's the mustache?

  • Damn, look at those sideburns! lol

  • Pretty good improv.

  • You guys have to realize that what he was doing is NOT easy. If you had short notice to talk about anything for 3 minutes (that would hold others interest) you'd be hard pressed to do so.

    Nice voice too.

  • My...Alex looks so young here (because he is). Looks much like he does today, except with the gray hair. But he sounds much the same.

    Great post!

  • Sounds like Alex has gotten into some "Potent Potables"

  • he does...oh shit!! Mike Brady!!

  • He looks like Mike Brady!

  • lol yeah he does!

  • This is what happens to you if you do a philosophy degree. Love it.

  • He doesn't seem to have changed much in forty years. This clip would likely shock people who have only seen him on "Jeopardy!".

  • Ugh! Nobody hates this more than HE does, I assume. This is just awful. Well, we're all better at things the 2nd time. Except, of course, George W. Bush.

  • In this 1969 tv bit Alex seemed to have some promise as a perceptive, unaligned social commentator.Too bad he traded all that in to become just another high paid "Pimp" for CorpoRat America!!!

  • You have no idea what you are talking about. Why even bother commenting if you have nothing worth saying?

  • How is hosting a quiz showing tantamount to being a "pimp" for CorpoRat America? When has Alex attached his name to something that was subversive or dishonest? When you make comments such as these, you should at least elaborate, or else you look quite the fool.

  • Holy shit. We're living in a dystopian perversion of Trebek's vision.

  • he looks like eliott gould

  • Wow...yeah! Yeah, he does.

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Thanks Canada !

  • Alex's first American game show (with moustache in place) was "THE WIZARD OF ODDS", four years after this audition was produced...

  • He's the native of the nickel. I mean Alex is from Sudbury, Ontario Canada.

  • Yes, he is from Sudbury, Ont, Canada.

I know this is a fact because he didn't live far from my dad.

  • Boy his voice hasnt changed a bit from 1969 to 2008!

  • holy fuckin a.d.d. what an articuate gentleman though right?

  • He's bang on. I've always felt the same way about the legal system.

  • that was cool....

  • once a tool, always a tool. JEOPARDY rules though.
